With that, here’s
Republican Budget Bill:
Trump called Senate passage of his tax bill “music to my ears” during a visit to “Alligator Alcatraz,” and praised VP JD Vance for casting the tie-breaking vote.
Musk called the bill “insane” and threatened to start a new political party, reigniting his feud with Trump, who responded with threats of Doge and deportation.
Senator Murkowski, who voted yes, said “Do I like this bill? No. But I tried to take care of Alaska’s interests,” and added, “My hope is that the House is gonna look at this and recognize that we're not there yet.”
The bill is now being moved to the House of Representatives where votes will begin tomorrow morning at 9 AM. It is unclear whether Republicans in the House have the votes to pass the bill.
House Speaker Mike Johnson faces GOP backlash over Senate changes to Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” with a tight July 4 deadline looming.
Johnson admitted the Senate “went a little further than many of us would have preferred” in amending the House version.
Rep. Ralph Norman called the Senate bill “a non-starter,” while Rep. Andy Ogles plans an amendment to replace the Senate text with the original House version.
Over 20 House Republicans are reportedly threatening to vote against the bill.
Donald Trump in the Everglades:
Today, Donald Trump visited Florida’s newly built “Alligator Alcatraz” prison facility in the middle of the Everglades. He held a roundtable event with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis where he was asked a number of questions. This is what the facilities in the detention center look like (literal cages):
Trump’s answers are below:
Trump calls for deporting U.S. citizens:
"We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country."
"I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth."
"So maybe that'll be the next job."
Trump on Zohran Mamdani:
Mamdani said he would defy I.C.E. and not allow arrests of criminal aliens in NYC.
Trump response: "Well then we will have to arrest him… a lot of people are saying he is here illegally. We’re going to look at everything."
Trump on Eric Adams indictment:
"I helped him out a little bit. He had a problem."
Trump on Ron DeSantis' immigration proposal:
DeSantis proposed deputizing the National Guard and using them as immigration judges.
Trump response: "Yes. He has my approval."
Trump on how long detainees will stay in the state:
"I'm gonna spend a lot. This is my home state. I love it. I'll spend a lot of time here."
Trump failed to understand that the question was about detainees, not about him.
All other news:
Trump officials threatened CNN with prosecution over its coverage of IceBlock, an app that helps users track and avoid ICE agents.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “We’re going to actually go after them and prosecute them. What they’re doing is illegal.”
Zohran Mamdani won NYC’s Democratic mayoral primary, defeating Andrew Cuomo by 12 points in ranked-choice voting.
The Trump administration may target Mamdani’s citizenship, citing alleged support for terrorism; Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt signaled an investigation could follow. There is no evidence to support these claims.
A U.S. appeals court ruled that Badar Khan Suri, a pro-Palestinian Georgetown student from India, can remain free while fighting deportation, rejecting the Trump administration’s request to return him to detention.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has officially ceased operations.
Trump said Lara Trump would be “great” as a replacement for Senator Thom Tillis.
Trump administration plans to keep the FBI headquarters in D.C., according to The Washington Post.
Jurors have reached a partial verdict in the Diddy trial. Deliberations will continue tomorrow.
See you in the morning.
