Trump's Attorney General is threatening Rep. Jasmine Crockett, telling her to "tread carefully" about attacks on Tesla, Tesla trade-ins hit record high, and Trump tries to sanction lawyers and firms

With that, here is all the news you missed:

  • Trump’s Attorney General just warned Rep. Jasmine Crockett to “tread very carefully” after she spoke out against Elon Musk — a clear threat meant to silence her criticism.

  • A record number of Tesla owners are now trading in their cars, coinciding with the company’s stock hitting new lows.

  • Trump is now ordering federal law enforcement to pursue sanctions against lawyers and firms that take his administration to court — even as it faces over 130 lawsuits. It’s the latest in a string of efforts to intimidate and punish legal professionals who oppose him.

  • Marc Elias, Chair of Elias Law Group, fired back: “We won’t back down from defending democracy in court. This White House doesn’t get to dictate who we represent or what cases we take on. Our democracy is at risk, and the choices lawyers make now could shape the future of the rule of law in this country.”

  • At the Krome Detention Center in Miami, immigrant women say they were treated "like animals" while in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody. They describe horrific conditions: chained for hours on a prison bus without food, water, or access to a toilet—told by guards to urinate on the floor. Up to 27 women packed into a tiny holding cell “like sardines in a jar.” Sleeping on concrete floors. Just one three-minute shower over several days. Many feared for their lives.

  • Trump is reportedly considering moves to privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

  • The percentage of Americans who believe unemployment will rise over the next year has jumped to 66% — the highest level since the 2008 financial crisis.

  • Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called a national election for April 28, as new polls show growing support for the Liberal Party.

  • When questioned about due process for deported migrants allegedly linked to gangs, Trump’s border chief Tom Homan brushed it off, saying officials are “confident they’re all members of the TDA.” He ignored the concern entirely, adding, “We’re just enforcing the laws already on the books.”

  • Today marks 15 years since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law.

See you in the morning.
