I am so sick of the legitimacy of my marriage constantly being up for debate. It’s humiliating, degrading, & inhumane. How does my marriage hurt anyone else’s?

When someone says “marriage is just a piece of paper. It doesn’t take away your love for each other”…then why are people so set on destroying it?

If it’s “just a piece of paper” then they need to stand in solidarity when my rights get taken away & get a divorce. If my marriage isn’t that big of a deal, then neither is theirs.

The PRRI survey (shared by Elle Emme in the comments here) came up with a very different result - 67% of Americans supporting same-sex marriage. I'm pretty leery of polls in general these days - you really have to dig into their methodology and political leanings to see what biases they may have, and who has the time in this dumpster fire.

Thank you for this! :) In general, I’m not very trusting in polls either. Even without Aaron mentioning stats, it’s the fact that same sex marriage is even up for debate at all just evokes such a strong sense of emotion that’s hard to ignore sometimes. There shouldn’t even be a survey to say who approves of my marriage. In my original post I said it was degrading…but honestly it’s worse than that.

I live in Missouri and my tubes are tied, but that news makes me want to undo that and then start having spite abortions. 🤷‍♀️ (obviously I’m being hyperbolic, please don’t come for me)

If you talk to a real OB/gyn, abortions are NEVER medically necessary. There are always treatments, including that for emergencies, available.

Only 85-93% of OB/gyn do abortions, so that should tell you something.

Absolutely botigious. Of course to someone raised on abortion ideology the facts are clouded by propped-up-aganda. How can I help you understand the truths of abortion, the predelivery killing of a human child, needlessly in all cases, except possibly ectopic pregnancy where TRUE non-viability is the diagnosis.

There are tubal pregnancies that are 100% fatal if untreated. So quit with the lies that every scary pregnancy is treatable so the baby can survive. You have 0 knowledge of the risks of death to both the woman and fetus.

Expand full comment
RK's avatar

If you read my note instead of triggering, you would see that I mentioned “ectopic pregnancy” which is the exact general term for a tubal pregnancy but covers other areas as well. A tubal pregnancy cannot be treated with abortion. For treatments, there are methotrexate and ACTUAL surgery, not just a procedure like an abortion. So much for your zero knowledge??

I will put my knowledge up against yours, even semi-experiential since my wife and I have 4 children, one fetal demise that required what libs disingenuously call an abortion just to fearmongering women who don’t know any better. Maybe like yourself?? Better yet, I recommend a smart OB/gyn, who should be easy to find since less than 15% of them do abortions, as previously mentioned.

Be well ….

Projection is a psychological defense mechanism where someone unconsciously or consciously attributes their own thoughts, feelings, or traits to another person or group. It's a way to cope with intense emotions and avoid uncomfortable feelings like guilt, shame, or fear. Projection can be a one-time occurrence or a recurring pattern of behavior. Here are some examples of projection:

Infidelity: Someone having an affair may accuse their partner of cheating.

Racist beliefs: Someone with racist beliefs may insist others share their views.

Bullying: Someone who bullies another for being insecure or anxious may be avoiding acknowledging their own similar tendencies.

Job insecurity: Someone who feels unqualified for their job may lash out at a coworker, telling them they don't know what they're doing.

Not the dental! They literally just started covering that for adults in the last few years! Preventative dental coverage actually SAVES money, since folks can have their teeth taken care of before they get bad or infected, resulting in costly ER visits and potential hospital stays.

I took my 2 sons to the dentist this past year. It was their first time in a few years because their pediatric dentist wouldn't take him back (because they have all their adult teeth now) and I wasn't able to get them into the ONE place in our area that accepted our insurance. My mother offered to help cover the cost and got them into her dentist where we had to pay out of pocket. For my youngest the initial visit with exam and xrays came to $550. He had 9 cavities that needed to be filled at $250 - $300 a pop. When all was said and done, we spent over $3,000. And this was after doing the same for his older brother, who thankfully only had 1 cavity, but unfortunately needed braces so that was another $1,500 (fortunately he only needed top braces or it would have been double that) Granted, I know Medicaid wouldn't have covered the braces, but if that was the only thing I had to pay out of pocket for, it would have been much more doable. And the orthodontist at least offered a payment plan. The dentist did not. Most people on Medicaid cannot afford to pay out of pocket and most are not as fortunate as I was to have family to help cover the cost.
