There is chaos in Washington as Senate Republicans don't have the votes to keep the government open, the Trump Administration weighs cuts to Social Security Administration, and more.
That's what they want, to "rip out the government like a tumor" and replace it with billionaire Musk and Theil controlled AI Grids. It's why they're fireing everyone and tearing down every fence without even knowing why it was put up in the first place: they want it to all fall into the ocean and then:
AI control web brought to you by Vance, Thiel, Musk:
Time code: 4:30 Vance: "Accept that This entire thing is going to fall in on itself. And so the task of conservatives right now is to preserve as much as can be conserved and so when the inevitable collapse of the country comes ensure that conservatives can help --> build back <-- the country."
Be careful what you wish for: You're probably not going to want to live under an AI spiderweb digital ID CBDC nightmare world. It will make what we have now, no matter how dysfunctional, seem like nirvana by comparison.
I was a federal employee through at least 2 shutdowns. It was illegal (!) for us to work unless a we were “essential government employees.” We did eventually get back pay. We were not laid off. This is the Dems only leverage right now so it is necessary. Close it down and get the Rs to negotiate. If it shuts down, pin it on the a Rs. It’s their doing. Why should we vote for the disastrous CR? Make them own their mess.
It sort of is but it's really not at the same time. The problem is is that right now they are shutting the government down in a strategic way that is fast but in their control when you shut the government down it is going to break things a little bit. But in a way that the Republicans cannot control we have to get the control away from their hands so that they are willing to do some sort of compromise
As an essential federal worker, I will continue working without pay if the government shuts down. While I can absorb some of the financial strain for the sake of the country, it’s unacceptable that working people are repeatedly held hostage by political dysfunction. Meanwhile, the same lawmakers who create these crises never miss a paycheck.
Passing a continuing resolution won’t fix the deeper problem—we’re stuck in a system where corporate media, both political parties, and the ultra-rich work together to keep things exactly as they are. One party openly embraces lies and authoritarianism, while the other operates within reality but still treats policies like Medicare for All and free tuition as “radical” rather than basic necessities. Instead of challenging corporate power, they manage it politely, reinforcing a system where billionaires thrive while workers struggle. Figures like Bernie Sanders and Robert Reich—who advocate for working-class unity—are sidelined because they threaten this bipartisan allegiance to wealth and power.
The real fight isn’t just about keeping the government open—it’s about breaking free from a system designed to keep us divided while the ultra-rich profit. Corporate media frames our choices as binary: civility vs. extremism, as if the only alternative to outright lies is settling for a party that refuses to challenge economic injustice. But the real divide isn’t left vs. right—it’s the powerful vs. the rest of us. Until we recognize this and demand a democracy that serves people over corporations, the cycle of shutdowns, inequality, and exploitation will continue.
Honestly, this feels like the best bargaining chip that Dems have. If Republicans want to get any semblance of functionality, they need to meet democrat demands. And they need to ensure those demands are met before voting to turn things back on.
First time in nearly 30 years of voting I’ve ever supported a shutdown. This is worth it. Hell, we can do a gofundme for everyone impacted. Many already are.
Democrats need to drop the gloves and fight now! And they need to get out into their states (especially in Republican districts like Bernie is doing) and hammer away at the awful things Trump and Musk and their administration and DOGE (name them and show their faces to everyone in America) and the Project 2025 Republicans who do NOT give a DAMN about average Americans. And pound away at the REAL "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse" in America - BILLIONAIRE TAX CHEATS!!!!!!!! Instead of us facing cuts to everything - THEY should be forced to PAY UP!!!! BILLIONAIRE TAX CHEATS ARE THE REAL WASTE FRAUD AND ABUSE IN AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!
for the love of all that's holy, please stop putting republicans in control of stuff at all because all they do is screw everything up, this is NOT rocket science!
Is John Federman still voting with the Republicans because last time I checked he was and if he is people need to call him and tell him to cut the shit.
You know he's playing games 🤬 I just checked on how many of Trump's cabinet nominees he's voted for, 10!!! He only voted no 8 times and abstained from voting 4 times!! Absolutely unacceptable behavior he has to GO
Fetterman forgets who helped him when he was desperate for funds for his election; who supported him when he was running for Mayor of Braddock, PA. …then for Lieutenant Governor. Has he forgotten how the little people throughout the USA thought that he Was an honest, principled person and believed in him to the tune of millions and millions needed to run a hard campaign for Senate. with a hardworking Brazilian wife, and three daughters. Fetterman’s wife Giselle is an Activist. She is a philanthropist, and founder of not one but 3 non-profits in Pa. Giselle is the founder of the nonprofit organization
Freestore 15104 and a co-founder of For Good PGH and
412 Food Rescue.
What is going on with David Fetterman
It seems it all began after his episode/stroke/ depression during the early part of his Senatorial tenure. Unless he kept his believes well hidden. Although I live in Washington State, I was one of many people throughout the country who believed in him and even donated.
I swear to God if any democrats vote for this, I'll do everything in my power to primary them. Here's the list that are questionable. Call/Email senators to demand they vote no.
The asterisk's are the ones who are NOT up for re-election next year, so for sure have zero excuse (although none of them do).
Jackie Rosen is my senator and I have called her two or three times at this point and said that if she lets the government stay open with her vote, I will personally make sure that every person I know votes and puts their money towards whoever runs against her in the next primary
Perhaps. The Dems are in a tough spot. To vote yes, implies this is a normal situation and that the Democrats could be seen as complicit in allowing trump/musk to take over our democracy.
Good!!! SHUT IT DOOOOWN!!!!

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Firing thousands of federal workers is the equivalent of a gov shutdown
BOTH PARTIES: Moved to the right
Not actually liking qhat they are doing, just agreeing.

Exactly this.
And this is the NYT headline. How about this simple substitute:
Republicans on verge of government shutdown.

Federal workers will receive back pay and maintain their health insurance if the government shuts down.

SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!
How is it good? These wealthy bastards won't feel a thing, while ordinary government workers and people on Social Security are suffering.

You’ll still get your SS check. I’m much more worried about what will happen if Metal gets his way and cuts or privatizes SS.
If the govt doesn't shut down....people who rely on SS may never get another one

The Republicans need to talk to their constituents!!
They were holding Townhall meetings, but their Republican constituents were blasting them and they didn’t wanna deal with it so they stopped them
Maybe Trump’s golfing trips should be cut 😡
EXACTLY!!!!
As a Democrat, I support a government shutdown this time to make MAGA Republicans negotiate away some of the slash and burn craziness.
First time in nearly 30 years of voting I’ve ever supported a shutdown. This is worth it. Hell, we can do a gofundme for everyone impacted. Many already are.
Maybe they are banking on everyone wanting a shutdown. I fear that their plans run deep.
Its already shut down with what Elon and Trump are doing. Democrats gotta take stand!
Good shut it down and blame the responsible parties every second… muskrat, dumpster and maga
We have nothing to lose. They plan on taking from us…shut it down!!!!
Shut it down!!!
they might get the votes they need were they not so intent on screwing poor & working people over in order to give tax breaks to the wealthy
They are literally firing these people by the day anyway. And the CR would give EM and DT massively more power over the $$. DO NOT SIGN.

He has said he will vote yes to approve the budget extension.

Fetterman needs to be removed. He doesn't care about people calling.
YES!!! shut it down, let the republicans take the consequences!!!!

• Elissa Slotkin (Michigan) **
• Gary Peters (Michigan)
• Jacky Rosen (Nevada)*
• Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire)**
• Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire)**
• Jon Ossoff (Georgia)
• John Hickenlooper (Colorado)
• Michael Bennett (Colorado)
• Mark Kelly (Arizona)**
• Ruben Gallego (Arizona)**
• Peter Welch (Vermont)
• Mark Warner (Virginia)
• Tim Kaine (Virginia)**
We also need to keep the pressure on Chuck Schumer and Fetterman 🤬
Jackie Rosen is my senator and I have called her two or three times at this point and said that if she lets the government stay open with her vote, I will personally make sure that every person I know votes and puts their money towards whoever runs against her in the next primary
Ok, so if we have a shut down, will that make it easier for them to dismantle everything?
This is what I was wondering…
I’m thinking it would get some of those trying to play block out of the way. 🫤
Perhaps. The Dems are in a tough spot. To vote yes, implies this is a normal situation and that the Democrats could be seen as complicit in allowing trump/musk to take over our democracy.
