My Political Awakening

Let’s take on this politics in 2024 together

My name is Aaron Parnas, and this is the story of my political awakening. I’ve thought a long time about how to relaunch my Substack, and with the election season in full swing, I feel now is the right time to bring a different and necessary voice to the conversation–a Gen Z voice who was once a Republican and switched. 

Before we jump into it, I wanted to take a minute and tell you a bit about myself. I was born and raised in South Florida in a Republican family. If you recognize my last name, it’s probably because my father, Lev Parnas, was a potential witness in the first impeachment of Donald Trump. (And, yes, Rudy Giuliani is my little brother’s god-father). Those were crazy times, and I have some exclusive stories to share–like how I ended up listening to a phone call with Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro (more to come on this). 

Growing up in a Republican household, in the 2010s, I knew nothing other than Trump and Republican politics. It’s what led me to register as a Republican when I first had the chance. but, I quickly realized being a Republican did not comport with my values. 

When I turned 18, I graduated college. I know it may not seem common (and it isn’t), but I was able to skip four years of high school and skip right to college at Florida Atlantic University. After graduating, I went to law school at the George Washington University Law School where I graduated as one of the youngest lawyers in the country, at the bright eyed and bushy tailed age of 21. 

In law school was when I underwent my political awakening. It was the first time I lived alone and left my house, and as a result, it was then when I realized all along, I was a Democrat. 

Now, four years later, I’m ready to share my story and my view. 

This Substack is going to have a little bit of everything. We’re going to talk about the news, I’m going to give you the Gen Z view on hot topics, and, I’ll even throw in some fun stories from Trump-world (including maybe even a Rudy Giuliani butt dial).  

Here’s what you should expect–every Monday you will get a long form post breaking down the Gen Z view of what’s to come that week, and every Thursday, I’m going to share some stories from MAGA world that may scare you or make you laugh, but will show you why we need to vote blue this November. 

And, with less than 40 days until Election Day, I am going to tell you why it is so important that we come together, and elect Kamala Harris the next President of the United States.
