2025 Is The Year We Win Again

As a member of Generation Z, I am ready to fight alongside you all

Happy New Year everyone! I know I have not posted on Substack in a little bit, but I wanted to come back to say that I plan on posting here a lot more regularly now that we are in the new year. I also wanted to take a minute and write a post reflecting on 2024 and talking about how, together, we are going to start winning again in 2025.

I know 2024 did not go as many of us had hoped for. In fact, the results of the November 5th election were a culmination of a year filled with chaos and anxiety for those of us in the Democratic Party. We did not vote for Donald Trump, but we are still going to feel the impacts of his upcoming Presidency.

As a member of Gen Z, I wanted to take a minute to talk about my generation and where we go from here. Folks my age don’t know anything other than Trump. In fact, the first election I could remember vividly was 2016. I remember the moment Donald Trump was first elected, but I do not remember what our political system looked like before. I’m not alone when I say that. In fact, most people in my generation do not remember what politics were like before Donald Trump.

But, we do know what politics are like under Donald Trump, and I for one am fired up to hold Trump and his allies accountable. It’s my 2025 New Year’s resolution. In just a matter of months, we are going to have the first critical election in Wisconsin that will decide the future of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Whoever wins that race will ultimately decide whether the state can be gerrymandered by Republicans and whether the rights of Wisconsinites will be protected.

Then, just months later, we have critical elections in California, New Jersey, and Virginia, all of which will impact the national landscape. New Jersey was almost a state that flipped red in 2024. Virginia is one that is currently run by a Republican Governor in Glenn Youngkin. And, parts of California trended more red in November than we have seen in our lifetimes.

These elections are right around the corner in November, 2025, and I am ready to mobilize and work to ensure that we elect Democrats in all three key states. Remember, if you have Democratic leadership in our state, you are more likely to have your rights protected from what Donald Trump and the federal government plan to do.

During this year we will also begin recruiting candidates for the 2026 midterm elections that will decide whether or not Donald Trump can have four years of a Republican trifecta, or whether voters will help Democrats take back the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Not only are we now in recruitment season, but we are also gearing up to defend critical seats in the House and the Senate, like Senator Ossoff in Georgia.

I write all of this to say that I am not going anywhere, and I hope that you will join me in this fight. We have a long way to go. It is not going to be easy. But, together, we will make it through. Consider becoming a paid subscriber to support my work today:
