I think that’s the whole idea. To keep us focused on small things or tariffs that come and go so we can’t keep track of real news. That’s where u come in, Aaron. We depend on you and I’m glad ur not quitting. Please stay safe. 💕

I stopped getting news from anywhere but Aaron. If he doesn’t report it I don’t consider it important enough to give my attention to.

And there are over 200 others - 238, I believe - who were sent to El Salvador. By what right??? I think of them every day, but don't know what l can do to help.

As much as I wish we had the power to reach out and bring them home ourselves, in this case our power lays in our ability to communicate very loudly and thoroughly that what is happening to them isn’t okay. The administration will be forced to cave on something eventually. We need to be so loud that their own people start turning against them and they collapse from within

I’ve known about this strategy. There’s a lot of lies and nonsense thrown in the mix. Bannon should be locked up with all the rest of this admin. I have faith in you and what certain others on Substack put out. As far as social media, if it isn’t from a reliable source, I won’t believe it with out fact checking or hearing from a reliable source.

F**k the Heritage Foundation, Stephen Miller and all the other morons.

I’m sure I speak for everyone here, we have trust in you. 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸

Now that you mention it, I’ve gone from maybe one spam call a month to 3 or 4 a day recently - and all of them within a couple of minutes of each other.

Use this spreadsheet to call/email/write any of our representatives as often as possible. Not just your own state reps, reach out to those in other states. Be as loud as you can and share this. Use your voice and make some “good trouble.”

Thank you 💙 I was grumpy the information wasn’t easily accessible for multiple ways to contact in one place, so, I made one 😅 I’m trying to share it as often as I can wherever I can in hopes of people speaking up more. We need every voice possible 🤞

Megan, I live in MA- so how would calling other state reps help. I thought they don't even listen if we're not a constituent. I hope you or someone answers bc this has baffled me.

Megan Rothery's avatar

I think right now it’s just about overwhelming staffers. It takes about a month (or more) for me to get an email response from Republican senators (after using an in state address and they acknowledge me as a constituent). I think if we make people’s jobs so busy right now, we could sway some staffers to influence their vote for the next election (which hopefully happens). I think if people are going to take the time to reach out beyond their state, that speaks volumes to the issues we have in our country…or use an in state address/zipcode so you’re not ignored.

I do think anyone should be able to reach out to anyone on a committee if the topic we’re talking about is related to that committee. So on the spreadsheet I’m working on putting in the committees Senators are on (House reps are done) so you could target a topic based on what they’re *supposed to be following

Thank you, Aaron!! I've stepped back a little bit from the constant barrage, my mental health has needed it. I'm still checking in a couple times a day, but not just constantly doom scrolling and it's helping. Please take mental health breaks when you can too, we appreciate your dedication, but I think the vast majority of us want to see you take good care of yourself. 💙💙💙

💯 So true! I'm noticing how the exposure to the constant lies is really messing with my head. It's like they're making dishonesty a virtue. It's been said that the devil is the father of lies.

I looked it up (asked chatgpt)... "father of lies" (being the devil) is from Jesus in the gospel of John, 8:44. Not that I am a "bible thumper" and go around quoting it a lot. But here it resonates. We should use it as one of the 3-word slogans Michael C called for on his substack. Ha! "Father of Lies"! But John 8:44 is really about who liars to belong to.

When the zone is flooded, conscientious journalists find it virtually impossible to keep up with the firehose streams of information shooting in all directions. Even if one manages to chronicle the events of the Trump regime, accusations of TDS inevitably ensue. Every day, several instances of gross incompetence and utter fuckwittery occur, any one of previously would have been career-ending.

100% agree! My 1st thought about the Qatari jet was disbelief. Further reflection uncovers that Medicare cuts and budget cuts, South African immigration, etc take a back seat in the news and these events are actually occurring RIGHT NOW! It’s like the games of 3 card Monte I used to see on the streets of NYC. It’s all sleight of hand - with dire consequences.

We do need independent journalists like you Aaron. Keep up your indispensable work.

I also recommend Heather Cox Richardson’s SubStack “Letters from an American.” She cites her sources and, as a historian and professor, she puts today’s crazy world into a broad perspective based on history.

Finally, I have committed myself to writing a couple of letters a week and making phone calls to newspapers, representatives, and senators.

I couldn’t agree more Aaron! This I believe is intentional and this administration will do anything to “change the subject of them breaking the law”! We need to keep talking and posting about what matters and that is this administration breaking the law and not abiding by our constitution!
