Washington Post Staffers Sound The Alarm Over Future Of Newspaper

Mainstream media is corrupted by the billionaire class. Good thing Substack isn't.

Did you hear the news? Over 400 Washington Post staffers sent a letter to the owner of the paper, billionaire Jeff Bezos, demanding a meeting at the D.C. headquarters for the Post. In the letter, the staffers noted: “we are deeply alarmed by recent leadership decisions that have led readers to question the integrity of this institution, broken with a tradition of transparency, and prompted some of our most distinguished colleagues to leave, with more departures imminent.”

This is what happens when print media, and legacy media generally, is corrupted by billionaires. During the 2024 election, the nation saw this first hand. Jeff Bezos personally intervened in a possible endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, blocking the endorsement from ever seeing the light of day. Then, following the November election, Bezos blocked the release of a cartoon which showed Bezos and other billionaires groveling at the feet of Donald Trump.

That is not free press, and Washington Post staffers are now speaking up. This trend will likely only continue as those close to Donald Trump, and billionaires generally, get more involved in the press.

It’s not just the Washington Post too.

During the 2024 election, we saw legacy media channels fail everyday Americans time and time again. In print media, we saw the LA Times reject an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris because of their billionaire donors. On television, we saw CNN prop-up right wing talking heads like Scott Jennings. And then, shortly after the 2024 election was over, we saw Mika and Joe from MSNBC’s Morning Joe go to Mar A Lago to meet with Donald Trump, bury the hatchet, and kiss the ring.

My channel, whether on here, TikTok, YouTube, or Bluesky isn’t funded by a billionaire who can control what I can and cannot say. I have full editorial control over the content I release, how I release it, and when I release it. And, I am able to give my viewership the unvarnished, unbiased truth, even when they don’t want to hear it.

So, no matter what, my pledge to you is simple: I won’t be bought out by a billionaire who will control my platform. I will always share the truth. And, you will never catch me groveling at the feet of Donald Trump in Mar A Lago.

• U.S. regulators have banned Red Dye 3 from the food supply due to possible risks of cancer and health concerns.

• More than six million people in Southern California remain under critical fire warnings as containment of the fire slowly increases.

• The confirmation hearings of Pam Bondi for Attorney General and Marco Rubio for Secretary of State occurred without significant fanfare.

• The Biden Administration is suing Southwest Airlines over delayed flights.
