I know that doesn’t make anything better but at the very least there’s some hope a chunk of these won’t be enacted. Hope is all I have right now and I’ll hold on to every last bit of it!
Ok so the good news is that he has to have 2/3 vote in senate and in house AND has to have 3/4 of states approvals in order to amend the constitution. So he isn’t really likely to be able to take away birthright citizenship as it is the 14th amendment. Also if he tries to stay (per my comment above) that would take a constitutional amendment too. So that eases my worries some (not completely but some).
I believe it is distraction. They are doing so many things at once and some of them are so obviously ridiculous intentionally, to distract us from the worst things they are doing and keep us busy. What happens now to all the people whose identification matches their gender identity or have X instead of male/female? Agreed how can you just go in and undo everything a prior president did by executive order in one fell swoop? Leave the Laris climate accord? We’re screwed on so many levels. Rachel, Breathe, please! While it disastrous what he is doing to America, do remember to simply breathe. Slowly in, slowly out. (This is really for me by the way!) Your main tasks right now, I think, is to love our family, love those in our community, be the joy that’s so difficult to see in our political environment. Breathe, play, love, (was that a movie?) and when opportunities to make a difference arise, act. Every little bit that each of us do in defiance and resistance will help us survive.
Teach your children to reason. Talk to them about honoring humanity in daily life. Talk about random acts of kindness like sharing cookies at lunch. Find ways to positively affect the people who come your way to preserve America as the sanctuary from tyranny it was created to be.
We each can’t save the world alone. We have to do it together, one breath at a time. Well, that’s what I’m going to try to do.
I’m in Rachel’s boat and have been for months. Debilitating panic. Backpacks with legal documents collected , passports, enhanced ID’s coming, my dog’s vaccination records, my medical records including list of prescription, adding my ex husband to all of my daughters/mine bank accounts, cash supply, house security, pantry filled with vacuum sealed food, medical supplies, friends in Canada supporting me if needed, maps printed with escape routes… just to name a few. My therapist says I need to manage my feelings of paranoia 😬😂

Every time he says "never before has this happened in our country"(referring to all of the unfair treatment he had received.... )why aren't all of the reporters yelling back at him saying "of COURSE it has never hapoened before. We've never had a criminal, convicted felon, cheater who is without morals or ethics holding the office of President before you came along!" I just can't watch or listen to him.
