Today alone, the Dow Jones plunged over 500 points, the S&P 500 is nearing correction territory, and the Nasdaq is also in the red.
I’ve broken down the key moments from the press briefing so you can see exactly what was said—and what’s really happening. As you watch, keep in mind that Karoline Leavitt’s statements do not align with reality.

First, Karoline Leavitt was asked today whether or not Donald Trump bears the responsibility of the stock market crash. Her response was stunning:
Even Peter Doocy from Fox News is calling out the White House, questioning publicly whether someone in the White House shorted the DOW Jones.
An Associated Press reported then asked Leavitt about the impacts of tariffs on the American people. Leavitt, in response, called tariffs a “tax cut” for Americans. The reporter pushed back stating: “Have you ever paid a tariff? I have. They don’t get charged on foreign countries.” Leavitt took it personally stating: “I think it’s insulting that you are trying test my knowledge on economics.” I personally think its insulting that Leavitt is gaslighting us from the podium.
When asked about Canada possibly shutting off electricity to the United States, Leavitt seemingly threatened Canada stating: "There would be grave consequences imposed on Canada if they think about shutting off electricity for the United States and our citizens." Starting more wars with our allies…
And guess how she ended her press conference: by telling the American public that they should expect to see Donald Trump in a Tesla this afternoon. Yes, I am serious.
The truth is, Karoline Leavitt spent today gaslighting you and the rest of the American public. I encourage you to see through these lies and focus on the facts and the truth. The truth is, the impending recession is a direct result of Donald Trump’s economic policy. And, there is nothing this White House can say to get around that.
