That’s rich coming from an actual con artist.

Donna Nolte's avatar

For real - and no one "makes up" numbers like he does. His reality actually makes me laugh out loud. And then cry a little.

Lois W. Halbert's avatar

Slept in and first thing I do is listen to you. Trump is a rich man and doesn't understand what it's like for the rest of us. Worked so hard all my life and he is causing my retirement to disappear way sooner than anticipated. I don't have the energy to go back to work at 84. My groceries are up $287 per month. My supplanted went up almost a $100 a month. House and car insurance went up $2,000 per year. My electric and gas and gasoline bills went up. We went out to dinner 2xs this year. Both for “special” birthdays. 2 people $189. 4 people $384. Our Vet bills went up and we get a discount. My prescription went up to $146. And Trump has not idea of affordability and the suffering because of him and his sycophants. No idea. He just an evil con man.

Deb Fyfe's avatar

I slept in and I also listen to him first thing. We are also retired and I get so angry when I realize that the president has no idea what we're going through and doesn't care. He and his admin are just pure evil. I wouldn't be surprised if Miller knew about the suffering and just didn't care. Or even smiled. Just know we're in this together and hopefully we can change it. I don't know how but I'm relying on people smarter than me.

I get concerned at the apparent remake of Vance too. Because he is simply "hard." Vance is an extremist who knows no limits. I can tell in a few seconds that if placed in the position that Trump is in right now, Vance would not budge on the shutdown forever.

He is not in touch with reality, he's in touch with Peter Thiel, the Antichrist guy.

Dems need to start NOW planning on how they will handle this.

Peter Tey's avatar

Vance is unprincipled, ambitious, ruthless and an opportunist. On top of that he is tightly related to Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation

S. A. Linden's avatar

Your first sentences says it all.

You have nailed J. D. Vance. Thank you.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

I think he honestly believes things are going well. When was the last time he was in a store to buy anything? SNAP was not expanded under Biden and the majority of people that receive it are working. The others are either disabled, students or caring for sick loved ones. They don't want you to look it up cause then you will know what liars they are. He thinks Thanksgiving items from Walmart are down this year. Well thats due to generic items and less of them than last year. I don't know how anyone can believe his lies.

Peter Tey's avatar

In a speech in Florida, yesterday, for super rich business people, some from Saudi Arabia, he said, and I am not kidding, we are experiencing a "golden age" and he created an "economic miracle"

I guess in this case, if HE says so, it (really) must be true..

I want to point out something about the flights being canceled. Sorry for posting on your comment. I can’t afford a membership. With flights canceled. That is going to affect only people who can afford to fly to visit family for the holidays. Those are people who aren’t on SNAP.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

Very True! I suggest these people start booking train rides, car trips and bus tickets. They need to bare some of the pain too in this battle to retain the social safety net. Because I can garuntee you that if Trump gets away with The Big Beautiful Ugly Bill They will quickly the rest. They are already drafting plans to eliminate Social Security Benefits to the physically handicapped and raising retirement age to 70. This when more than another 1 million people were laid off last month! This is an attempt by the Billionaires to grab all wealth in this country and leave nothing for the rest of us. This may be our last stand. It is very clear that the Republican Party is a totally wholly owned subsidiary of Corporate America and the Billionaires who own it!

Catherine Ognissanti's avatar

They have been trying to eliminate Social Security for decades. I have been on disability since 2014 and the injury I suffered was in 2001, so I worked 13 extra years in pain before I filed for it. If he thinks he is gonna take my money away from me without a fight, he has another thing coming like lawsuits up the wazoo. The only people that should determine someone's physical stature is a doctor and I saw plenty of them. And I didn't get it right away. 3 years I waited while I worked in severe pain. I hope he rethinks it but if not, the people that will sue will leave him without any money and then he can go to the store to shop and see the price of things. Karma is a bitch.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

I think you misunderstood. This isn't part of the shutdown, this is legislation that Republicans are planning to introduce next if they win and the government reopens. It would be perminant! The billionaires actually want to as soon as possible eliminate Social Security Permanently. But they are doing it in steps.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

Republicans = Billionaires who have completely bought the Party through political donations and PACs. Since Reagan, with money and high priced lobbying they have totally shifted the tax burden to the middle and working classes then watched us fight over the scraps. According to Elizabeth Warren Billionaires have added an additional $687billion to their net wealth this year so far!

Catherine Ognissanti's avatar

Its sickening isn't it? People are starving, federal workers aren't being paid and prices of everything is weighing on all of us. And I heard Musk is set to become a trillionaire. You think he could donate some money for SNAP so kids don't go hungry but it seems Republicans don't care about us, just enriching themselves. If I wasn't so angry, I would feel sad for them. They have no heart or soul.

Catherine Ognissanti's avatar

I knew it wasn't part of the shutdown but Republicans being in charge can do it very easily. However, there are a lot of their own constituents that are on social security and I know the billionaires are behind it as well as wall street. They all have enough money, leave mine alone. After all, it is MY money that I contributed with every paycheck. I think the majority of the country would revolt if they did that, not that they wouldn't but they would pay dearly for it.

Louise Purfield-Coak's avatar

I think the Country is already in revolt.even in Deep Red Mississippi even county Commission and local School Boards flipped Blue!

I feel for you and I understand completely. I admire your fighting spirit. Good luck

Affordability is a new term for me. That tells you everything you need to know. He can’t distinguish what is real or what isn’t due to his cognitive decline or his willful ignorance. Either way he’s not fit to be President and never has been.

Hilariously, Ohio;s GOP candidate for governor next year, billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, suddenly started using it yesterday. Gee, I wonder who he's kowtowing to?

Cindy Abbott's avatar

Though now, after just a day, the dear leader is saying affordability is a con, so not to use the word any more. Vivek wil keep flapping in the wind. And we all knowthe only Con is Don.

S. A. Linden's avatar

I'm in Ohio too, and I'd ask Vivek "Why now?" Why weren't you seeing it before? Maybe you're just too stupid and out of touch for Ohio's next governor, Vivek?

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Vivek is a billionaire. What does he know about "affordability"? He was just trying to prove his undying loyalty to Trump which may not be a very effective tactic next year, fingers crossed.

You know what’s affordable? The Epstein Files.

Dominique Ridgewell's avatar

Which is the real reason that the speaker of the house is continuing the shutdown - to avoid swearing in Adelita S. Grijalva representative-elect for Arizona's 7th congressional district - because she has made clear that she will be the final required vote to release the Epstein files. To make the protection of an immoral pedophile and his associates a priority over the welfare of the entire country is treason and should be prosecuted as such. It is illegal to withold representation of those American citizens in Arizona and the lengths to which this administration has gone to prevent disclosure speaks volumes about what those files contain.

I would like to see those lists side by side by side. Then we could actually see what is up and what is real.

S. A. Linden's avatar

Walmart seems to know more about business strategy than Donald. See what they did? To keep the "basket" comparable to last year's, they downsized it.

Trump is not a "successful businessman." He's a flat-out failure.

Dominique Ridgewell's avatar

And substituted their own Great Value brand instead of the name brands from last year. A accurate comparison would be to price out the same exact brand name food products. The Great Value Thanksgiving meal ought to be served to Trump, Melania and all his sycophants - with a camera rolling to see if they notice any differences from years before!

S. A. Linden's avatar

It would be great if someone with a huge mouthpiece online would actually shop for the same items that were in last year's Walmart basket and post the results!

MM Harris's avatar

Everything (and possibly everyONE) he touches turns into ............

He sure is. Another reason he should not be in charge of our country. He know absolutely nothing about business or running one much less about government.

In Wisconsin, SNAP benefits thankfully seem to be restored.

Carrie T's avatar

I heard that the SNAP benefits being distributed today are due to the individual states, not because Trump complied. I don’t know what is true, but it’s worth looking into.

That if the federal SNAP benefits & contingency funds still exist. I wouldn't put it past DT & his administration to have already stolen it for themselves.

Someone should take him shopping. Let him pick out everything you need to make a Thanksgiving dinner, down to the spices! I bet he has no CLUE what needs to be purchased!

Kathy Fielding's avatar

I doubt that he has never been in a grocery store.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Anyone remember. the food stamp challenge of 10-15 years ago when elected officials tried to shop on the amount a food stamp recipient got? Unfortunately, the people that did it were entirely the people that supposed food assistance not those who wanted to cut it and ended an education. My Senator Sherrod Brown and my congresswoman Marcia Fudge did it. Marcia publicized her event and a woman who actually got food assistance showed up and walked around the store with her giving her recommendations on what to buy anyhow to cook with it. They really hit it off and it turned into the best event! Can you even imagine Trump talking to an ordinary person like that?

Cindy Abbott's avatar

Our rep at the time Jackie Speier took part -- yes, it's less than $8/day per person (in 2024 the average was $6.20).

Mary Nikakis's avatar

Can you imagine an ordinary (helpful, courteous, authentic, knowledgeable) person wanting to attempt a coherent and respectful conversation with him??

Teri Gelini's avatar

He's never been in a grocery store or put gas in a car. He just orders everyone else together him what he wants. they have to bring everything to him including clothes. He is a spoiled selfish hateful man who now has dementia and is not the nice dementia person but the really mean one.

Kristen's avatar

Someone needs to price the exact same prices this year that were in last years basket to prove prices have gone up!!

Elizabeth Hussey's avatar

I'm all about him and the GOP backtracking on affordability. This will absolutely affect the midterms and get rid of these bozos.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

A word doesn't pay the bills. He can use all the nice-sounding words he wants but it won't work if people can't pay rent and utilities and buy groceries.

Justice's avatar

Groceries and energy are down? How out of touch is he? I work in retail I’ve watched prices jump 25-50% and energy costs have skyrocketed.

Ann cole's avatar

Shelby's avatar

I'm sure gaslighting will make people stop talking about affordability.

Savannah's avatar

Unfortunately the idiots will fall for it and be like yeah that never existed, he’s definitely right! But they’ll still complain to their family and friends that they can’t afford anything extra this year bc they’re barely getting by after bills, groceries, and gas come out. Their one brain cell is really fighting for its life lol

I recall Hitler's last days in the Berlin bunker with his handful of remaining loyalists. They never changed. Gave Hitler and his mistress Eva Braun the gun bullets and cyanide tablets to them. Hitler and Eva walked into next room and closed door. Eva died of cyanide pill. Hitler gave himself double whammy of cyanide pill and head gunshot. The loyalists tried to escape unsuccessfully. Russian forces got them. Historical facts. Russians found bodies of Hitler and Eva. They still hold Hitler's skull in Moscow. Facts.

After seeing him in the Oval Office reacting to, or rather not reacting to, another person in a health crisis, I'm even more convinced that he is ill and has dementia. He fell asleep during the press conference he had called, and looked a ghastly shade of pale. If he can't see how ludicrous it is to put tacky faux-gold elements on the White House, he is too far gone to head a nation. As Steve Bannon said yesterday, "If we lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison, myself included." All of those using and supporting the unconstitutional acts of the POTUS should have consequences for their actions.

Mel's avatar

I heard an audio clip last night of him on Howard stern (I believe that's where it was from) talking about someone that fell and started bleeding in front of him and all he cared about was getting the blood up. It's disgusting to hear him talk about his reaction to that happening.

JulieeEliz's avatar

Yes! The person fell at Mar a Lardo and dared to bleed on Trumpf’s marble!! The man is a demon. Just facts…..

Katherine C. James's avatar

When I see Donald Trump's empty face, I think he was raised by people with no empathy to have no empathy himself. In 1964 Fred Trump destroyed Steeplechase Park at Coney Island by sending out invitations to "a demolition party when he razed the site in 1966 before it could receive landmark status." https://www.6sqft.com/50-years-ago-donald-trumps-father-demolished-coney-islands-beloved-steeplechase-park/ In 1980 Donald Trump "demolished historically significant friezes from New York’s Bonwit Teller building—despite having promised them to the Metropolitan Museum of Art—to clear the site for Trump Tower." When he did it, he did it with malice to ensure the art was gone: "the workers were told to remove the bronze latticework over the entrance with blowtorches, separate the friezes from the walls with jackhammers and break them off with crowbars, and throw them down into the interior of the building where they shattered into a million pieces." https://news.artnet.com/art-world/donald-trump-bonwit-teller-friezes-met-2132673 Trump thinks fake gilding is beauty. He has a soul to match that belief. I don't want a person incapable of empathy running my country.

Cindy Buchholz's avatar

I wish someone could show the cost of the exact same 21 items this year vs last year!

Roxy's avatar

I was wondering the same thing. It has to be out there somewhere.

Mel's avatar

I know some ppl that posted a picture of their grocery receipt last year and said they were going to do that but I don't think they have yet & idk if they will.

Lori P's avatar

Super easy to spend 25% less when you buy 40% less. What are Americans supposed to go without? The Turkey? The stuffing? We go without and he gets a ballroom? A gold plate airplane? Golf trips every single weekend?

Peter Tey's avatar

Big , fancy parties in Maralago

MM Harris's avatar

He also just gave Argentina 20 BILLION of our tax dollars. It's supposedly a loan. ... a loan to a country that has already bailed out of paying back any of the (6? 7?) loans given them in the recent past by others........... and HERE, millions are without food, while the fact that our own tax dollars have been consistently authorized by Congress to be set aside specifically to assist those who need help with food is being specifically IGNORED by this president.

Lori P's avatar

That was not a loan, is was a currency purchase, which is an incredibly complex financial vehicle and extremely risky. It’s insane. No govt should be a part of. Transactions like that.

SoniaB's avatar

And something like half of America still seems to think that he actually cares about them. You have go give it to DT: he's good at conning people, on an incredible scale.

Maggie's avatar

They are trying to gin up discontent so we engage in civil disobedience. Starving people get angry when their babies go hungry. Then he can attack Americans with the military, declare martial law and suspend elections.

Cat Dad's avatar

This. Meanwhile, Chuck Schumerer is worthless along with the rest of Dem “leadership”

S. A. Linden's avatar

Civil disobedience doesn't have to be violent. But legacy media and the other billionaire-owned media (talkin' to you, Ellisons) need to get a clue. They refuse to report fairly or accurately about what's going on. Americans are starting to depend on social media for news and it's a crap shoot as to truth.
