He just needs to go on another network. I’ll follow him. Screw these networks bending the knee.

What other network? MSNBC? I’m delighted to see that MeidasTouch reached out. And, on top of all of that, the GOP just voted to eliminate funding for NPR. We, as Americans, have a lot of work on our hands. 😱

shereelee's avatar

NPR & PBS funding eliminated!!!!- and POTUS controlling Kennedy Center? and other cultural institutions- Unacceptablr , Unqualified #useyourvouce- Republicans have been trying for years to do this- whose pockets just got lined more,? building more detention centers,? Hitler started the same way #project2025 roll out

S. A. Linden's avatar

I just found out about this getting an email that was a personal invitation to Colbert to join the Meidas team.

Lois W. Halbert's avatar

We will too. We have watched less of CBS because of the 60 minutes issue and losing such a good man. ABC fired Moran. What in the hell is happening with media. Gone to the dark side and are not good, responsible media anymore.

Control over money is power. The trump regime threatens to cost big media corporations a lot to defend lawsuits or to deny needed government approval for something the company wants to do to make even more money. Independent journalism is filling in for now, but who knows how long that continues before trump clamps down on that, as well. And AI is going to help the government to do all that surveillance. It’s pretty daunting.

Elsie W: SubStack has evidently been sold(?) to a group that includes A16Z. Don't want to even guess how that's going to work.

Charissa B's avatar

Not sold, just round three of investors. You can Google it.

For those who want to see what the brouhaha was about, I just got this email, which featured Colbert's routine that got under CBS' skin:

<https://act.boldprogressives.org/survey/petition_2025_colbert/>

It was pretty daring and risky, but funny and so true!

I will say that maybe some of us watched Colbert tonight (I engaged my rarely used live TV out of curiosity), and he said he'd be going on for 10 more mos., so maybe the idea that it was about his contract demands has some merit? But the timing stinks. It didn't seem to affect his routine tonight much though. Paramount might have agreed to get rid of him as part of the civil settlement. TBC.

may have -$16 million plus close The Tonight show- Potus hates late night hosts- they are wickedly funny and on point

shereelee's avatar

Colbert is spot on , always- it wasn’t one bit that caused POTUS and foolish team to make incredulous demand- and btw how did they come up with charging cbs 16 million figure, for the cbs 60 minutes hated interview ? why not 5k why not 50 billion seriously these $ figures reflect what- #unqualified #iwanttobeking #unacceptable

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

You can also write all the media stations and tell them you won't watch them anymore. Instead you will be watching independent news sources where you will be getting the truth and not lies.

shereelee's avatar

FOX lies- CBS, NBC and ABC, MSNBC, CNN report excellent journalism

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

I don't see that CBS, NBC or ABC report the truth always. Why don't they always ask the hard questions?

Phyllis Carlin, Miami's avatar

And

certainly Colbert can have a show on Substack

Rose Edgar's avatar

I am now officially done with cbs. I will watch Colbert on whatever channel he ends up on. Hopefully he goes to Meidas Touch or has his own on Substack.

it’s not about that- this action is much bigger- it’s about potus desperately trying to control media and has little man syndrome

Call CBS and let them know your thoughts: +1-888-274-5343

F*ck CBS — Shari Redstone wants another billion dollars before she dies. Her father tried very hard to keep her from tearing apart CBS. To no avail.

S. A. Linden's avatar

This is just such a black look on Ms. Redstone. It was bad enough before, but now she sounds like a positive whore.

Ronda Scott-Marak's avatar

I cancelled my Paramount subscription already when they screwed with 60 Minutes

Ronda Scott-Marak's avatar

They are cancelling it May 2026 claiming it is strictly financial as they bend over arse up to sell Paramount to far-right Sky

Lois W. Halbert's avatar

We did when she caved the first time.

Substack!!! He doesn’t need CBS

A2stylist's avatar

When is enough enough?

Michelle Fischer's avatar

God help us all….they try to silence everyone

Granny Lambert's avatar

Wherever he goes we will follow him

Jennifer Palmer's avatar

Not until the end of NEXT MAY.

It’s still bad and problematic, but it’s also not them cutting the show instantly.

There will be enough people pissed about this that either they’ll reverse the decision OR Colbert will take his show to another platform.

shereelee's avatar

things no longer that simple- lots more drama to come

ScrewFascism8647's avatar

CBS has a customer service number for anyone who would like to call and let them know you will no longer be supporting CBS or Paramount+ due to their decisions to cave to fascism.

Pick 3. Then pick 9 to get to a rep.

This toxic firing of those who dare to stand against TACO is showing us over and over again that project 2025 is slowly but surely coming together. TACO is the perfect puppet to play their games. This is sickening and so unfair. My heart goes out to Stephen Colbert and his family.
