Thank you for being there and giving us a clear eyed viewpoint! It’s reassuring the distinct difference between real Americans and our ridiculous government is recognized by Panamanian people.

You are providing a crucial service at this time in history, mainly because you are not sensationalizing, rather present fact based commentary and d/t the meager History that is taught in schools now you are giving the necessary background information needed to form our own opinions. Thank you for doing thi.s

That's what I love about Aaron's channel. No click-bait or exaggerations, just straight facts.

Great piece! There are a LOT of Americans that feel the same as the Panamanians ... we love most American people and we also despise the current administration + their followers.

"We love most American people and we also despise the current administration + their followers." This claim dies by suicide. "Most Americans" voted for the current administration and support its policies. So, do you love them or despise them? You can't do both.

As should be Panama Canal belongs to the Panamanians

I love my Panama. I spent my high school years there. Beautiful country with beautiful people.

Thank you for going right to the source and keeping us informed.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have a reservation in May to travel to Panama and begin a relocation process, and, as a US citizen, was unsure if I would be welcomed, given the horrific destruction and vile emails the Felon is spitting out almost daily. I read a daily Panama English newspaper and know there is unrest in the country re the laws enacted by the new administration there, and the potential reopening of a copper mine. I don't want to leave one country warring within only to land in another also heading for internal strife. Uncertain how to proceed.

Don’t burn all your bridges. Many return after a few years. Little stuff can wear you down eventually. We love it here part time. People here are real treasure.

Chris Fitzgerald's avatar

Hi, Could you elaborate? Is it the people THERE who are a real treasure or the US folks? I'm very concerned about getting back into the US from a visit scheduled for the end of May to mid June. Also, I see that many homes have bars on the windows, which suggests that it is not a safe country. As a single senior woman, that would be a worry if so. I am also worried about what this criminal admin. has up its sleeve, especially now that Blackrock has infiltrated. So nervous; any info you care to share about what things you found too wearing would be much appreciated. Thank you so much! Chris

You are surely in a fix! I don't have your answer, but wanted to wish you well! 🍀

Thank you, Patricia. It is a quandary, for sure. Love the shamrock and would rather be heading for Ireland; just can't make it work.

I see nothing that we did not know, but you write as if you were a Panamanian not as an independent journalist. You are obviously bias against the current president and cannot view any argument that contradicts it. Panama did not build the canal, you gloss over that. Of course, it is a driver of the Panamanian economy. They would not have had it except for the U.S. of course they wanted control over a money source they wanted for free. Carter was not known as the best at negotiating international treaties, but neither were Obama and Biden. The Panamanian government pretended that the U.S. had no special interest in the canal and it overcharged and began doing business with China. It was either naive or corrupt or both. A new treaty will be agreed to in the near future that confirms the special relationship between Panama and the U.S. They did not get the canal for free no matter the Carter treaty. If you are an “independent” journalist then you should show it, so far you look too much like more of the same, but I will continue following you.

Well said . Socialists need to be reminded of the actual facts, and stop making emotional propagandist statements

sophy hurtubise's avatar

Yet the canal was originally started by the French… and you gloss over that…

Raymond Willis's avatar

Now that is one weak argument having nothing to do with what we are talking about. They left a few shovels in the sand on the Caribbean along with a pile of wine bottles. (Sarcasm, if you can’t figure it out.). And no, I love France and my times there.

The only reason he wants Panama is because they banned the Russians. Putin is behind the whole load of baloney on this one. Panama barred Russian ships at the request of Congress https://www.gao.gov/products/t-nsiad-89-44#:~:text=Pursuant%20to%20a%20congressional%20request,freezing%20of%20Panamanian%20assets%20in

Everything Donald Trump touches dies. Should he touch the Panama Canal, it’ll be the end of their economy

Dr Jim Kinnebrew's avatar

Sure. That's why he is a pauper and leader of the free world. Such a loser!

Thank you for showing the US what all Panamanians are saying - the Canal is being managed by the Panamanians Government!

J. Sena's avatar

Thank you for going to Panama to show us the canal and how the Panama's depends on it.

Sancho Panza's avatar

Side issue but wasn’t Panama part of Colombia until the U.S. backed a secession to build a canal in 1903? Not that the U.S. ever did anything like that anywhere in the world.

Rajeev R. Bhattacharya's avatar

Exactly! There is no such thing as a Panamanian people or Panamanian national identity, despite how White progressives might want to delude themselves.

Sancho Panza's avatar

The history of “south of the border” is wall to wall self interest meddling.

Janice Darling's avatar

I believe I need to go look this up now!

Terry's avatar

Yes, and something about the French starting it while Panama was under Columbian control. I wish I knew more about history...I was never good in this subject.

Abbie's avatar

Hard to be "good" in a subject that is rewritten to suit the needs of those seeking to gain/remain in power.

Just look at this article in the Oklahoma Voice for an example:

https://oklahomavoice.com/2025/03/13/proposed-oklahoma-social-studies-standards-suggest-discrepancies-in-2020-election/

Lawmakers are pushing to teach high school students that there were "discrepancies" in the 2020 election in Oklahoma.
