The only thing that can stop him, aside from assassination, is impeachment by the House and conviction by the Senate. And that won't happen because the Republicans in power want to stay in power. For all intents and purposes, he is King.
There are many things that legislators can do to slow him down. Both the legislative and judicial branches should be doing everything in their power to stop this, even if it’s just placing more hurdles in his way.
What hurdles? Subpoenas mean nothing. Lawsuits mean nothing. Judicial rulings mean nothing. Laws mean nothing. He can just ignore them all, with no consequences! Nothing will take him out of office for 4 years, and nobody can force him to do anything. Period. If you disagree, tell me one thing that can stop him from doing anything he wants?
Right? Could you imagine if one of us came to work & declared ourselves “kings” or “queens” & that we’re “saving the office”? People wouldn’t be like oh that’s just Jennifer or that’s just Paul, you know how they are. NO! Our coworkers would be worried & management would most likely ask us to go home for the day or write us up, maybe even fire us.
Not to mention any number of kings in Britain, France, plus a czar in Russia, which is pretty much the same thing when popular opinion of them changes.
Where does he get off ending congestion pricing in NYC? He is interfering in states rights. This is a violation of the 10th Amendment. Referring to himself as king, so boldly, tramples on the founding fathers and those who fought and died for our freedom from a king.
We need to end this madness. Surely this rises to high crimes and misdemeanors.
That was my question, as well. The city of NY is in charge of its traffic regulations, I would think. It’s not a federal issue. Just like he thinks he can change the Gulf of Mexico’s name! The U.S. does not own the Gulf! Who does he think he is? He’s so out of bounds on everything he does, and Congress is just going along like sheep! It’s disgusting!
