I am sorry that I did not see this. Other than being very hot, it was a peaceful, hope filled event.

I sent this to our governor of Colorado. Please send this to your governor.

Dear Governor,

I am writing to express concern regarding the current climate surrounding peaceful protests in our state and across the nation.

At present, demonstrations against the president and his policies remain nonviolent. Organizers and participants have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to peaceful assembly and nonviolent action. However, the growing militarization of local law enforcement—particularly through the 287(g) agreement with ICE—poses a serious risk of escalating tensions and potentially provoking violence.

We are witnessing a troubling trend nationwide: the aggressive detention of both undocumented and documented immigrants, often in violation of constitutional protections such as habeas corpus. The use of force by masked and deputized individuals working alongside ICE raises profound legal and ethical concerns, particularly when such tactics are directed not only at immigrants but also at peaceful protesters.

As Governor, you have the authority to deploy the Colorado National Guard to ensure public safety and protect the constitutional rights of peaceful demonstrators. I urge you to consider this step to safeguard citizens from the misuse of force and to reaffirm Colorado’s commitment to justice and civil liberties.

The upcoming No Kings protest on June 14, planned across Colorado and throughout the United States, may be one of the largest single-day demonstrations in American history. It is vital that these protests be allowed to proceed without fear of violence or unlawful interference.

Please act to protect peaceful protesters. Your leadership is needed now more than ever.

Respectfully,

Cheryl Lafon

Thank you for your activism! In California, a sanctuary State, our local police are not getting involved. There have been ICE raids in the L.A.

garment district this week, and protesting erupted against ICE at the downtown L.A. court house. The protest continued well into Friday night/early Saturday. ICE was heavily armed, wearing masks, and with armored war vehicles. This insanity with the Trump regime must be stopped.

What if the mobilizing of the National Guard is an excuse to use the insurrection act by Trump? Also, aren’t the National Guard ultimately US Armed Forces, answering to the addictator in chief. Why do I call him that? Because he is addicted to power.

I am in the no side camp. I find both sides irresponsible and disgusting. Both sides start as paupers and retire as millionaires. Think each disgusting creature does what their funding corp pay masters tell them to do, not POTUS on either side who is also controlled by pay-masters. Geo Washington warned what damage party sides may do to a nation, here we are proving him correct. End lobby bucks, limit campaign funds and the party system and we may get some more honest politicians on all sides.

You make valid points, but I do not agree that Dems are as bad as the Maga party. Credit to the conniving leaders of the GOP for playing the long game. The Dems are mostly inept and don't know how to fight.

A major overhaul needs to take place in politics, but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime, if at all. The corruption is deep.

Seems you and I have some similar ideas. Although I see the R as not knowing how to fight and dems better at playing long game. Either way I think as a whole we would be better off with no party system and then we the peasants would be better united. I see the party system as a way to divide and weaken the peasants. IMO if no party system we the plebs/peasants would be far more untied.

I see there are those on both sides who are united in some ideas, but do not unite due to the party divide. Why “we are so screwed” seems to be the biggest unite there is no uniting definition on either side. Sides are divided by DEI good/bad, climate good/bad, etc yet if we the plebs could share ideas without the team divide we would be stronger than the overlords. My views don’t make peps happy on either side, lol. Just keep hoping we can get past the divide and unite on some ideas.p, even if tiny it is a start.

I have never cared for the two-party (tribal) system and all the money that flows into the two parties, but for now, I will continue to vote for Dems.

Hopefully the younger generations will bring about significant change. I am a boomer (almost 70) and many believe we caused all of this. They may be right, sad to say.

Sadly from what I have seen, history is no longer taught and think it could be a factor to lead to our destruction. So few anymore value independence and prefer dependence. I have zero respect for either side and likely will never change my view on that so have no faith either side will do anything to dig this country out of the ditch. It has been a nice correspondence and wish you a wonderful weekend.

Baseboard, when Hitler was in his ascendency, some people (like you) were saying “he’s not soo bad; there are bad politicians on both sides.”

Just because you have an idea, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Please reconsider your tactics.

The more there are of us protesting PEACEFULLY the less danger any one of us is in. This is a fact referred to in my reading on the 3.5% Solution. We need to get this job done and ten million people is the goal to overturn the most corrupt ever DOJ and POTUS and GOP!

URGENT! If you know anyone in LA tell them go home now! ICE is there to incite. Think on it. Trump is silent. He is doing nothing because it is a trap. Marshall Law is just a breath away. You in LA are giving him his most wished for birthday present you stupid fuckers! Because of your aggressive push back which is not peaceful no one will ever be able to protest again. Go home!

I’m not in LA and the friends I do have happen to be in NY.

As far as the military goes, I have family in the military and some of my neighbors are retired military that still speak to active members and most of them, do not like what is happening to our country and are not going to take illegal orders. Marshal law would be the end of Trump. And I’m telling you that is a fact. So if that’s the way he ends up going, it’s over for him and his admin. I have a cousin that is stationed in South Korea when that far right extremist who won the presidency at the end of last year and tried to implement marshal law. The people weren’t having it. It was over quickly and he was there to see it.

But I’m not looking for that to happen. I’ve been protesting peacefully and will be on the 14th.

But like I said, the military does not belong to Donald Trump.

thanks -- you may have saved me a sleepless night -- but I know the type -- and you need the ability to see thru walls and around corners to stay one step ahead -- and I'm usually right -- my instincts are well developed and have served me very well acting on my own -- it is a certain form of prescience -- and it's painful to be alone in what I can see so clearly
