With that, here is all the news you missed:

  • The Trump administration announced that hundreds of people were deported under the rarely used Alien Enemies Act to expedite the removal of migrants linked to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. This happened despite a ruling from a federal judge temporarily blocking the order. Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the action, saying it removed “hundreds of violent criminals” from the U.S. It is unclear what the timing was of these flights, but if they were not turned around, that could cause problems for the Trump Administration in the courtroom this week.

  • Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized U.S. District Judge James Boasberg's decision to block the Trump administration's use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Bondi stated that the judge "supported Tren de Aragua terrorists over the safety of Americans."

  • Republican Congressman Brandon Gill announced that he would be filing articles of impeachment against Judge Boasberg after his ruling yesterday against the Trump Administration. Elon Musk celebrated this announcement.

  • The Department of Justice has filed a motion with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit seeking to stay a temporary restraining order issued by U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg.

  • A CNN poll shows Democratic Party favorability at a record low, with 29% approval and 54% disapproval.

  • An NBC poll indicates that Trump's job approval rating stands at 47%, with 51% disapproving. Additionally, Democrats hold a narrow lead over Republicans on the generic congressional ballot, 48% to 47%.

  • The poll further indicates that 54% of registered voters disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy, and 55% disapprove of his approach to inflation and the cost of living.

  • Moreover, it shows that 65% of registered Democrats prefer congressional Democrats to stand firm on their positions, even at the cost of bipartisan progress, while 32% support compromising with Trump.

  • The worst number in the poll for Trump was that only 30% of independent voters approve of Trump's performance, while 67% disapprove.

  • A devastating fire at the Pulse nightclub in Kočani, North Macedonia, has resulted in at least 59 fatalities and 155 injuries.

  • Two decades after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is once again embarking on a rebuilding journey—this time, through mentorship. Big Brothers Big Sisters is making a comeback in the city for the first time since the program was forced to shut down in the storm’s aftermath. Since its return to New Orleans, the organization has already paired 15 children with mentors, marking a promising new chapter for the city's youth.

See you this evening.
