Are we now officially in a police state? Seems pretty much like we are with Hegseth sending our own soldiers against us in more than one state now.

Sadly, the funding of ICE through this bill makes it so.

The marines and national guard were in Los Angeles and all they did was stand around. It was just for optics.

Abuse of the military's power. From a guy who dodged the draft several times with a note bought by Daddy. He calls us suckers and losers. This is fascism and tyranny. This is Viktor Orban's playbook. Remember, Orban was at Mar A Logo in September and then went to Russia.

I so agree they’re in a cult like following. It’s to late they have been sucked into nothing but hate and violence!!! Sad but true. tRUMP has been in there heads starting in 2012. It seems it’s much to easy to hate in this Country since he stepped into the picture when he decided to start the separation of All!!!! He’s Satan in disguised.. it’s a disgrace what this country has let this scum get away with All this!!!!! #NOTAHAPPYCAMPER#

Trump has given people a reason to hate and permission to bring it out into the open. They channel their hate and it consumes their lives, so they don't pay attention to what is really causing the pain in their lives. Get an education? Nah, blame the ones working to get an education instead. Pay too low? Well, it's obviously someone else's fault, not their own because they refuse to improve their skills. Quality of life not up to standards? Well, it's obviously the immigrants' fault because they are taking American jobs (ignoring that they are jobs most Americans wouldn't take anyway) and watching them get mistreated and violently deported is entertainment for them and takes their mind off their problems!

If Trump wanted a Civil War, he sure is laying the groundwork quickly. It’s so sad and disgusting to see so many senators and representatives cave to this hypocrite that they elected while telling their constituents that they are “trying” to do what is best for them.

Trump is a slow learner. Hitler pulled it off in a mere 53 days. It took Trump 164 days. That’s 3 times as long.

Maybe — if we are allowed an election in 2026 — someone can point that out during his impeachment. I’m sure that bit of math would humiliate and anger him plenty.

That's wild and also extremely disrespectful to the families that they hurt by supporting the representatives that voted for the bill by doing a freaking YMCA dance.

Expand full comment
jackie graziano's avatar

The fact that the song YMCA, by the Village People, is Trump's song of choice, as well as his constituents, in which to celebrate and dance to, mystifies me. Firstly, given the song's history and the fact that the Village People's background as a group with many gay members suggest an underlying meaning. The song, which came out in the latter part of 1978, has long since served as the anthem of the LGBTQ+ community. In context, it is the acronym for the Young Men's Christian Association, however it also carries undertones of the popular gay cruising spot, particularly during the 1970s.

I have always loved this song, however, it astonishes me that, given the way I understand Trump and his followers to feel in regards to the gay community, that they would choose this song as their ‘anthem’.

Honestly, I no longer feel any pity for any of the Republicans or their supporters. None. Yes, unfortunately we are all going to suffer because of their idiocy and cowardice, but them? I am not going to waste five seconds feeling bad for them. They deserve every single horrible thing that's coming to them. And any time any of them complains how "this is not what I voted for" I will yell "We told you so" in their face. Yes, it's petty. But you know what? I don't see how else we survive at this point except by sheer spite.
