POTUS is toying with very powerful nations and nothing good will come of it. I foresee death and destruction for America if he continues on this path. These countries have been at war for decades and think little to nothing of our country, for good reason. It’s very unhinged and unrealistic to wake up one day and arbitrarily decide to become a dictator and be able to compete with countries under this type of regime because it’s something that has taken years to establish. His little temper tantrums will do nothing in this political climate except cause unnecessarily war.
I totally agree with you -if his intentions are to become a dictator it’s going to backfire on him. If there ever was a reason to impeach this man, it would be now. The reason why so many companies went to India and China for their production is because we were charging them too much here in labor and taxes. If his idea is to bring back American manufacturers to the United States, it’s having the opposite effect. This is what happens when you have a president who was bankrupt at least six times for running million dollar companies and now we’ve given him a trillion dollar company to run. The people who voted for him are simply dumb.
It’s more complicated. We do not have the infrastructure to facilitate and/or support manufacturing needed to support and/or create a 100% U.S. made economy. It takes time, materials and money to build factories, acquire equipment and technology for each of the factories needed. The tariffs implemented by POTUS prohibit anything coming to fruition because it is cost prohibitive to pay 100% more in tariffs for building and technology supplies. These additional costs alone will prevent factories from being built. Tanking the stock market is essentially throwing any surplus company funds in the garbage. Tariffs are not meant to be utilized in situations where a country doesn’t have the infrastructure to create its own supply and demand.
I think POTUS is attempting to create a situation where the government can take control of corporations, much like China and North Korea. Under those circumstances, he would have complete control over what, when and how things are manufactured. It would also give complete financial control to POTUS for the ENTIRE economy. We would all become slaves of servitude.
Of course it’s a more complicated situation than that of course anybody who understands politics and global commerce understands that. However, the average consumer, the average person who goes to work every single day to a 9 to 5 is not thinking about that right now. They are thinking about how are they going to be able to take care of their family when they are already strained by the cost of food and living. What I’m saying is there’s a way to do it and the way he’s going about doing it is costing us more than it should immediately.
IPhones will still be made in China and India. Looks like they are ramping up production in India. IPhones have been manufactured in India for a few years. You can tell where your AirPods, accessories and IPhone were manufactured by looking at the first two letters before the slash. China has trade relationships all over the world.

As they should, these people are in business to make money not to be taxed because the president seems to have some pissing match with other countries. If I were Apple I would do the same thing, too. It’s not affecting just the bigger corporations. It’s affecting the smaller ones as well. I got notice that my business is going to be affected by the tariffs. Like I said in my previous post, there was a way to handle this. We could’ve definitely imposed tariffs on countries that he felt we’re not being fair, but it is the way that he did it that I have a problem with.
