Tonight, I’m writing to you from my couch — under a blanket, with a heating pad and a bag of sour candy (yes, photo below). What started as a minor ear infection has gotten worse, and I’m finally giving in to what my body’s been trying to tell me all week: slow down.
Still, even in the quiet, I’m thinking about tomorrow — because the quiet won’t last.
Senate Republicans are set to vote on their domestic policy budget bill tomorrow afternoon, a proposal that’s already on shaky ground after the Senate Parliamentarian struck down several key provisions. There’s a lot on the line, and I’ll be covering it all as soon as I’m back on my feet.
This is the kind of moment that reminds me why I do this work. And also, why I need your help to keep doing it.
If you value timely, independent reporting that follows the power — not the party — I hope you’ll consider subscribing. Your support doesn’t just fund this newsletter; it makes nights like this possible, when I can rest without guilt knowing I have a community that cares about real reporting. It’s what allows me to be ready the moment things start moving again — and trust me, they will.
So tonight, I’m grateful. For the pause. For the sour candy. But mostly, for you — the readers, subscribers, and supporters who make this platform what it is.
I’ll be back at it tomorrow, covering every twist of what’s shaping up to be one of the most consequential votes of the session.
Until then, rest well — I know I will.
