In a deeply troubling revelation, reports are emerging that Shari Redstone, the controlling shareholder of Paramount Global, allegedly asked Paramount/CBS CEO George Cheeks whether certain politically sensitive 60 Minutes segments—specifically those involving Donald Trump or his policies—could be delayed until after she finalized a business deal with Skydance Media. If true, this isn’t just a case of corporate interference in journalism—it’s a direct assault on press freedom in the United States.
I, for one, will not cave.
As an independent journalist myself, I rely on readers like you—not conglomerates, not corporate sponsors, and certainly not political gatekeepers. Your support keeps this work alive. You are the reason truth still has a fighting chance.
Tonight, I cancelled my Paramount subscription. Not just in protest, but in defiance of a system that prioritizes shareholder returns over democratic accountability. Instead, I’m putting my money and trust where it belongs—with independent journalists who continue to investigate, speak out, and report the truth, no matter how uncomfortable or dangerous that truth may be.
This isn’t an isolated incident. It’s part of a broader trend of powerful institutions bowing to political and financial pressure. Paramount, ABC, law firms, universities, and many other once-trusted pillars of our society are showing cracks under the weight of money, influence, and fear. Where independent journalism once thrived on the integrity of holding the powerful accountable, we’re now witnessing corporate overlords pushing for editorial control in pursuit of profit or political favor.
Make no mistake: journalistic independence is dying. And it's dying not with a loud, public battle, but quietly—behind closed doors, through phone calls and backroom deals, in meetings where truth is weighed against quarterly earnings and campaign endorsements.
Now more than ever, we must choose where we get our information and whom we empower with our attention and resources. If the mainstream press continues to buckle, it will be up to the independent press to carry the torch.
And we will.
I canceled mine today as well👍👍👍
Why are all these Billionaires such frightened little snowflakes?
