What’s amazing is that NO ONE is talking about the fact that there are no tariffs on Russia!!!!

Interesting - never thought about that with all that is going on. anyone know if we do import anything from Russia?

Good point.. I just checked “The US does import goods from Russia…. The most common products imported from Russia are mineral fuels, precious metal and stone, iron and steel, fertilizers, and inorganic chemicals.” Why isn’t the entire US government up in arms about this?!?!

We do in fact import from Russia. I was shocked about that when Europe was cutting off imports and we didn’t. I was quite irritated over that.

I believe there are formal sanctions against Russia (if he hasn't canceled them) due to the war in Ukraine.

NiaSky's avatar

No, there were sanctions under Biden uObama and under George W. Bush Trump removed those sanctions and also open up air travel between Russia and America, which has been closed since Bush. Also, this is why they're dismantling our country.

Soon enough, other countries won't even need to tariff US goods. Trump is going to make US products radioactive on the world market, same as Elon with Tesla.

Before he threatened/disrespected us in Canada, I never checked labels at the grocery to see where something was from. Now, I do, and US products go back on the shelf, even if they're less expensive.

He's creating the worst trade barrier to the sale of US goods, making the world associate his toxicity to everything US.

To all Americans here, love you all. I know you didn't vote for this and I'm rooting for you to weather the storm.

Please know we hate him as much as you do. Only 30% of Americans voted for this buffoon but because of our electoral college system he won the presidency even tho he lost the popular vote. If this debacle doesn’t convince the Dems to do away w the electoral college when they’re back in power I don’t know what will.

I know, Ruben. I've been following politics since the first time he ran, and I've been following US politics a lot more than my own Canadian politics. =P

Thank you, David H. And haha, for a moment when I read that you "never checked labels at the grocery to store" and that now "US products go back on the shelf"...I thought wow, that's an interesting protest move for an American"...Oh you're in Canada! But still....I too am checking labels more often, out of curiosity....And will def buy as much Canadian maple syrup and whatever else I can! I saw something on a box of cookies maybe yesterday that said it was packaged both in the US and Canada...thought that was interesting....

It's unfortunate, but I do feel that the best way to hurt Trump, for us on the outside, is to hit the US economy. Our government's actions against Kentucky bourbon actually got Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul to speak up on tariffs.

I'm hoping that at some point, he'll start to lose MAGA support when his base feel the consequences of his actions.

Never because he is a narcissist, along with everyone in his administration. Nothing is ever their fault. It was never about making America great, only about making their bank accounts great.

As much as it will hurt I am glad that the rest of the world is fighting back. This is what they voted for so they deserve everything they have coming. Unfortunately, we are having to go along for the ride. All we can do is ride it out, continue to fight back, and show up at the polls. Get the right people in office and hopefully they can start repairing the damage. Which unfortunately, it will take a long time to rebuild the trust within our country and the global community. While also trying to repair the damage to our country and economy as well.

I've heard some rumors of a penguin uprising, as they were not pleased to be involved in human politics, and most of their views on social issues do not align at all with the current administration. As well, there has been a lot of confusion, as the penguin economy is just not comparable enough to our human economy for them to even know how to begin to respond. What can ya do? These things happen...I mean, only in the current hellscape we're living in, but that's neither here nor there.
