I was sent a map from a German friend of how the country voted. The entire eastern bloc voted AfD. These are the people who didn’t thrive after reunification and are ripe for radicalization because of their poor economic conditions, the same as before WWII. Germany has some internal problems to fix as much as we do. I’m glad about who won but they have a threat brewing too.

I sent an email to Elon Musk with 5 bullet points.. I am not a federal employee, nor did my points have any relevance. It would be a shame if their email was flooded with bogus emails like that!

I did the same thing and sent them as five different emails yesterday and today. My pettiness has gone to depths I didn’t think possible since the election.

Yes I did that as well. Can't get through on the phone though. Ohio senators, Governor's office or AG office aren't answering phones. And I'm pretty sure the AG office disabled their online complaints form.

My daughter was asked by AWS to list her main jobs. She was then, in a third round, part of tens of thousands they (&Salesforce, Amazon, MS, Meta, etc)laid off. Why should federal employees not have to prove they're working, and why can't they be let go, just like private sector employees are every day?

Expand full comment
Dottie Moffitt's avatar

I’m not arguing they can’t be laid off. Do I think there should be sweeping layoffs? No! Doing so has the potential to tank our economy. It also has the potential of making people dependent on social programs such as Medicaid and SNAP. They will also be collecting unemployment which the federal government will be paying to federal employees. There is nothing wrong with employers asking for productivity proof but that is what quarterly reviews are for. Elon is NOT their employer so yes I do believe he stepped far out of bounds demanding weekly productivity emails. Asking every federal employee to send weekly emails will be on federal time so they will be getting paid to prove productivity by doing something that is not productive. We are also paying federal employees to read all the emails proving productivity which is also not productive.

This whole email distraction is a shell game. Don’t look over there, look over here. Then the cabinet picks look like they’re doing something for the people, but it was all a con anyway. This administration is a joke.

When I spoke to my parents in Ukraine this morning, my dad explained some things about the whole rare minerals deal to me. My question was, of course, about the whole 50% thing - which is basically highway robbery. However, what my father pointed out to me are three things: 1) while we know Ukraine has rare minerals, nobody really knows how much there is; 2) they are very deep underground. While there have been plans to try and get to them, what with the war and all, there is actually no existing mining operation. 3) A lot of them are in the territories occupied by Russia. So, Trump is welcome to try and take 50% of something with uncertain quantity, no existing access, and located in the area Putin wants to keep.

Mark Cuban had a good take on it as well on blue sky. Namely that this isn't something that Trump has just going to be able to run in and grab tomorrow. And so really it helps out Ukraine right now and basically isn't exactly the win that Trump thinks is going to come from this.

I think it kills Zelensky to see what his people continue to go through and I just hope one day we might have later that cares even one quarter as much about us.

Dottie Moffitt's avatar

1) Is there a chance that Trump’s appointees are telling people not to respond and then tomorrow as justification to let people go from their jobs? 2) It scares me to think of Europe aligning and leaving us behind. I understand why they are doing it though. 3) Zelensky has always put country first. If only our leaders here would do the same!

I'm hoping that this is a sign of infighting and breakdown. With each appointee wanting control over their own area. And they don't want to give it to Musk. I really hope the house of cards comes crashing down soon.

Not surprised at all. Germany learned from WWII and have since have strict laws against this garbage. It’s only in recent times where a faction has risen up. Not sure what/how they’re circumventing to do it, but they’re connected somehow to the groups in other EU countries, Bannon and his cabal. It’s all connected internationally, including the US. Germany as a whole is against, all just like here. This has been a years/decades long plan, lots of cultivating, brainwashing, and surgically tapping into anger.

Except not all of them are agreeing. The former eastern bloc failed to thrive after reunification and is suffering from economic crisis and is now doing what happened right before the war. They are being radicalized against the government because they haven’t achieved success and want to blame someone else. Their infrastructure isn’t as advanced so they don’t have the big businesses that bring prosperity and now are being convinced it’s the government’s fault. That part of their country is a danger.
