What a slap in the face to the memory of former President Jimmy Carter by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Trump will never, ever, ever possess a modicum of the character and compassion that President Carter had; especially all of his actions post presidency. Trump and Carter are two completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Trump is beyond being a shameful being and so are all of his acolytes like Abbott.

Thanks for this wrap up Aaron and all of the work you do to keep us informed.

I’m one subscriber who left The Post after years of daily subscriptions. My reason? Bezos put his foot down and refused to let the Post endorse Harris. That finished me off.

If I were a business , I would fly that flag at half staff regardless of what Abbott says. I know govt building will fly but all others wouldn’t have to

The saying “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!” Comes to mind and I wonder if Zuck and Musk forgot this!

It will not stop there for many of us. I unfollowed a few of them already! Also, Amazon is getting used by me much less these days. I have started ordering products from other websites, if not the actual product website. Many have similar price points. Facebook/Meta/Zuckerberg! Well, I removed 31 so called friends that were not really my friends and not of like mind with me directly after the election and continue to cull out more daily. Many use Facebook as a weapon for destruction and hate, so that must go soon. I subscribed to Dr. Heather Cox-Richardson in early 2020 and am one of her faithful’s. Leigh McGowan (Politics Girl) is fantastic to follow, and she and Heather did a podcast not too long ago and they are a winning pair! Thank goodness for other platforms. I subscribed to MTN and Heather Cox-Richardson on Substack, so I can watch the videos, read their posts, and respond. I follow LegalAF, Tennessee Brando, Steven Schmidt, ChasingOz, Michael Cohen, Brian Tyler Cohen, and just love them all. I cannot pay to join all of them, I simply don’t have the available funds, but I am infinitely grateful I can watch and read what they post for free. I do tell any and all who wish to know who and what I am following, and I get asked quite often. I have not joined BlueSky just yet but may in the future. Thank you all - who contribute to Substack. I avoid Amazon. I buy local. The only thing I have ever been interested in buying from Amazon or books, and if I need one I can go to half.com or something like that

I have a quite a collection of books too, and that's one place I buy them, and the other is eBay. Sometimes gently used at a reduced rate of cost. I love to turn pages, dovetail corners a d refer back to for content. Brava!

I respect your posts and look forward to them. I just wanted you to know that while I would enjoy getting "the full experience" of your posts, I cannot afford to UPGRADE TO PAID (as I am CONSTANTLY reminded throughout all Substack posts). PLEASE do not think for an instant that because I won't be UPGRADING TO PAID,that does mean I do not support Aaron. It just means that, at 77 years old and surviving on social security, I cannot afford to UPGRADE TO PAID. Thank you for reading.

I don't like journalists who tell me what political positions I should or should not take. Not sure how I feel about the TikTok ban, but it's not your place as a "journalist" to tell me what my position should be. That's why legacy media is dying: people want to trust that journalists are sharing unbiased facts, not telling us what to think or how to vote. You are clearly biased in favor of Democrats as opposed to Republicans, and that compromises your integrity as a journalist. it also causes me not to trust what you "report".

Thank You Aaron! I believe that it’s the younger generation that will save our Democracy. A lot of current politicians are standing by precedent to try to keep the GOP in line. The GOP are to me me me focused to give a flying fig about precedent. It’s time to head in another direction and the young people will take is there!!

As in many countries who are drifting toward right-wing populism, independent journalism/journalists are going to be what we will need to stay informed. Something like the "underground newspapers" in Germany as Hitler took over.
