We need to stop paying Congress. It is clear we are under a dictatorship and they are not doing their jobs. What Trump did today was unconstitutional and I would be bet Congress will not hold him accountable.

Melanie Marie's avatar

AOC is starting Impeachment proceedings because Trump illegally entered into a war with Iran without having Congress approve his unauthorized action.

S. A. Linden's avatar

I got a message saying that Ro Khanna is calling for Congress to return immediately and deal with this. If Republicans could even be bothered to come out of their hidey holes and do it, they would likely give Trump a belated vote of approval. Is it a mere majority vote which is needed?

Tiff Puterbaugh's avatar

What he did is illegal. However everything he does is illegal and unconstitutional. They gave him immunity. He believes he can do anything . I fear for what this brings next and for the people he already bombed.

Joyce's avatar

Yeah I dont think a fascistic dictator like that orange farce is impressed by something like an impeachment ppl.

Karen Kelso's avatar

It didn’t do much good last time

Remember the Vietnam war?

Gidge G's avatar

Pssst bombing an area is not entering a war. It's called handling a conflict big difference. We can enter conflicts and resolve conflicts with our troops without it being a war. The problem with idiots like AOC is they have no understanding of military issues.

Lois's avatar

Since Johnson praised him and his actions I don't think they will. He briefed the Republicans and not the Democrats. But the Middle East is used to playing the long game. The long game to Trump is overnight. We haven't heard the last of this. They backed 9/11 and have funded terrorism for decades. Trump and his ignorant, unqualified goon squad don't have a clue as to how to deal with them.

Luu's avatar

The Trump goons do know terrorism and cruelty.

Joyce's avatar

The long game for the orange sTrumpf is "in two weeks"

I am reading the Republican from my home state and the comments coming through…those morons think what Trump did was wonderful. They have no clue he acted against the constitution.

A report from the IAEA noted Iran was complying with the (JCPOA) agreement. Iran only ceased to comply after the US (Trump) withdrew from the (JCPOA) agreement and placed economic sanctions on Iran.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) also known as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal, is an agreement to limit the Iranian nuclear program in return for sanctions relief and other provisions. The agreement was finalized in Vienna on 14 July 2015, between Iran and the P5+1(the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)—China, France, Russia, the U.K., U.S. (Obama)-plus Germany) together with the European Union.

Trump illegally Strikes 3 Nuclear Sites without Congress Consent

June 21, 2025

If the goal of those attacks was really to reduce the risk of Iran developing nuclear weapons, then Netanyahu would not have urged Trump to abandon the effective (JCPOA) agreement that was actually achieving precisely that goal that had been negotiated during the term of President Barack Obama. Trump would not have followed through and pulled the U.S. out of the (JCPOA) agreement in 2018. If Trump did not recognize the value of such negotiated diplomatic agreements, he would not have spent the past several months working toward one to replace the one he blew up.

Unqualified, Unfit, Unhinged!

It wasn't unconstitutional by no means. We can have military conflicts up the Ying yang without having it be a war. He'll we can have battles with other countries without declaring war. It's not unconstitutional to do so. Sadly ppl don't understand the Constitutional laws enough and either do some congressional ppl.

Trump wants the expanded powers of POTUS that comes with being a wartime president, as well as a wartime budget, but he needs Congress to declare war…so what does he do?

He pulls out of an agreement that restricted Iran from enriching uranium, then threatens to attack them for enriching uranium. Unexpectedly, Iran takes the high road and goes to the UN over the threats. Since Iran won’t attack, Trump gets Israel to attack Iran. Now, Trump is allowed to attack Iran under the false pretense of protecting an ally, circumventing congressional approval. He posts a message claiming peace, knowing full well that Iran will retaliate, and Congress will subsequently declare war.

Trump gets everything he wants- expanded powers, and a big budget to hide his reckless overspending, all under the guise of defending an allied nation.

Fox.or.Ox's avatar

It's all the fault of the certain members of the USSupreme Court, giving him immunity from any and everything as long as he calls it Official acts, which is anything and everything. The USSC members Alito, Roberts, Thomas, Gorsuch, Barrett and Kavanaugh unleashed a savage beast with that decision and started the downfall of this once great country.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

This has nothing to do with immunity. If he is responding to an imminent threat to the US or an ally, it’s within his power.

Weezy's avatar

Repugs have been saying for decades that Iran had nukes, it's never been proven. Donald Trump 100% has to go to Congress before he gets us into a war that was not an imminent threat on US soil

Joyce's avatar

Yeah but NOW it is, so he can declare martial law, and do all kinds of things to the American public that he deems necessary because of the threat of Iran striking the US!

Adam Stoler's avatar

you miss the point

why he is fking this.

it is cover for abuse of power

and no

there is not unanimous consensus among his adoring ignorant fans

Jen Valente's avatar

Do we know if any of our allies were briefed of the impending strike? It seems that they weren’t.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

Netanyahu stated that the US was going to respond to Iran’s “nuclear threat.” Israel would be the target if Iran had nuclear capability.

Jen Valente's avatar

I couldn’t care less what Israel has to say about Iran so long as it’s Netanyahu whispering in Trump’s ear. Netanyahu and Trump are cut from the same cloth.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

Oh, I’m in full agreement with you. I’m only saying what the congressional Republicans will be using as justification to vote against impeachment. He followed the rules if you believe Netanyahu’s bullshit.

S. A. Linden's avatar

We never, ever ask for proof. Especially from Israel's wild claims.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

Not when it’s also in US interest. Trump needs a war. Netanyahu wants Iran destroyed. It’s mutually beneficial.

Linda Kleven's avatar

Israel has been afraid of that for decades and has hidden behind the Americans skirts with respect to nuclear attack by anybody else. I wonder if we will ever understand why this all came about- Israel attacking Iran when they were not under attack, and then the US coming in with way more finesse than Trump or Hegseth are capable of?

Linda Kleven's avatar

I’m afraid I will never understand the benefit to the US of being a supporter of Israel outside of the massive amount of money that is made supplying them with armaments

Fox.or.Ox's avatar

Iran did not threaten the US? Is this a "Love id blind and lovers cannot see"?

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

No, but their supposed nuclear capability while firing missiles at Israel is enough for Trump to pretend this is in defense. It’s the whole reason he had Bibi attack in the first place. Trump tried to bait Iran into a war, and Iran went to the UN like a civilized nation. This was plan B.

Minerva's avatar

This guy! 🤡🍊🤡

S. A. Linden's avatar

I do think that Bibi came first on this. But also, there's a sneaking suspicion that as much money as war can cost, it often burgeons the economy. Trump is in a PR hole about the BBB deficit and he desperately needs some economic booster. And that would be the most evil excuse of all to go to war and kill people.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

Don’t underestimate his interest in the expanded powers of a President during a war. He also gets a fat wartime budget to obfuscate his reckless spending up until this point. ICE is almost out of money, and the DOD is way over budget.

S. A. Linden's avatar

Oh I'm not. Watch the DOD rob the poor in the BBB now. Yes, I read today that ICE is almost out of money, if you can believe anything they say. I'm not sure that Trump is smart enough to think about the long term implications of expanded powers. But Miller et al are.

Disguy Ovahea's avatar

Yup. There is a provision for $40K bonuses for ICE agents in the reconciliation bill.

Minerva's avatar

This guy! 🍊🤡🍊

Fox.or.Ox's avatar

Trump proves by the unprovoked attack on Iran that he has and will murder and kill anyone for self aggrandizement.

Great breakdown! Thank you.

Well saidvand spot on.

Judy Steiner's avatar

That is how he rolls. Sadly.

Updating only republicans is another red flag/sign of him trying to give his party all the power

S. A. Linden's avatar

Color me shocked at how partisan they have become on this. It's undemocratic, uncivil, and unforgivable. Mike Johnson should be censured and removed.

Music_Junkie's avatar

Did he actually say this? WTF

JoshB's avatar

He is a petulant child with the keys to our nuclear arsenal and he is losing his mental faculties. This is insane.

Pam Jones's avatar

Don't forget, on top of his insanity, he has Theil and Miller .

Nox's avatar

He’s supposed to be the “no war” president right?

DebJS's avatar

Only when he uses that as a campaign promise to get votes.

KingRayVet's avatar

We all know he lies for absolutely no reason. Can't even help himself from doing it. The guy has lost control of his faculties. His impulsive behavior is ultra dangerous!!!

Impeachment and removal

Michelle, Author's avatar

Yes, when is the impeachment? This is what many of us have been wondering.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

The Republicans in Congress have the sole and absolute power do decide that so clog up Mike Johnson's phone. Briefing Republicans and not Democrats is another act that calls for impeachment.

Michelle, Author's avatar

Yes, so why aren't the Republicans impeaching him? I know they are the same party, but the constitution is the constitution. This decision was decided independent of Congress, right?

Jean English's avatar

I can only say Oh Fuck. Tears in my eyes.

Natasha K.'s avatar

I’m not sure we’ll be waiting long for that response 😞

Each of your points have sources — love it! Real reporting is so missed in this age. Thanks for doing the honest, time-consuming, hard work!

Donna's avatar

Rubio looked uncomfortable in front of the cameras. Could there be some decency to this man? Is it not the policy in US to have Congress weigh in on any military involvement and if this is the case, why did the military listen to the order from only the president?

We appreciate you very much Aaron. Get some rest.
