But we gotta do more. Senator Chris Murphy said it perfectly. That we need people to push back, we need millions peacefully protesting in DC, not just a few thousand. Where are the 75 million voters for kamala? Or the 90 million voters that didn't vote? We need all of those people, marching with us and the nonprofit groups Indivisible and 50501. it's our constitutional right to protests peacefully. Look at Europe. Millions came out in the streets to protests against hungarians, president Orban to resign millions! Millions came out in the streets of Romania to protest against fascism. America, we've become so comfortable and spoiled that we're sitting back waiting for a rescue ship that's not going to come. Fascism wins through compliancy and fear. We should've been out in the streets the moment an ounce of our democracy and freedoms was at stake. I'm disappointed in my fellow americans just sitting back and waiting to see what happens, because that is exactly how fascism wins and democracy crumbles.

I think part of the problem is that our country is VASTLY larger than most European countries. I was looking at Hungary where there were huge protests recently, but all of Hungary is the size of Indiana. You could drive to the capital.

People are forgetting that the government is: We The People For The People. By The People. We determine how our government should be, not trump, project 25 / heritage foundation. The politicians work for WE THE PEOPLE. there's not enough peoples in an in uproar, that they want to take away your democracy. You're human and civil rights, and they get determined what's best for you like your healthcare and your overall health. It really annoys me that most americans are walking around like it's just business as usual like this is normal. This isn't normal. We are in a constitutional crisis. We have a domestic threat, and if that's not enough to fight for, then we're a lost cause. The 77 million that voted for him isn't half of America. The 75 million that voted for kamala and the 90 million who didn't vote at all have a say, much larger say, so let's do this.

Expand full comment
Alexis's avatar

We have to make sacrifices. I rather lose my job than my freedom. Not only will you lose your freedom, your family will lose their freedom. Your friends and your neighbors will lose their freedom. This is the problem. America is such an individualistic country that we can't come together thinking of others and only about ourselves. We have to fight against tyranny. That's our only choice right now. Look at what happened in Russia in the 2000's and 1930's Germany. We are on the same path and we need to stop being in denial about it. We need to come together and fight.

💯 the president of the heritage foundation and one of the writers of the project25 was so excited to know that project25 is 37% completed how f**king scary is?!!? Everything that's going on looks chaotic, but it's all orchestrated and planned. They've been planning this since 2020. When he lost the election. The dismantling of the federal government, closing all the agencies firing all the staff, making healthcare practically unreachable, taking away veterans, benefits your social security, medicaid, food off our plate is all orchestrate so that they can bring it to knees. So when the government infrastructure collapse, they can rebuild it as a white nationalist, evangelical country where rich white men rule over you, and we human beings, whether you're women, minorities ,working class or the poor had no human or civil rights. If that's not enough to fight for your rights and your freedom, I don't know what is

Expand full comment
NiaSky's avatar

Seth I hear you. But we have to choose and make a sacrifice. A day off of work, or four or more years of a dictatorship where you have no rights and where your rights are determined by billionaires and the founders and president of the heritage foundation who are the writers and architect of project25. Everything that's happening in DC right now from dismantling the federal government, closing all the agencies, firing all the workers and the scientists and cutting your healthcare, veteran benefits, and social security it's pretty much orchestrate to bring America to its knees. And then once it collapse, they will rebuild it as a white nationalist and evangelical country. Where rich white men rule over you, and the poor ,working class women and minorities have no civil or human rights. They will control your every movement, and your home will be installed with camera, so they can watch your every move. So those are the choices.

I believe these things too. But, I can’t afford to travel to DC. I can’t afford to leave my disabled husband. I can’t afford to leave my job, take three days off to protest. People are economically hamstrung.

Carin Heidelbach's avatar

NiaSky, I think you're missing our point. I can't leave, as much as I'd like to, and fly back and forth to DC to protest. I participate as much as I can, locally, as do many. I can't leave two disabled people to fend for themselves. Don't make folks feel worse about things they can't control. I'm very aware of the potential loss of my husband's disability payments. And the potential loss of my insurance, his Medicare. No one is going to care for my disabled spouse while I go protest. I can't even get someone to cover his needs to get a freaking haircut. Your enthusiasm for our rights is admirable and I appreciate it. But some us just can't participate in the way you want.

We also need more than a few Democrats to get on TV and internet news and make more news and noise. Murphy, Van Hollen, Warren, and Bernie are out there but not together. AND as I saw mentioned somewhere else, where are the former Dem presidents and VPs and Kamala? They could buy time on the national networks and get folks energized and motivated! Urgh.

Expand full comment
NiaSky's avatar

No. We need more of we the people. The government is We The people For the people. By the people. Kamala is resting as she should. She tried to warn us about project25 and our democracy but people didn't show up for her as she did for us Black women have been fighting the freedom fight all of their life, it's time for white women to take lead lead 52% of white women voted for trump.

I hope this is a first sign that the Supreme Court is recognizing the serious threat posed to the Constitutional authority and power of the judiciary by autocratic policies and actions.
