I am as well. I drove by my local Target Friday and it did seem to have fewer cars in the lot. Conversely, Dick's is up front with announcing their commitment to DEI!
I just wanted to say thank you Aaron! You’ve made a HUGE difference in my participation and knowledge about the daily news. Before finding you I would ready articles here and there but now I keep up with you morning and night, even updates throughout the day. You have brought awareness to many people around me as well and I’m sure I speak for many when I say thank you! Keep up the great work! We’re depending on you!
When I read the words "payroll cuts" all I hear is "The execs and investors are fine, but the hourly team members that probably make $15/hr to$16/hr are now struggling to buy groceries for themselves and their families.
What I haven't been seeing is advertised community support for the employees that will feel the financial blows immediately, even though it takes months for investors to feel the difference.
Aspen, I woke up for a bit. I read the article and throughout I was feeling more deeply for the employees on the floor and the cashiers, and all sorts. I am happy that these boycotts are working but I’m also feeling very upset referring to the regular people like me.
I cannot say I am happy about the layoffs that may occur but I cannot say I was happy about it all. I have been boycotting Target for about 18 years. At that time I think it was about the treatment of the employees. But what I’m trying to say is the longer I didn’t go it, seems I didn’t miss shopping there.
Idk my point except I should be asleep and I’m rambling but I do hope the employees will be okay. And also places like Target and Starbucks I don’t miss at all.
I don't think there's anything wrong with being mindful of where you shop. And I agree that major companies still have work to do. But, with all the job cuts happening at the federal level, and then the payroll cuts that will be happening in retail, means tens if not hundreds of thousands of jobs lost, with no alternative readily available.
That's what scares me. I think it's right to demand change. But I am incredibly concerned about what happens to our working class people when we only make it about a handful ceo's and execs, and forget that thousands of everyday normal people are impacted in very serious ways.
My mom had to go back to work in her late 70s, and Target has been wonderful to her. She was offered benefits, accommodations, etc. In fact, she was the only seasonal employee hired on permanently the year she started working there. She’s 82yo now, still able-bodied, and needs her job. But with the boycotts, the store has no other alternative than to cut hours. Not everyone can go work at Costco or a small business if they become unemployed. I’m disabled and can only work part-time. The local woman-owned shop where I work has had to cut hours too. I’m afraid people will suffer more than they are already, especially as the economy weakens.
I’m so sorry. My sister is 76 and she’s a yoga instructor, amongst other things, and nobody will hire her. She’s sharp and witty also perfectly capable of working. She had applied to so many places and she got upset and hasn’t even been filing apps.
Agreed … it’s tough out there. My job was essentially eliminated due to decreasing demand; eight months later I still haven’t found work. I fear these tactics will make it worse for low wage workers, not the execs who made the decisions and should feel the impact.
I worry about that, too. During the bus boycott it took a coordinated effort by the community to hold each other up and help each other out. When we do things like this today, we have to be mindful of the backlash and seek out ways to support those that are caught in the middle.
I am participating in the boycott and will continue. I am truly disappointed and disgusted by Target’s actions on DEI. It used to be my favorite place to shop. That ended when they ended DEI.
I’ve been randomly checking parking lots of boycotts big box stores. My town Target used to be packed all the time. Now the parking lot is consistently 90% empty. It’s a beautiful thing to see 🤗
Have not step foot into a Target since they rolled back their DEIA inititives, they are no longer getting a dime of my money. Have made more of an effort to become more responsible with my purchases and spending.
Amazon, Walmart, Target, out. Before I shop, I look up how a company lobbys and which party they make the most contributions to. Dollar General? Out. Dollar Tree? In. Family Dollar? In. Local garage sales? In. I also use FB marketplace, but I use an friend's account who doesn't want to cut off news from family and friends. I left insta, fb, and threads in January.
I have not been a Target shopper, so I am participating in that boycott. I haven’t bought anything at Amazon in months. It’s hard to find stuff locally for me because there aren’t many choices where I live… I do what I can to support local businesses.
Yes. My family is participating in the Target and the Amazon boycott. Glad it’s having an effect.
Mine, too! It’s felt good to quit them both.
Here, too. Amazing what you can realize is a waste of time and money, thanks to the boycotts. Keep it up, good people!

Same here. Costco all the way!
Same! Saving so much money 😅

My thoughts exactly. I'm stymied about how to help the employees and welcome ideas.

I hope everyone doesn’t suffer.

Thank you for the information.

I haven’t been to target since they took pride stuff off shelves and have no plans to ever go back. Used clothes stores is where it’s at!

Boycotting and shopping at Costco next door
Did same today. Drove right by Bezos-owned Whole Foods and got my milk at Costco.
It’s already working they know they are losing money
I spent $7000 there last year and have yet to step foot in one since they announced their policy on DEI.
Have not step foot into a Target since they rolled back their DEIA inititives, they are no longer getting a dime of my money. Have made more of an effort to become more responsible with my purchases and spending.
haven’t shopped there since and they’re pushing their app coupons/deals like crazy

While I feel bad for the hourly employees, I am still boycotting Target and Amazon.
Target FAFO!!!! 💙💙💙
I am not shopping there or Amazon!!
Still participating in the boycott!
