It's not over until the fat Orange Clown sings. The last stage of grief and loss is apathy—and if we the people allow ourselves to devolve to that level of complacency…that’s when we’re doomed. I guarantee that all of us feel beaten down and don't want to bother to get back up. However, it's ok to carry those feelings while we keep up the fight.

May I suggest that you don’t view “tolerance” as defeat. What’s happening is undoubtedly overwhelming because it’s been designed to create that effect. But we can’t allow Trump to win with his psychological warfare as every other wanna be dictator has done throughout history. So it's OK to hate what’s happening to our country. It's also ok to feel sick and tired of it. We’re strong enough to carry those feelings with us as long as we don’t give up the fight. 🙏❤️

Unfortunately that’s what Trump and his goons want. They want us to become violent so he can place our military everywhere and declare martial law. Then there will be no elections. Period.

Yet we must remain non-violent. Ghandi and MLK showed us non-violent, creative protest works. We can be passive-aggressive-- such as boycotting Amazon and other large Maga donors. We need to increase our size on the streets. Encourage your friends and coworkers to join. Let's double the next national protest from 5 million to 10 million. Send money, if you can, to help the efforts to document civil rights abuses by ICE or support a leader in getting their message out.

My late veteran husband would be devastated with how this country is being destroyed. Are you saying you'll tolerate that? There have never NOT been elections, even during the civil war and both world wars. States run elections, NOT the federal government. The constitution gives congress the power to regulate federal congressional elections, but not to cancel them. Any attempt to stop the midterms would instantly end the legitimacy of congress or Trump.

So the Republicans will do as they have done for decades: gerrymandering plus every means of voter disenfranchisement and voter suppression they can come up with. They've been quite busy with that, and it probably got Trump elected.

If congress or Trump tries to stop the midterms there will be civil war. That's not a threat, but a move like that would make the millions who turned out for No Kings day look like a slow day at a you-pick farm in the off-season.

Why, when Trump and the Republicans are 100% responsible for ALL the horrible stuff that's going on in this country, do people keep attacking the Democrats, when it's largely the people's fault for not electing enough Democrats to stop the GOP?

Article I, Section1, Clause 5: The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment. Clause 6: The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.

House Speaker Mike Johnson will not allow articles of impeachment for ANY Republican currently in office to get a vote on the floor. And even if he allowed it, the corrupt Republicans would hold sham hearings and then vote it down. And even if a miracle happened and someone DID get impeached, the senate, presided over by the execrable JD Vance, would hold a sham trial and the defendant would not be found guilty.

The Supreme Court has been a major disappointment, but I would like to see people refer to the maga majority instead of painting all the justices with the same brush. I’m 36 going back to school and got denied funding. I even applied for an adult going back to school grant NYS approved for that but it won’t cover costs…. If you have good credit or in a good financial position you or your parents will get approved for financial aid. I have to get a personal loan and add another $500 a month plus new car payment (well new to me) plus $1,000 in rent alone …. If I don’t work overtime hours I only make $2,800….$800 left over for gas, food, internet, cellphone, savings. So I have to work 60 hours a week plus school and bonus im disabled, have learning disabilities Crohn’s disease with an ostomy bag rheumatoid arthritis 3 herniated discs in my back, endometriosis, thyroid cancer and I think that’s about it.

It is like one of the people said when you are in poverty it is hard to get ahead and damn near impossible unless you have the support and means to do so. I don’t have parents and my grandparents are dead. This is not fear mongering, this is the truth, my truth.

Fear mongering is republicans saying that immigrants are taking our jobs, fear mongering is saying people making less than you are taking your money and they don’t deserve opportunities to get ahead.

Cause thing is poverty is generational, it is passed on. Even if you witness someone come up from being homeless they will say they are lucky. The chances of someone getting ahead and changing their stripes on their own with no government or family support is like winning the lottery. The government system is rigged to keep the poor poorer and rich richer.

Every one of us in this thread, on this app, in this country has a better chance of losing everything and becoming homeless than becoming Jeff Bezos. This is not fear mongering this is actually happening to people and you are invalidating someone’s truth. Maybe you don’t know someone but there are 340 million people in this country. You saying you don’t know anyone is like saying “well I don’t know anyone who died from Covid so forcing us to get a shot and wear a mask is fear mongering”,even though roughly 1.2 million people died in the United States alone and 146 million suspected cases, during the pandemic.

Stop misusing fear mongering please…. People’s truths are not fear mongering.

I was denied sufficient aid at first this year too. In the end I had to play a cat and mouse game with the Financial Aid Special Circumstances department at my state owned college for 3 months. This includes sending over 50 pages of information by mail, fax and email. Each time their was a tiny obscure detail not quite right for them that needed to be different that I had to correct.

They denied me the UT Texas tuition free program because by the time they finally got their ducks in a row it was past the deadline, even though last year I made so little I was 75% below the 100,000 yearly income cut off for the program. I was however able to get enough in grants and loans to pay for the next 2 semesters, maybe more if I stretch it and work part time while fitting in as many classes as possible (18 credits) to avoid extra semester fees.

Im hoping between having to move back home with my parents at 35, working part time, and saving the unused extra money each semester I can at least make it through my bachelors. I will pay back whatever I don’t use if any is left when Im done. Hopefully I will finish with my masters, because that’s where Id be able to do the job I set out to train for, and it has slightly better pay. I need to make it another 3 years though somehow.

What also helped was working full-time for half a year before becoming a full-time student at a local community college and switching to part-time work. Fortunately I didn’t make as much 2 years before I did that which allowed me to live a frugal but covered life in my cramped elderly parents’ house where Im also a live-in care giver. Its not ideal, and comes with many mental, emotional and relational challenges, but I was lucky in being able to do so. I know many who would not be able to. I don’t even know how well this plan would work now with all the governmental changes a year later.

I am hoping with the degree I get in Social Work that I can help address many of the issues facing society today so the many hurts, trauma and broken pieces being created can be healed.
