Here is a bullet point list of all the stories I covered today:

  • Legal experts are sounding the alarm over the treatment of undocumented migrants who are sent to Guantanamo Bay. There is significant uncertainty over whether the Trump Administration is granting these migrants sufficient access to counsel and due process. In addition, there is concern that the treatment of the migrants at the facility is below acceptable standards.

  • A federal judge in New Mexico blocked the transfer of three undocumented Venezuelan migrants to Guantanamo Bay over concerns of the lack of legal counsel and process they would receive at the island prison facility.

  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as come to a complete halt this morning with the agency shuttering its doors and ceasing operations.

  • Donald Trump spent the evening railing against Taylor Swift on Truth Social, while also announcing that the United States will not be printing any new pennies given the cost associated with them.

  • The Trump Administration has officially renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in government databases with Donald Trump signing a proclamation making February 9th “Gulf of America Day.”

Today is going to be an extremely busy news day. On a personal note, I am so grateful for all of you and the support that you have shown me. See you this evening for another update.
