I have an urgent mid-day message for you.
Last night’s 60 Minutes broadcast shook me to my core—not because of what was reported, but because of what was revealed between the lines. After spending significant time reflecting on the future of journalism in America, I feel an urgent need to speak plainly and directly.
60 Minutes openly admitted that Paramount, its parent company, is now more involved in the editorial production of the show. Why? Because Paramount needs Donald Trump's approval for an upcoming merger. This isn’t just corporate entanglement—it’s the selling out of journalism itself. It’s the clearest sign yet that powerful institutions are willing to compromise their journalistic integrity to appease a political figure who has openly attacked and sought to control the free press.
And, the threat to the free press is great. I’m fighting back, but can only do it with your support. Consider subscribing today:
We’ve seen the warning signs before. Before Trump took office for this second term, he settled a lawsuit with ABC News for $15 million. He threatened 60 Minutes after the Kamala Harris interview and later sued CBS News. He consistently labeled the media as "fake news," eroding public trust and laying the groundwork for this very moment.
Now, emboldened by the power of the presidency once again, Trump isn’t just attacking the press from the outside. He’s actively manipulating it from within. The pressure isn't subtle. It’s a coordinated, transactional effort to control narratives, silence dissent, and bend journalism to serve political interests.
We are witnessing a slow, quiet strangulation of journalism in America.
It’s not that the "Mainstream Media" is dying—it’s that journalistic independence is. Corporate media entities, reliant on mergers, ad revenue, and political favors, are increasingly making decisions that prioritize survival over truth-telling.
And this is exactly why I am independent.
I am not backed by corporate sponsors. I do not seek approval—or fear disapproval—from the Trump Administration or any other political power. I answer to you, my readers, and to the truth. Nothing else.
If they come after me, I will not fold. I will stand tall. I will fight back. Because this moment—this very moment—is too important.
Journalism is not supposed to be easy or comfortable. It’s supposed to be courageous. It’s supposed to challenge power, not kneel before it. I intend to live up to that calling, no matter how hard it gets.
I hope you'll stand with me. Because the future of free, independent journalism in America depends on people who refuse to cave.
I will never.
Heard this and immediately cancelled my Paramount+ account
Again, none of these big media corporations had to bow. Paramount wants a merger so they kissed the ring. Trump is lining his pockets by these companies.
We appreciate all you do Aaron.
