If there is anything obvious about the ICE increase request, I point them back to Martin Niemoller's famous quote: "First they came for the socialists/communists . . . "(versions vary)
If they are going to do their ugly job and get rid of the immigrants, why do we need them later? Who are they coming for anyway?
As far as I know he had a stroke that caused him to take a leave from his duties for awhile. As a retired RN who was a Rehab nurse years ago, some cognitive and behavioral problems can remain after a stroke, even though motor skills return for everyday tasks. I have wondered about Fetterman’s seeming “personality “ changes and reversals of support for progressive policies that he supported during his election campaign. As long as he votes along with fellow Democrats I wouldn’t have a problem, but this horrendous time in our history calls for aggressive resistance against everything the magat/ fascist republicans throw at our country.
I recall his stroke happened during the 2024 election campaign, and everyone (Dems) rallied around and protected him from being disqualified for a health-related issue. During his recovery, he participated in a debate with Oz where he struggled a bit with some words. Then, after he won and was sworn in as a Senator, he went through a clinical depression that he took some time away from his duties to deal with. After that he seemed to have a personality change of some sort or we were just seeing the real Fetterman we didn't see prior.
I am a Canadian physician, and I think he is ill. I would not judge him harshly, but would be wary that he will make correct decisions because of brain injury.
Shelly, I agree. He has voted for Republicans to take office. And he just wants to go to the Beach. Too bad. He was a good man for the American people.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN! She has been "for the people" during her whole time in the senate and is indefatigable champion of the little guy. She also, having been a teacher, explains things in ways that everyone can understand. I had the great pleasure of speaking with her outside a diner in Arlington, and she listens, she laughs and she rolls up her sleeves. Proud that MA elected her and continues to support her.
I remember (all those many years ago...) when she ran for POTUS and I thought she would be the most wonderful choice precisely because of what you mentioned!
I’m in North Carolina. I want to hear from Thom Tillis because he’s retiring now and apparently has nothing else to lose. I’d like to hear from the parliamentarian, Elizabeth MacDonough, too!
Hope you feel better soon, Aaron! Senator Warren and her colleagues must defend democracy by stopping the Big Ugly Disaster! The fascists fired public servants like my partner and many jobs including mine are at stake: https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/dei-public-servant-fired
To be fair, Warren has done everything she possibly can. She is currently ranked Progressive punch's #1 most progressive senator and I don't think she's been out of the top 5 in all the years I've been checking this weekly. (By contrast, Bernie has never cracked the top ten. Some people do more than talk — they deliver.)
Utahn here. Lee is losing support. Funny outdoorsy Utahns don't want their lands sold and they don't condone political violence. Even in Utah J6th didn't go over well
Call over and over and over. All office numbers for every Republican Senator are on my spreadsheet. Make those phones never stop ringing.
Use/share this spreadsheet as a resource to call/email/write members of Congress, the Cabinet and news organizations. Reach out to those in your own state, as well as those in others. Use your voice and make some “good trouble” ❤️🩹🤍💙
Just want to say I've loved watching you get to where you are today and looking forward to your bright future! You're my number one news source because you keep it real. 😁
Love your work and please ask Democratic Senators to delay Trump’s “Big Bullshit Bill” by using “Object to Unanimous Consent” like Senator Tuberville until July 4th Protests. Thank you so much for your awesome dedication and passion so hope you feel better!
Sorry to hear about your ear infections I have felt that pain Not fun!! How about Hawley since he seems to be fascilating back and forth . Hard to get them to move to the right side when Trump has been attacking only the blue states with all he has…. more ICE, refusal to give aid etc
Hawley should remember running from the 1/6 rioters. Trump doesn’t care what his safety. If Hawley also betrays his constituents, who is going to have his back and where is he going to run 🏃♂️
June 30, 2025 — With the AI policy world watching Congress closely, here’s the latest on the federal budget bill and its proposed 10-year moratorium on state AI laws.
As of Sunday night, Republican leaders in the Senate had offered a compromise to members of their party who objected to the moratorium. The new language decreases the moratorium on state AI laws from 10 years to 5 years and carves out exceptions for state laws that protect minors and the image, likeness, or voice of an individual.
The Hill reported late Sunday night:
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said Sunday that she reached a deal with Senate Commerce Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on new text for a provision in President Trump’s sweeping tax package that seeks to bar states from regulating artificial intelligence (AI).
The updated text would enact a “temporary pause,” banning states from regulating AI for five years if they want access to $500 million in AI infrastructure and deployment funding included in the bill. The original provision, which Blackburn opposed, sought to limit state legislation for a 10-year period.
It also includes new exemptions for state laws seeking to regulate unfair or deceptive practices, children’s online safety, child sexual abuse material and publicity rights.
Kill the Bill. “Negotiating” is not an option. These people are terrorists as defined by the Law & We The People do not negotiate with said terrorists.
Thank you Senator and Aaron. Please keep an eye on Fetterman!!
He will be voting against the bill. Nothing to worry about there!
You sure? He's all over the place on everything but his wardrobe!
Nothing to worry about? He flips on everything lately.
Never say never with that guy.
Yay! He’s finally doing something. He’s my representative in PA and we are NOT happy with him
What about the massive ICE budget increase? Why is no one
worried about that and the way that could be used against Americans??
I'm not just worried, I'm incensed. They claim to care about "crime" but this is wasting money on non-crime.
I was wondering th same thing!
Because folks think someone else will be affected, not them or theirs.
Astonishing how most Americans only care about themselves or people super close to them
And think they’ll be the exception to the

Isnt Fetterman a cancer survivor? Will it affect his attitude towards health care reductions and research?

No, he had a stroke, and his brain hasn't recovered and he's relapsed into some kind of brain fog where he thinks he's a Republican.
He is currently ranked one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate. I remember when people were worried that he was too fiery at progressive!
Keep calling Fetterman and reinforcing how he will be helping us by voting NO.
Would love to see if: does he show up to vote; how does he vote
Shelly, I agree. He has voted for Republicans to take office. And he just wants to go to the Beach. Too bad. He was a good man for the American people.
Thank you Aaron 💙 I enjoyed the interview with Senator Elizabeth Warren and all the information.

She is Fearless! Unafraid of confronting smug CEOs and grilling them mercilessly in hearings. Love her!

He came out against it
Oh, I know… I just know that Aaron might ask him a few more questions that I’d like answers to
Good point!!
Thank you Aaron (feel better) and thank you Senator Warren!
