after that stunt he pulled on Jan. 6 he shouldn't have even been allowed on the ballot but, only in America because anywhere else in the world he would've been summarily executed for his treachery & most certainly not still be eligible for the nation's highest office, we are our own worst enemy

Justice Roberts ignored the law and the Constitution by swearing in Donald Trump. Roberts and trump both need impeachment.

only, it's much easier not to vote for someone than it is to get rid of them once they're in there

he doesn't nor ever did, that oath of office he swore to uphold was no more than something he said to get what he wanted as it seems to be for all republicans it seems all they want is the power without the attendant responsibility, the way they choose to " govern" but, still not one of them could do the damage they're so famous for unless voted into office so, whose fault is it, really?

I did my part, I didn't vote for him so, my hands are clean in this, it's on those who just could not bring themselves to vote for a woman because good character & integrity came attached to lady parts, you know, those who are stuck on stupid when it comes to thinking about gender & what's best, those for whom character isn't important nor even a factor in the equation because this was so unnecessary as to be obvious, we knew who & what he was from the first go 'round which is why I can't for the life of me fathom how he was allowed to happen again other than it being confirmation of the regressive thought process so prevalent among my fellow countrymen & women

You can start with Justice Roberts by swearing in a felon and ignoring the Constitution where it said traitors and conspirators who violated their oath can't be elected. So many wrongs.

You are asking the Republicans to uphold the law and the Constitution?? That might be a bit much. Another alarm bell, it only requires 6 more states to hold a Constitutional convention. If we don’t get these folks under control we might lose even more

I always say, he could be found eating barbecued baby parts in the middle of the chamber floor & all republicans would have to say coming upon the scene is, " where's the beer?" & as long as he has that R next to his name, he can do anything no matter how grossly heinous & not one of them will bat an eyelash or utter a word against him but, let it be a democrat who makes a misstep & they want that person's head on a platter immediately if not sooner without investigation or verification which goes right along with this electorate's behavior in that, no matter how poorly republicans perform their duties people will still go out & vote for them regardless but, a democrat has to be perfect in every aspect just to be considered never mind that anything that benefits the average American has come through democratic advocacy

Veronica, your observations are completely accurate. The mental image of barbecued baby parts and beer brings home the complete and utter obscenities this man and his fellow republicans continue to indulge in. At my age, I'm waiting on the day we the people rise up, because I am tired, pissed, and what little I have left is worth fighting for.

Exactly what I keep saying. Where are the people that can do something. We vote in people who are supposed to do what is best for our country. This surely is NOT what’s best for our country.

So we the people have to keep calling, writing, emailing our elected representatives letting them know that we aren’t happy with them.

Also making sure we show up if they are making an appearance and scheduling visits to local offices to talk to staff

also you have to recognize that the Republicans who voted against the bill did so because the cuts to Medicaid weren’t deep enough.

Shelley's avatar

That is even more scary to hear that. Why do they hate the less fortunate so much? Why do the less fortunate continue to vote for them when they do not care about their needs? I’m not sure it’s that difficult to understand but yet they continue to vote against their own needs.

But if we as a country, state, etc don’t vote in enough people to have control of something, either at the state level or federal level then where are the guardrails? . The other issue is that we the people are being gaslighted by the Republican Party. Mike Johnson blatantly lied and where we don’t have news media trumpeting it to the skies because they too are owned by conservatives, it’s a problem

Expand full comment
Shelley's avatar

Most people don’t pay attention to what they are voting for. They either don’t vote or they just don’t research enough. I try to do my best to vote for the people who have Ohios best interests at heart but still republicans get voted in. They never have what’s best for this state at heart. Besides this state is so pathetic a bit like the country governing right now. Let the people vote on what they want just to have the republicans then make changes to what the people clearly voted for because it does not fit their agenda.

I mean what do you expect when the malignant narcissistic sociopath is the most corrupt piece of shit in modern American history. Everyone with status and money 💰 🤑 knows they can give him a shit load of money and he will pardon any crimes they've ever committed. On that note. I think it's time that the Democrats revisit the laws and policies surrounding these presidential pardons that presidents can do. Because it is now being ABUSED. By this corrupt pasty orange asshole. It is unacceptable behavior and the GOP regime knows it and yet could care less. Since they too, are filling up their pockets with dark money. All these traitors should be prosecuted and thrown in prison. They are all DISGUSTING. 😤😤😤😡🤬

Trump’s version of justice?

Steal millions: get a yacht and a pardon.

Speak truth: get a target on your back.

It’s not a presidency, it’s a loyalty rewards program.

Fraud is the new freedom.

Accountability? Canceled.

This isn’t leadership. It’s a clearance sale on consequences. So... where the hell are they?

Where's our gd consequences???

Supreme Court

For the first time I am writing to the Supreme Court asking them to step in and save our democracy and Rule of Law. It is obvious to me that Congress is not going to stop Trump, so the Supreme Court Justices are the only ones left to do the job. If you want to join me, here is the address:

Supreme Court of the United States

1 First Street NE

Washington, DC 20543

Read Corey Brettschneider's The Presidents and the People. This has happened 5 times before with other bad presidents and the Supreme Court has frequently been on the wrong side.

Do appeal to them, because they might do the right thing, but don't depend on them. Brettschneider shows what works when the courts fail.

Do you know about this - House Republicans have inserted a provision into the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act that could significantly limit judicial oversight of the executive branch. The provision, found on page 562 of the 1,118-page bill, would effectively remove judges’ ability to hold parties in contempt for defying court orders.
