Actually you can. Just don’t serpentine. It’s a myth. Gators are generally lazy. It’s why they wait in the water to strike out.

That's interesting. I'd read that they have been clocked at 20 mph speeds, which sounds phenomenal. But I guess, only when they're hungry?

They can’t maintain the speed very long. Just don’t be directly next to the water or too out of shape. 😅 With my knee I probably would screw up and die. Lmao but generally it is possible! 🤣

Alito just bought a new medieval parchment (I know.... the contradiction) explaining why medieval people can own and use thermal nuclear devices when going shopping.

Kavanaugh is out of beer.

Thomas "happy face" Clarence is buying (being given) a new recreational bus with swimming pool and bowling alley.

The 6th one who's name I keep forgetting is forcing some new 'loans' out of his "sponsors.

So, don't hold your breath while waiting for a SCOTUS decision that will help "We, The People".

I think it's Stephen Miller telling ice to do whatever by any means.. he wants numbers up so he makes his money. Could be T but I think they are not telling him what's going on. I could be wrong but Miller is just as evil or worse than T. Supposedly T didn't know Hegseth stopped the delivery of military equipment to Ukraine. People need to be fired. I wish there was something we could do to help the immigrants. I feel awful for them. They chased Ice away from entering a hospital in LA. This is what needs to be done... I'm a little blue dot in a very red state in a small town and nothing happens here. Praying this nightmare ends soon.

We're being "bombed" by ICE, just as in Gaza and Ukraine. Indiscriminate terror tactics aimed at innocent civilians. At what level of obscenity does the country have to plunge before we take action? We've defined the problem, now we must take courage and define the solutions.

Our grandfathers and grandmothers kicked over the carts, tossed the tea and rebelled against Mad King George, well it's our Revolution now against Mad King Donald! Don't give up on our Constitution. Its may be flawed and def needs some amendments, but it's our glue and the soul of our democracy. Hold it close

Expand full comment
Nicole L.'s avatar

I think a revolution is going to be needed. But it's going to look a lot different in 2025 when some people are more obsessed with identity than they care about unity and freedom, and police forces are as militarized as the military. Things were wildly different when it was a self-sufficient people against a king in another country. Or North vs South. We have technology that changes so many things. This isn't a democracy. It's not a full autocracy yet, either. But it is close. It's going to take some unifying force to get people on the same page to change it. The last time this happened and fascism was running rampant in the US was before the US entered WWII. It took Pearl Harbor for the US to even enter the war on the side of the allies. The US was rampant with fascist Nazi extremists. People seem to forget or not even know about that part of history. Likely because it isn't widely written about or studied. Rachel Maddow wrote a book about it called "Prequel: An American Fight Against Fascism". People know about the Nuremberg trials, but don't seem to know about the US Senate hearings to call out the Nazis in the US government. Now we have a president who is all the bad things, and a ton of his supporters who aren't any better! It's going to take a LOT of government reform to stop it and make sure it never happens again. I don't see that happening anytime soon. While I'd like to be altruistic and hopeful, I'm also a realist with a good grasp of history and insane pattern recognition skills. People lie. Patterns do not.

The Constitution is a contract with the people. IANAL or a Constitutional expert, but a business contract broken by one side is null and void. Just sayin'.

Expand full comment
Nicole L.'s avatar

You are right to an extent. The Constitution is a social contract reliant on the good faith of people to uphold it. It is supposed to be protected by checks and balances and laws. But the forefathers could have never prepared for this or guessed that so many people within government who swear an oath to uphold the Constitution would be such bad faith actors. Nor that there would be so many of them who established so many paths around the Constitution and the checks ans balances. In a Democracy, the power is supposed to be with the people who all have a respect for the Constitution. That isn't the case right now.

Your post reminded me of when I owned and was managing and herding alpacas. They were smart, so we had to outthink and out maneuver them whenever necessary to shepherd them from here to there for whatever reasons..."with so many paths around [us] with checks and balances." Well, we learned how to guide them in the direction necessary by establishing respect, calm, safety and trust.

We would enlist outside help when needed, and utilize understanding of their natural instincts to prod them to move together, as a consolidated herd, in the direction of our choosing.

On occasion, an alpaca owner would find themselves dealing with a berserk adult alpaca, who'd been trained improperly when young. It was a challenge to care for and manage their behavior. Some had to be isolated from the herd and some had to sadly be put down when an immediate danger to others.

Since these bad faith actors in our government are all inclined to follow each other in lockstep, we need to consider how to change their behaviors.

When haltering an alpaca, one gently tugs on the lead rope at an angle to get them off balance in order to change direction and follow our lead. So, we need a nice strong lead rope, held by someone with an informed experienced demeanor, and a lot of animal behavior psychology added in.

This is perhaps how to change maga's thinking and actions, just like we do with alpacas in training.

* The Price of Freedom: A Nation's Stand

My fellow Americans,

We stand at a precipice. The very foundation of our democracy, the principles that define us as a nation – freedom, justice, and the power of the people – are under siege. A regime has taken root that seeks to dismantle these ideals, to centralize power, and to silence the voices of ordinary Americans.

This is not a drill. This is not a partisan debate. This is a battle for the soul of our nation, and we, the American people, are the last line of defense.

To reclaim our democracy, we must face an uncomfortable truth: we must halt the engine that fuels this regime. We must, together, choose to disrupt the very systems it relies upon. This means a collective act of non-cooperation. It means temporarily stopping the flow of productivity that empowers those who seek to undermine us. It means, for a time, accepting financial pain.

I understand the gravity of these words. I know the fear and uncertainty that such a prospect evokes. Families will struggle. Businesses will face hardship. But I ask you: what is the cost of losing our democracy? What is the price of living under a system where our rights are eroded, our voices are silenced, and our future is dictated by a few? That cost, my friends, is far greater and far more enduring than any temporary economic pain we might endure.

Think of those who came before us – who risked everything, who shed blood and treasure, to establish and preserve this nation. They endured famine, war, and unimaginable sacrifice for the promise of a free society. Are we, in this generation, less capable of defending that legacy?

This is not about surrender. This is about strategic withdrawal of our energy and resources from a system that has become weaponized against us. By stopping our collective productivity, we starve the regime of its power. We deny it the resources it needs to perpetuate its control. We create an undeniable crisis that forces a reckoning.

This will be painful. There is no sugarcoating it. But we are a resilient people. We are ingenious. We will organize. We will support each other through community, through shared resources, and through the unbreakable bonds of our common purpose. We must prepare for this pain, knowing that it is the necessary path to a greater good.

The choice before us is stark: a brief, intense period of shared hardship for the promise of a free future, or a slow, agonizing slide into authoritarianism with consequences that will echo for generations.

Let us rise to this challenge. Let us stand together, united in our resolve. Let us choose freedom, no matter the cost. Our democracy, our future, depends on it.

God bless America!
