Soooo are we at the running around screaming point yet?

Juno's avatar

Crashing out several times a day. Had to go on blood pressure meds yesterday.

Tonia Kate's avatar

Susan, I don’t know what to say except that I wish you well.

At 73 years of age, I thought I had “seen everything”.

Yesterday, I had an appointment with my doctor of 28 years and was put on anxiety meds and antidepressants, for the first time in my life.

We are all in this house of cards called American democracy hoping the roof stays up. It’s scary that a great many people are indifferent to the threat of the muskrat dismantling fed agencies that keep our country running and Americans safe from harm from threats foreign and domestic. Thank goodness I have a mixed menagerie of mutts (two stray mamas and two of the puppies) who keep me laughing. And I can take them outside and romp with them. I am 73 also and thought the worst was tRump’s first administration but this time around has brought out my hatred and disgust of the rapey felon more than before and contempt for the people who voted for him even though some are family and friends. Can’t justify voting for a rapey criminal mafia boss like him but some rationalized that he would “fix the economy and immigration “ and ignored or disregarded his criminality.

Juno's avatar

Yeah I’m on those too. I really hope they help you in some way. You’re not alone.

Tonia Kate's avatar

Thank you, I’m praying they help. The anti anxiety pills have already helped, but my doctor said that the antidepressants could take weeks to feel the effects. I’m so angry. I have lived through so many difficult times, but never needed medications to get through them.

My younger son is an airline pilot, so I’m having a lot of stress over that now, too - in addition to hearing trump’s lies every day. He is absolutely toxic.

Please take care of yourself :)

My friend's avatar

I started at 46. Never thought I'd need it. This year, I think I need to up them!

Tonia Kate's avatar

That is certainly understandable. Take care of yourself. It helps to know that we are in this together.

Jacqueline's avatar

Along with you, at 74, it is more than anything I've seen before.

I always thought Carter/Reagan was the major shift... but this if far far worse.

Tonia Kate's avatar

Please take care of yourself. I think this might be more difficult on the elderly. My friend is 77, and she was an attorney for 45 years. She is always so stoic, and she says that she is afraid she won’t get through this.

People of our age do not need to have worries about losing our Social Security and Medicare.

Jacqueline's avatar

Humans are most stressed when they haven't any power over their situation. Try to find some positive action, even if unrelated, to make the World better and it will relieve much of it.

TheFeralConsultant's avatar

Ugh I’m sorry, hang in there

Don’t let the bastards get you down

Jackie's avatar

It's hard not too!! I'm on disability and need oxygen, without pay and insurance if they take SSDI, ill be screwed. I won't be able to afford to pay for it and then I'll be out of air within 2 days. I guess it won't matter, since I won't be able to afford my house or life.

Maureen Maxwell's avatar

Go outside adn take a walk when you feel overwhelmed as nature heals. No time for that? Water is an immediate calmer so splash cold water on your face and especially the back of your neck! BP meds are healers too with little side effects so take them BUT to avoid higher does, honest water and walks!

Juno's avatar

Ty. Can’t walk I’m disabled. But I’ll try the water and some deep breathing 💙

My friend's avatar

I'm in northern mn area, it be coooollllld!!

MorningStar's avatar

Gonna be 9° in CT tonight. Baby, it's cold outside!

mbglamb's avatar

I swear that I'm going to be drinking a bottle of wine a day pretty soon instead of my one glass a day.

AVee. (Alexia)'s avatar

Well

From my perspective I will climb up something high, open a fabulous couple bottles of champagne and watch it happen.

I mean I can’t afford a fancy underground self sufficient shelter which probably wouldn’t help long term anyway…

Then

After polishing off the Champagne I would likely eat an entire box of Sees chocolates..

MorningStar's avatar

I have 2 bottles in the fridge, no See's....yet! the raspberry ones....

Maria K.'s avatar

Nope.... ran out of screams. I am just.... silently stewing at this point. Seriously... I am a first-generation Ukrainian American. My parents live in Zaporizhzhya, getting bombed every day. I can't get them out because I am not a super-millionaire with a private jet and security detail.

Yesterday, during a virtual team meeting at my job, one of the executives made a joke about going to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine, and I went to pieces. I was sitting there on the call, crying. And then had to go back to doing data analytics. This is my life - I am sure many people's lives are even more bizarre right now.

TheFeralConsultant's avatar

That is horrible! I’m so sorry they made such an insensitive comment. I hope something drastically good happens soon and your parents (and so many others) are safe.

pele talia's avatar

The girlie's are fighting 👏

sherrysherrylea@gmail.com's avatar

Happy the boyz’ are fighting but would prefer it not to be called a ‘girlie fight’. It’s a little misogynistic for a progressive.

Jacqueline's avatar

I made me uncomfortable, too.

Other choices are available, without annoying the Womenfolk....

eve's avatar

came here to say same thing

NDBendy's avatar

I’m not easy to make uncomfortable, but I agree. I’d rather call them something with the term fragile-ego in it. I’m not feeling clever enough to come up with a good one right now, but it’s always better to state a fact than to compare these selfish creatures to an innocent but stereotyped group. I’ve seen some clever names but I can’t think of one at the moment. I can see the humor in calling them something that will make them mad (since they are misogynists), but there must be a better way to do it.

Juno's avatar

Thank you Aaron. If I haven’t said it today, FDT

Amanda Abry's avatar

Thank you for all these updates. I adore you and your work, but referring to the infighting as “looks like the girlies are fighting” is beneath you. Perpetuates neg stereotypes about women.

Aaron Parnas's avatar

I certainly did not mean that at all, and apologies if it offended anyone! I was really saying it in jest and hope folks can see that.

Rebarstehle's avatar

Don’t stress everyone’s jumpy. Also, the tone in your voice “so that happened” lol 😂

Amy Spadano's avatar

Right?! Like any other news day 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ariah Spotofora's avatar

I giggled out loud at my work after I read that line. I am also gen z, that may have something to do with it. The humor is much needed in these dark times. Thanks Aaron :)

Ariah Spotofora's avatar

Also, guys we have bigger fish to fry. Let's not focus on taking down and nit-picking the one guy that is actively trying to help us. Lets focus on the one that is trying to ruin our country!

🎶TRYing To BeHappy's avatar

I guarantee most of the females who read it at least giggled when they read it!

Patricia Glavin's avatar

I'm a woman, I laughed 😅

Amanda Abry's avatar

I know you did but others can run with it! You’re one of the good ones.

Juno's avatar

We get it, Aaron. You’re fine.

Jacqueline's avatar

We see it, and likely we all are not angry. But it is one of those phrases that should be forgotten forever.

Jackie's avatar

I thought it was funny and to the point and fitting!! I guess not time call them 2yr old and then the babies won't know.

Mia's avatar

😆 🤣 I guffawed! I can't wait until DT is done with Elonia....that's going to be a fun fight to see.

Rhiannon's avatar

I loved it! Loved your humor and little quips today! We need it. Let’s be honest, women and girls can get a little “wordy”. If the shoe fits, wear it! When MTG and Jasmine start boxing, we can say they were brawling like dudes! Keep up the humor, please!

Stephanie Szewczyk's avatar

I literally laughed out loud! and I so needed that! so Thank you! Keep up your amazing work!

HumanKind1998's avatar

I didn’t take it that way at al, in fact, I missed it. We trust you, your character and know better.

Lynn Capani-Czebiniak's avatar

I said the same thing! Love Aaron but didn’t like that comment!

Stephanie Szewczyk's avatar

I am the biggest feminist and I literally laughed out loud after all the crazy news he just rattled off! Keep being amazing Aaron!

T J's avatar

Thank you - I made a similar comment.

I am a woman born in 1955. I am fully aware of our prior struggles, and those we that we face now. There is no greater rage than that I am feeling now with our unimaginable state of affairs. Having identified my stance, I’d agree that, in general, “girlie” can be taken as an insult to women, but I do not believe that was Aaron’s intention. I believe that he meant it as a sarcastic dig using their own verbiage against them. If you listen carefully, everything is not an insult. Consider the source.

Jackie's avatar

If Trump said it then I would take it as an insult. Coming from Aaron, it was an adjective to get the point across with a visual. Today's world is damn soft since we all know he didn't mean it as a dig towards anyone. To girls fighting on the playground, picture it.

Soi Natasha's avatar

oh god not the fish triggering the ancient folklore 😭😭😭

Nora's avatar

Even Encylopedia Brittanica is not changing it to the Gulf of Mexico. Lol.

Christina Salazar's avatar

I grateful for truth you're doing an amazing job and I really appreciate it.

Fed Up With Fraud's avatar

It’s The Gulf of Mexico. 🇲🇽

Nothing could be a clearer indication that trump is a fragile narcissist who is becoming increasingly unstable and insecure.

Seed Beads (she/they)'s avatar

I have a question about all these resignations - are they resigning because the only other option would be to comply with the Trump admin? Just trying to wrap my head around it and can’t help but wonder what nightmare people will be ushered in as replacements.

Alice K.'s avatar

Agree wouldn’t it be better to stay and fight, force them to fire you, then sue? If they cared about people leaving, it might be a good plan, but they couldn’t care less . They don’t value competence or experience. They’ll just be able to stick in their incompetent white male loyalist that much sooner.

Ariah Spotofora's avatar

This! I support anyone who wanted to resign because the President and what he's asking may no longer align with their values.... Butttttttt, now they will just be replaced with someone with no integrity that aligns with his values... A loose loose.

T J's avatar

Please don't demean women by saying "the girlies are fighting" when describing two dumb guys going after each other. I love your content, so I know you didn't mean to belittle women but this type of comment does. Thank you for wlyour consideration in changing that

Resa Hoeller's avatar

Can you use another word besides "girlies" to describe the Bannon v Musk feud? It's demeaning to girls and women.

T J's avatar

Agree - thank you for calling this out. I made a similar comment.

Diane's avatar

The "girlies?" Please don't insult women.

britt's avatar

Thankful for your work 🫶🏼

Ez P's avatar

Don’t need a fish to tell me we are living through doomsday times

Kiss Lola J's avatar

You can't make this shit up, "Don't look up?" or down, across, upside down, WTH?!

Lynn Capani-Czebiniak's avatar

I like the way you do a synopsis of the days happenings; however, today I take exception to you saying “the girlies” in regard to the boys fighting. Please don’t compare those bozos with females. Thank you!
