We are living in a facist state now. It is official.

I’ve been saying I’m not sure peaceful protests are going to succeed with these fascists. When we can’t even get 3.5% of the population out to peacefully protest, I think violence, thought I hate to say it, will be the only option left. And if we can’t get people out to protest, does anyone think they’re going to go out and physically fight? MAGATS and the rest of America who are 100% checked out will leave us here to rot in this fascist hellscape for decades.

Can't say it hasn't crossed my mind several times. But to what end? Good people will get hurt - mothers, fathers, children... everyone loses. We have to resist and persist. We have to keep working and bring people on board. I can't allow myself to go down that dark path.

Well don't discount us 80 year olds standing on a street corner every Friday holding signs. We did this in the 60s and by God we will do it until we can't push a walker any more.

Oh I 100% agree. And it’s what MAGATS want. I DO NOT WANT THIS. I am not advocating for it. It is a very down statement coming from someone who is personally suffering as well as, like all of us, exhausted. I’ve been protesting and will continue to do so. I never mean to bring anyone down and I apologize if I did that. You have COMPASSION and didn’t attack me. You’ve given me light and renewed hope and I appreciate this. Thank you for being kind. I’ll absolutely keep hope alive for a peaceful change into a better America. Raissa could learn from you.

PEACEFUL PROTESTS work only if 3.5% of the overall population show up. Stating that it does not work is counterproductive. Instead educate yourself and others on the 3.5% SOLUTION and recruit heavily. Be careful what you post, please. You are wrong. It works but people have to show up in great numbers; specifically, 3.5% or 10 million across the country. 4/5 brought out 5 million. Every one of us needs to show up, of course, and we will but we need to recruit heavily with the urgency as if the lives of our children depended upon it. Look to the Ukrainians. They unite and show up and die. And none of them stand back and say, "It's not working." They do or die!!

I am educated. You know what? I’m having a dark day. I DO NOT WANT violence. I want us to keep pushing for that 3.5% to show up. It was a passing thought. I am highly educated and don’t appreciate you assuming I’m not. I’m also human. You know nothing about me or my life. We are on the same side. Do not lecture me like a 5 year old. It’s a bad day personally. I might feel hopeless today. I bet even every Ukrainian has at least a few down hours. I’ll never stop working to peacefully change things. You know what you could learn? Compassion. Questioning nicely why I would write this, then simply stating facts without a personal attack. It was an observation on the apathy I see around ME. You are being arrogant and condescending. We all get scared. I would never attack anyone on this site for that. Remind me we can do this - keep hope alive for each other during our worst hours without patronizing me or anyone. Have a nice day. And I do mean that.

When the black community decides to join in mass numbers, which we have not decided yet, then these protest will take on a whole new dynamic. We know how to do this, we have been doing it for decades, successfully. However, we wanted America, especially white America, to really see what type of fascist racist dictator trump is without the distraction of our community! Also, we came out in force to stop this mad man, but this country was still too caught up on race and gender! We for now are focusing on our communities with community-based work and local organizing efforts. Also, a growing emphasis on economic empowerment initiatives, supporting Black-owned businesses, and leveraging digital platforms for organizing and advocacy. Also, we know when we have large scale protest there is definitely a targeting by the government on our community. trump and musk have been trying to lure us out with the dismantling of black history in our government buildings and agencies, but we have not taken the bait and I think they have given up for now. But we will know when to come out. Be ready for us!!

I don’t understand why I don’t hear of any action towards a general strike.

The transfer of wealth and now, just normal human rights, to only the upper class is problem here.

The cost of crimes against humanity and the environment is their goal here.

Even if all the Republicans disappeared right now I honestly don’t believe America would be better off. The billionaires behind them would just pay more grifters to action their goals.

People need to have a community to rely on in order to strike and I get that it seems like an insurmountable task.

There were already too many Americans living paycheck to paycheck before the deportations and gulags.

People will need food and shelter to strike. May is just a few days away and only approximately 300k out of 11 million people have signed up.

Please someone tell me it’s happening…there’s too many horrors and not enough of anything else. I want to see organizers on Aaron Parnas every day until the strike happens.

Yes, everybody wants it to be peaceful and wants to think peaceful will work. Mark my words: this is not going to stay peaceful. And, in my opinion, nothing will change until it is not peaceful. In fact, the kind of cleansing we need probably means extensive non-peacefulness will be required. Sad. Just watch. I believe we haven’t seen anything yet, and I expect things to become much much darker.

My friends are TOTALLY checked out and boy are they going to be in for a rude surprise. I don’t believe Trump is that stupid. He knows tariffs are taxes on us. He started a trade war on purpose. Putin is telling him, or someone is, the exact steps to cripple us. The ships aren't coming in. The truck drivers won’t be hauling a ton of things we import. Make food scarce and people will well…it won’t be good. I have no doubt WE can peacefully protest but some agitator will create a false flag event and Trump is looking for ANY reason to send the military out on the streets - although not sure how 2 million military are going to control 340 million people. Anyway. I have such nutty thoughts - like do we hide in our basement? Do I go out in the streets and fight? I can’t leave my mom. It just breaks my heart.

You said it, I didn't (this time), though I have been saying this for a while. The reason I do not believe it is going to work, even if we *exceed* 3.5%, is that we are no longer living in a democracy, these people are not even PRETENDING to honor the constitution, or any part of democratic governance at all. So as I see it, the only way peaceful resistance has any prayer of working at all, is if it has some teeth to go along with it, that is, if it's maybe accompanied by a general strike. Making the stock tickers stop ticking wouldl make them "notice", because they won't have a choice, but peaceful protests are gonna have to at least cause some inconvenience.

As it stands now, the press are barely even covering the protests, I don't "want" it either, only a fool would, but this is simply the reality. This is the view from 50,000 feet, I get a bunch of grief about speaking the reality, and have done for a decade now, since I pointed to trump and said, "hmmm, looks like that guy is channeling Hitler" in 20 freaking 16, and YET, here we are. Don't shoot the messenger just cause they're looking at the larger picture and speaking the truth nobody wants to hear.

It simply, genuinely looks to be the case that a peaceful resistance is unlikely to fix this. I'm not advocating for violence, shit, I wouldn't even know wtf to do. Though I AM truly hoping there is SOMEONE within some branch of the armed services who IS at least thinking about what to do "just in case", cause I agree with you, and it's probably coming at some point, whether we want it to or not.

And it can be overthrown. Anyone interested in how? Google the 3.5% SOLUTION and then recruit, recruit, recruit scores of others to join you at a protest on MAY DAY 5/1. We need to show up and recruit enough of those who would have stayed home to rise to the count of 10 million which is 3.5% and at that number the pressure we bear down on Trump's Regime will "break pipes" bring it down, buckling at the knees. Learn and educate. It is up to us who show up to get everyone else to show up. 4/5 attracted 5 million. We need to double it on 5/1, or just throw up our hands and surrender. There is little time.

While I agree with your sentiment that peace should always be the first option, it’s unacceptable of you to completely shut down a discussion about the alternative. I am also highly educated, so don’t come at me and tell me to “educate myself.” The issue is, educating others completely relies on their part participation. I have already lost multiple friends in these past weeks of Trumps presidency because I was trying to educate my friends and they told me I was being “over dramatic and paranoid.” (And one of my degrees is psychology, so yes, I came at them with the correct approach. They just wouldn’t open their eyes) Not only that, obviously fascist DO NOT CARE about peaceful protests. These protests are an attempt to motivate the rest of the government to do something. But, what if 3.5% doesn’t work? Do we just hope 4% works? 5%? 10%? What if none of those work? To shut down an intellectual, & hypothetical discussion on the alternative response is irresponsible. We need to have these talks. We obviously aren’t wishing to act on these ideas right way, but we all need to come to an agreement on when “enough is enough”

I get what you’re saying. I agree. If we give trump his crisis in the streets he will take control fully under martial law. Every one of these egregious ICE kidnappings is to push. The clear cut of timber. The removal of the protections, of the entire system. In the meantime he pushes the Russian plot to make our society normalize this. It is the Russian intelligence protocol.

These constant battles to reverse his EOs is like giving us 2 minutes of hate in 1984.

Unless and until the US legislature goes after him for treason - and yes we are at war- there is FUCK ALL to stop him. We are already living like a conquered people. Not emancipated humans protected by the Constitution.

One chunk in the wall is Grassley speaking now for impeachment. BFD. Another shit show. Previous attempts only more firmly embedded him in his base and weaponized them.

This discussion needs to bear in mind this orange fuck does not act on his own: the FSV and GRU are pulling the strings, doing the orchestrating, and have already put their agents, assets, snd friendly useful idiots in the positions that make the coup government.

Research their backgrounds.

The pentagon has fallen in behind the control of private companies. Military industrial complex third party suppliers.

The goal of this Russian mafia global take over is to PRIVATIZE. Using KGB brainwashing protocols and where necessary they kompromat.

If this Congress does not come out of his pay then no matter what we do nothing will change.

Protests are changing for now certain things but it’s a game of chicken. We need to amp up but no one knows where.

The only people who can reverse this are the brainwashed maggites who have worked for I’m in every area of their lives. I believe that is the only pressure we can apply. The cult mindset must be changed. The one thing the KGB worked for was to get the victim so full of their lies and misdirections that they believed their narrative - that a dictatorship is the only protection- and no amount of fact would change their minds.

America entered that zone long before the orange traitor. He is the one moving the west toward Putin and really Xi and North Korea’s fuck. They are paying for this. This cos play of statesmanship. What a long con. It’s all the break up nato. The tariffs are to strengthen China economy.

You are seeing exactly WHAT IS. I strongly suggest you look to your back up plan and make it ready. Keep your phone in a Faraday bag. Get your passport good to go. Get your pets tge passports they need. It will take TIME. This is not America. It is Georgia at best. The country. Protest and call your representatives but kniw this isn’t 1970.

Unless the Congress arrests him and his fucking Russian coconspirators, there is ZERO sign we are out of danger. Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan are all shifting their foreign policies to accommodate the Trump US as a real threat. People will be shooting at us one day. That’s a real scenario.

How do we get the rest of America to protest our congress into arresting Trump et al? There are thousands of these people in the US working knowingly and unknowingly to make Putin and Xi dreams come true. How do we wake them?

In my opinion this is where we should start.

Peace and love to all who read this. I wish you well.

And take notice Trump is folding on all his demands. Nations and institutions are standing up to him and he backs down. He just backed down on his previous stand on student visas. He is a weak, small, scared old man and 100 percent cowardly surrounded (which was a fatal error on his part) by incompetents similarly weak and apparently most of them addicted to one thing or another. We are not alone within the country, and we are not alone outside our country where in other nations the people of those countries offer praise, admiration for our courage and great support, not for the Regime of Trump. but for "we the people" of this great nation.

Smoke and mirrors. Threats and bullying. But if you keep a ledger each time the response is "No." Trump retreats, lies to us about what we already know is happening which is he is being rebuffed across the globe, and reverses his stand. He is a small and cowardly man whose undoing will be out of pure narcissism and need for control that led him to choose to surround himself with the dregs of humanity a band of incompetents with personal history of failure much like himself.

This is going to be so easy if we just stand shoulder to shoulder in GREAT numbers protesting peacefully. We got you -- don't be afraid. Fear is in all of us but the way to handle fear FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL in all cases, is to walk past it and find courage. Find all of us and stand together. But more than that we have little time. So, we the enlightened and informed as to the 3.5% SOLUTION effectiveness need to recruit, recruit, recruit. Read up on the 3.5% SOLUTION and then impart the hope learning about its promise will hold to those you are recruiting to protest. And be forewarned and do no harm with your words of defeat. We are all tired and stress, but we must hold up for we are the leaders; those of us here. It is up to us.

Remember it is well known that when entering a battle, the soldiers cannot afford to grouse and speak as if they will lose the battle for that is certain death. We need to unite and believe in the power we hold to win when we join in great numbers protesting peacefully. Just show up!

When we do in great numbers the pressure that break pipes will rise and what a glorious thing to be there amongst those who join to create that power; a power that has been proven to bring down an autocrat, dictator, a regime such as Trump.

A power that coward fears for he knows we can take him down. He knows he is weak. He knows he will be abandoned by his sycophants. So, let's get it done. Do not fear. Just show up. Together we are stronger; oh, how I want to see that occur for my country and the children.

Why would anyone not show up if it can do so much good not just for our country but Ukraine and Europe and our allies and democracies across the world. We have been called upon the re-write history.

Show up! Recruit and encourage others. Inform them of the power we hold using the 3.5% SOLUTION. That's the ticket for motivation. Let's get this done.

Ukraine would have shown up if they elected Trump and found themselves where we are today. 100% of Ukrainians would have been on the streets for the past 95 days. Do we have it in us? Thank you. The support from around the world is like oxygen to Americans who are hitting the streets and doing all we can to save our democracy for our children. It is no accident that Ukraine and America are positioned where we are today for our countries are the gateway to autocracy taking hold around the world. Americans alive today are innocent to the power they hold. Ukrainians are seasoned in it. We are learning. We are encouraging each other. Hopefully, and with your kind support both Ukraine and America will in our struggles put a positive spin on the future. I am honored to have been chosen and to be alive at this time to play my individual part. God speed! God save Ukraine. God bless America. God care for all the people of the world in our united fight against oppression and oligarchs.

Our biggest 50501 protest should be in trumps birthday/parade. It should absolutely be the biggest turnout we’ve ever had.

Excellent point. Trump is truly the heart of MAGA and I’m not sure millions of people would suddenly turn to worship Vance or anyone like they do Trump. Maybe they would - but Trump is truly a charismatic and unique cult leader. But unfortunately there are so many other rotten people there - Russ Vought is one of the authors of Project2025 and boy does he need to go too.

Russ Vought is the architect of Project 2025. I honestly don't believe anyone will replace trump.

I also get confused when people say trump is charismatic. When? When he put out the full page ad calling for the death penalty of the Central Park 5 that were innocent? When he was walking in on teen pageant girls not dressed because he had to inspect them? When he told the 10 year old on the escalator he'd be dating her in 10 years? He he said on national tv he had sex in common with Ivanka? When?? It's baffling when anyone says charismatic. He makes me sick to my stomach. Makes my skin crawl. How anyone with a brain can say, oh, that was a long time ago, is mind blowing to me.

I agree completely - I should have clarified - and perhaps not used the word charismatic. But he seems to have some hold on his base that sane, moral, decent people can’t see. We see everything you have described and are revolted by him. I think this is a normal reaction to a truly vile human being. But none of this bothers his base. Like so many cult leaders, I truly don’t know what these MAGAs see in him - especially the ones who would will happily let him destroy their lives and STILL stand up for him! It’s an illness.

I have heard the word charismatic used to describe trump for over 9 yrs. I have always shook my head and wondered if they're looking at the same person I am. Did you see dozing donny sleeping at Pope Francis's funeral?

I also read an article that said lawyers have said they've never in their careers, seen a defendant fall asleep in court. And, of course, it was earlier this morning and I can't find the article.

trump was asleep in church morning after he was installed. Guaranteed he hasn't been since, until Pope Francis's funeral. Look at the slouching, the open mouth. My God. In church! This is how you know the man isn't a Christian.

Denise's avatar

Oh my gosh! I read the same article and I can’t remember where it was from either. The one that had the lawyers say they’ve never had a client fall asleep in court. And they called Biden “Sleepy Joe” - Trump was a disgrace at the funeral. Well he’s a disgrace everywhere but he was chewing gum, playing with his phone, and sleeping. I read that uncontrollable day sleeping is a sign of dementia - but we already know he has dementia. Also I love how he was placed on the end next to the aisle so only Melania had to sit with him. 😂😂😂

Impeached twice and never convicted. I’ve never seen so many people (Republicans in Congress) roll over and let him destroy the country - Congress could stop him but they refuse to do anything. Are they truly THAT scared of him or more scared they’ll lose their jobs? How do you look yourself in the mirror and think yes I put my job before my country even as it was being dismantled in front of me?
