We are allowing people to adopt this term, “DEI,” without pushing back hard against the implication that the people DEI policies were designed to help and protect are inherently deficient or incapable. This needs to stop. The other side is sowing contempt for “DEI hires” bc people are haphazardly adopting that reference without challenging the implication intended by the reference. The entire point of DEI programs was to discourage racist, sexist, misogynist, ableist exclusion of perfectly capable workers bc it was clear that people from those categories WERE being discriminatorily, unfairly and illegally excluded.
Yep, exactly this. In the US, DEI is tossed around to suggest unqualified and unmerited, rather than being policy to address systemic and institutionalized exclusion based on irrelevant criteria.
Bonus fact: diverse workplaces are more profitable.
I think it's similar to the flipping of the meaning of "woke" to be something negative when it originally meant becoming conscious of the systemic injustices against black and brown people.

It is, though shouldn’t be, astonishing to me how little common grace and compassion thus President has for the people of this country. From no consolation to the families who are reeling from the aviation tragedy, to the blitzkrieg round up of thousands of people whom he intends to send to f—ing Guantanamo (creating a 30,000 person concentration camp at the snap of his fingers), to the attempted overnight freezing of Federal Aid to countless programs creating bitter hardship for both those who manage this vital aid and those who receive it, to the cavalier immediate firing of so many government workers who given their all to the professional execution of their duties and are discarded like so many used paper towels. He treats the country like so many of his failed businesses—running it into the ground to avoid taking true responsibility for good and fair governance.

Hi Raegan. If you look at his video and lightly tap your mouse around the lower right hand edge of it, you'll see a button that looks like a piece of paper. That piece of paper is the Transcript. At least on my computer -- I'm on Windows, not a Mac, but I assume it's the same. I hope that helps.
Hi Rachel. It's a little harder on the mobile, but if you click on the video (mobile) first, see the speaker and click on that to turn it off. Then you should see the "CC" in a box to the left of it and that is for Closed Captions. I think that's the best you can do on the mobile. So, instead of listening to him, you will read what he is saying, while he's saying it. So, not a transcription, but something you can read without others listening. I hope that helps. It seems too many straight white men are afraid of DEI.
Because they’re basically the only ones who don’t fall under this label.
Women, POC, LGBTQ, and anyone else who is not a straight, white male, if qualified… Could be a diversity, equity, inclusion candidate.
