And the repercussions????? Nothing. Our elected representatives will do absolutely nothing. Slap his hand, clean up the mess. Meanwhile he will continue his slash and burn rampage and the country pays the price.

Craig Spratt's avatar

Exactly!! Our elected officials will laud his actions even though he broke the law. What consequences will there be? None!! If no Pres has ever been jailed while in office, let 47 be the first. This administration wants to be unconventional, then the Courts and Congress can as well. But unfortunately, the bite Congress once had has been muzzled by sycophants. Put his ass in Jail!!!

Maria K.'s avatar

Exactly. So sick of it.

trump thumbs his nose at laws & judges. He thinks he’s a king, he acts like a dictator, & our Congressmen & women, who have the power to change a lot of his behavior, just look the other way & shrug. Shame on them!

Cheryl Seybert's avatar

I came here to say the same thing @Tami Bighead!!

Kat Hudy's avatar

It’s up to the judge, not the Representatives. It’s a legal issue, not congressional. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all about stopping Trump in everything. But it’s a Judicial call.

How did the administration verify these were all Venezuelan gang members? Did they come from an American prison where they had been convicted? And isn’t the premise behind deportation that they get sent back to their home country? El Salvador is not Venezuela. This is slave trade.

Paul Kern's avatar

This is spot on!! Thank you, Eva for pointing this out!

Your questions continue to irk me as well. Especially after seeing the case of one individual who was shipped off to Guantanamo based on his tattoos being “gang-affiliated”, thought that was quickly debunked by family members. We have no idea who those 238 people are. And knowing this administration, they likely don’t care enough to use the proper means to identify these individuals. And yes, even if there are gang members among them, they should be going back to Venezuelan prisons, not being shipped off to be laborers in mass prisons in El Salvador.

The trump administration has broken or disobeyed court orders “Before” coming into office. This is the norm for this administration. It is becoming the norm with the “Judges” NOT holding him or them accountable. It’s as if, we are just venting to each other on social media.

Bonnie Council's avatar

Exactly. And our observations & questions & concerns go nowhere.

Donna Brown's avatar

It appears that way. I enjoy Substack, Aaron, and everyone keeping us informed. I wish our Constitutional Rights were protected and upheld.

I watched on flight radar and the first plane did not turn around. Subsequent planes took off AFTER the ruling. THEY BLATANTLY IGNORED the Judge.

aurora☀️'s avatar

Oh wow, but how did you know which planes to track on the radar?

Kat Hudy's avatar

No doubt told to do so by the Monster President!!!

Nicole's avatar

So why wouldn’t the judge put the same thing he said out loud in the written order just to prevent the Trump administration from playing fast and loose with the law and looking for loopholes such as this⁉️

DEO's avatar

One order ignored the rest will fall like dominoes. I agree with Emily Melander, senior ranking military past and present need to get together and make a plan, sooner than later. At the first hint, not the second or third, of the military being asked to do something not in line with the constitution.

FWIW, the Alien and Sedition Acts cost Adams’ his second term (he lost to Jefferson in 1800).

Nothing will be done. Nothing g was done when he stole confidential documents. Or when he encouraged an insurrection. Or when he didn't pay vendors. He's a convicted felon & should never been allowed on any political ballot.

Taya's avatar

He has immunity from SC. How the hell is anything supposed to work correctly

Linda Holt's avatar

He could be held in contempt!

Ted Holzman's avatar

I find it very unsettling that the word “proclamation” is being used. Is it your choice, Aaron, or does it come out of the White House? I associate proclamations with kings.

Garious's avatar

It's obvious we have to help ourselves. No one is going to help us. We need to get outside and protest in numbers never seen before. We also need to remember ALL the politicians that led us down this road.

Emily Melander's avatar

Protests are good but we need to do more than simply march about with signs and megaphones.

We need to stop this coup ourselves. Congress isn’t going to do anything, especially with Schumer at the reins of the Democrats in the House.

Many senior ranking military officers are opposed to Trump and what he’s doing. There is a ripple among the rank-and-file service members who are also opposed. They swore an oath (as did I when I served in the Navy) to defend the Constitution—not a person.

It would be totally justified, an historic first!

Garious's avatar

So you are suggesting Military Intervention? Who would legally lead that? And how would that work out?

Emily Melander's avatar

Well, I wouldn’t mind if it happened, but I don’t have any idea how they could do it. Trump’s coup of our country and everything good about it has to be stopped. You do realize that’s what’s going on? What he and his cabinet and Musk are doing is a coup. Not a military coup but a coup nonetheless.

Everything they are doing is illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral. They are destroying everything good about this country that has taken 250 years to build.

Our Declaration of Independence says that people have the right to abolish a government that becomes obstructive. The Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms because a State’s militia requires this. I suppose it’s up for interpretation, but Madison discussed how a State Militia should be able to hold off the Federal army.

It almost sounds like the Founders were worried about this situation, and sprinkled these seeds of thought to be nurtured if and when necessary.

You do realize your tone is condescending? My name on BlueSky is Liberty or Death. I'm a former Forensic Therapist and I'm well aware of what is going on.

Kat Hudy's avatar

I didn’t take it that way. Just thought Emily was upset like everyone else, and explained why she felt that way.

Garious's avatar

"simply marching about" and "You do undstand..." Are pretty condescending in my book.

You both are pretty dense if you can't tell by my reply. And how the hell is it any of your business?

Emily Melander's avatar

Wow. No, I had no idea. I’m sorry if I came across that way. I wasn’t really only speaking to just you. I figure lots of people read these posts, so I’m just laying it down the way I see it with some info and insight for anyone who’s interested.

Please tell me what is condescending about what I wrote. I forget my Bluesky handle, I haven’t started using it yet. Cheers

The Roberts Court heard case “Trump v United States” and gave the president immunity from criminal liability for crimes committed while in office. It’s too late to keep playing by the rules.

Garious's avatar

Whole heartedly agree! I'm a by any means necessary kind of person.

And it’s just another day in the neighborhood because they aren’t going to do shit about it. It’s the end of the world as we know it 🌏🔥

He quietly whispers, “You are right”. Is there an alternative to violent insurrection? If so, please tell me what it is.

In cases such as this, is that not the ONLY option?

This is a rabbit hole I’ve already started to go down and what I’m typing should be on everyone’s mind. Trump has ignored orders, broken laws and lied his way through life, through his public persona, and into the WH for a second term with the latter having one purpose, to avoid all of the law breaking and consequences thereof. The problem is that despite his assumption that the presidential immunity he was gifted by the Supreme Court, he, as POTUS, still has to answer to the rule of law and follow protocol when his actions of running the country by executive orders might by called into question legally, instead of going through the motions and behaving as required; he’s refusing. He will continue to refuse until SCOTUS gets a hold of this and rules on it. Even IF the Supreme Court find against him, would he obey them and if not to what extreme would he take the rejection of their ruling? This has been a burning question for months now given his disregard for people of authority such as judges at any level. I absolutely hope when this all ent up with SCOTUS that they find against him because then, and finally then, will we see to what lengths he will go to turn into the dictator they hath created. Is SCOTUS’s future on the line because of their own actions? He’s thus far refused to accept the House has equal power, will he ever show the Supreme Court similar disrespect. His refusal to honor the orders by this judge show his disregard for individuals of authority, his delusions of grandeur far exceed his willingness to honor the role he’s been “elected” to “play” … Consider our country without the power of the judiciary.⚖️

This is a great example of why a government shutdown would have been bad. Federal courts can only function 2-3 during a shutdown. At least we get to see the lawlessness happening in front of our faces.

Garious's avatar

A government shut down would have been bad. Agreeing to give an open road to autocracy is catastrophic.

Linda Heptner's avatar

Just wondering, have you heard what the small fee is that we have to pay that country for a year or longer? I know it was costing us to keep them in jail here, but I'm curious.
