Countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

The kangaroo court has sided with the king. We must keep taking to the streets. Here is a No Kings anthem for us to sing together: https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/no-kings-anthem

That's catchy. Thanks! We've been waiting for that kind of song. It needs lots of play time.

So, except for one case, the SCOTUS took a complete blowtorch to our Constitution. What a terribly dark day for our country.

So for the one allowing parents to opt out for lgbtq classes are we opting them out of some science classes as well since some don’t believe in vaccines due to religious reasons either. I can think of so many topics taught in school that are “against” religion. This is so targeted. Separate church and state. We should not allow ignorance due to religion.

As a person who once worked for a county children's service, it seems troubling to me. We need a "Children's Bill of Rights," which would include equal access to educational opportunities.

I can't take credit, but thanks. The idea has been floating around for years, but I guess it's too "complicated" for our political simpletons to tackle. There is ferocious pushback as well, as you can guess.

So in 2nd grade most curriculums deal with family and community. How is a gay or trans or nonbinary teacher supposed to teach about that without talking about themselves & LGBTQ+ persons in the community? Will parents be able to say, “I don’t want my kid in that classroom?” This decision is absolutely cruel and ludicrous. We are going so incredibly far backwards! It’s heartbreaking.💔

SCOTUS is basically kissing the ring and slowly taking a chisel to our constitution. If you look back to the 80’s and learn about the Heritage Foundation you will see that this organization has been putting this SCOTUS in place since then. They helped write project 2025. I could never prove this because I don’t have the resources but I feel like members of SCOTUS is helping to enact project 2025 and begin to make America an authoritarian regime. I wish we could vote for our Supreme Court nominees.

Funny how for Mahmoud v Taylor, they can say religious grounds are valid for opting out of LGBTQ content, but they'll still uphold things like public schools hanging the 10 commandments in classrooms

Expand full comment
Ronnie Call's avatar

Since Arkansas legislature passed a bill mandating all public schools must post the Protestant 10 commandments in large enough font to be seen anywhere in the room, I’m wondering if parents can opt out of their students being taught in those rooms on rreligious grounds.

Tyler Rawson's avatar

This is basically why the Satanic Temple came about. They challenge things like posting the Ten Commandments in schools by demanding their own religious displays too, showing how public institutions can’t favor one religion. Their name is mainly for shock value, but they actually stand for things like equality, religious freedom, and separation of church and state.
