EVERYONE call Susan Collins *NICELY* and offer encouragement. 207-784-6969

I've been calling Hawley, Murkowski, Paul,....can you think of any other mods I shouldbe calling?

I just called her. Thank you for providing the number. My elderly aunt lives in Maine so I begged the senator to vote against this big, ugly bill and to take care of her constituents.

Did you actually get to speak to her on the phone?

Expand full comment
Kimberly's avatar

I did not. I got voicemail, but it’s better than a busy signal which is what I usually get when calling various politicians. I’m only one person, but I’m not going down without a fight.

Karen Lumb's avatar

I called and got voicemail also. But I left a message urging her to continue to battle with republicans who are going to vote for this monstrosity of a bill

Expand full comment
Jill's avatar

I’m all for fighting for what is right, my question on whether or not you actually spoke to them, is because, if I have this correctly, they are all on the Senate floor per se and are not in immediate connection with a voice message unless it is rerouted to their personal phone, they won’t get the message until after the vote has already been taken.

Or best case scenario, that it does go to their phone, if they are busy hashing out amendments to this bill, my guess is that they still wouldn’t have listened to the messages until it’s too late. That’s even if they give it a second thought at all, that it’s more important to them to get what they want, not what their constituents want.

So sorry. I heard him on the live senate cast last night when Dems were speaking against the bill. It should be in the public record, but I don't know how to access that. It may be on his senate website for constituents. He should be proud of it.

I think the biggest thing I noticed growing up in Ohio is the party loyalty Republicans have . I knew people who voted Republican no matter what but then when you asked them about the candidate they didn’t know anything about them! Could never understand it!

You're exactly right. This started long before the MAGA frenzy.

Expand full comment
SLMontgo's avatar

But Ohio voted for Obama, iirc. Did they regret that?

Expand full comment
S. A. Linden's avatar

Low insight and attention span. Ohio's heavily and illegally gerrymandered too and there is a ton of racism still here. The cities were able to overcome that w/ Obama and show up, but Ohio is one of so many states where voters only show up for presidential elections. Our senators often are appointed to fill vacant seats and other dirty tricks and are household names that no one know much about. Easy to get fooled, considering the heavy campaign cash. FYI, Ohio still is a purple state, we're heavily kneecapped by the GOP interests because most Dems are in cities.

She knows what happens when Fox puts a name on that "decider." What she doesn't know is what armed MAGA voters could do when they turn on their elected politicians after the Big Betrayal. I'm not advocating violence, I want to be very clear about that. But when I hear with my own ears what Mitch McConnell supposedly said after he voted "yes" and was challenged on all the cuts to his own MAGA voters, it was this: "They'll get used to it."

I cannot convey how despicable that is.

What these republican senators need to know is

If they vote for the bill they will be out on their next election.

They are better off getting primaries & win than vote against the ppl who elect them & lose bc they fucked is all over for old man Trump .

Trump will die or America will die first.

That’s what we are down to with trumps big ugly bill that he calls “ his big beautiful bill” 🤥

What a lying , cheating narcissist jackass trump is!

Tillis should be proud of himself. He would actually get re elected bc he stood up to Trump.

Tell him thank you from America/ns

I don't want to burst your bubble, because I totally agree. But I read a concerning article last week about how Republicans intend to use legal challenges very aggressively in any of their losses in 2026 and beyond. Look how long they held up the NC election. They can stall our victories indefinitely and essentially put any Dem majority out of commission for workable purposes. Sigh. These guys are evil.

Expand full comment
Jay's avatar

Well then we vote them out so significantly they can’t stand a chance.

The American ppl are sick of them & their loyalty to old man trump.

They are willing to destroy all of us & our country for trump.

They better think this out bc their bubble is definitely a delusion in their minds.

We ppl aren’t telling them what we think but 74% of the population is sick AsF of trump & their compliance of the sick orange pos sitting in our WH that didn’t legitimately win ( per both trump & elons confession by accident)

Maga is loud do they seem like a lot but they aren’t. Trump is losing support in droves.

They really better get the message especially in a swing state. They will be f*cked!

Even red states are sick of trump & what he’s going to us individually & as a whole.

I’d advice them to vote against the trump bill if they want to be able to show their faces in public ever again.
