I keep hoping I'll hear that Congress is standing up for us!! Epstein files to be fully released.. Affordable care ins premiums being extended...defunding ICE...Goddamn leaving Greenland alone and climate change being truly addressed.. anyone of these actions would be something to behold but alas another year of my mental health tanking 😭😭😭

I agree, but it's not just about spiritual dignity. It's also about leadership and courage.
I do wonder whether the US is worth saving. You have to look at it as a whole. A large number still support Trump and all his excesses. This may not be the only face if the nation but it does showed its true colors. For one, I will never visit the US again as it is constituted, I have many friends there, but I want nothing to do with their country (as with Russia, despite my Russian friends).
The world has changed. It is no longer safe or easy to go back. NATO needs to be reconstructed with true allies, the UN also needs to be reinvented. Europe needs to be more assertive, the US may need to break up, with those parts that do not wish to be a fascist state forming a new union. But this will take time and meanwhile they're will be much instability and opportunities for bad players.
What we do in the next ten years will determine whether the human race has a future, or whether it becomes a failed experiment. Nature will move on, here and in other places whether we are part of that or not will depend on us.

I agree in general. I don't see us as victims though. I see us as finally catching on to the oligarchs' cynicism. We work within the Laws of our country, so though the wheels of justice grind slowly, they grind exceedingly fine...(I forget who said that, but I'm not the original author!) We are not ok with being mere watchers. We are looking to kick out ICE and reclaim the dignity of human beings in our country. We do not fear "illegals." We do not think our country is overrun. We think our government is over impressed with itself and being awful to human beings, and we don't LIKE it. We want it to stop, resume the rule of law.

I agree, but it's not just about spiritual dignity. It's also about leadership and courage.
I do wonder whether the US is worth saving. You have to look at it as a whole. A large number still support Trump and all his excesses. This may not be the only face if the nation but it does showed its true colors. For one, I will never visit the US again as it is constituted, I have many friends there, but I want nothing to do with their country (as with Russia, despite my Russian friends).
The world has changed. It is no longer safe or easy to go back. NATO needs to be reconstructed with true allies, the UN also needs to be reinvented. Europe needs to be more assertive, the US may need to break up, with those parts that do not wish to be a fascist state forming a new union. But this will take time and meanwhile they're will be much instability and opportunities for bad players.
What we do in the next ten years will determine whether the human race has a future, or whether it becomes a failed experiment. Nature will move on, here and in other places whether we are part of that or not will depend on us.
I don't see it as 'spiritual' in the least. I see it as plain old, OLD, racism and misogyny, a power grab by men who cannot bear fears of migration of people in So. Hemispheres. They fear their whiteness will be "diluted", just as they feel their maleness threatened by women. This is Bannon, Miller, Vought and other rich white men trying to stop the inevitable, driven by the climate change they say doesn't exist; they repudiate people of color (this is at least a 400-600-year-old-fear), and want to keep women at home to breed and to take "care" of the men and their "needs." I have news for them though. The changes our Earth is going through--no matter the cause-- are inexorable. Billions of people live in the southern hemispheres and they need water, food and space to live. Women will not go back to being sexual slaves and breeders. Period. So the anti-science, anti-critical-thinking people like Trump are in fact outdated, living in a new world, outnumbered, and cannot prevail. One can be 'spiritual' or not; but the changes on our Earth are relentless. All we have to protect Humanity and Life is our brains, ingenuity, creativity, generosity, and willingness to work together instead of constantly skirmishing over gold, women and water. Dress everyone in shmattas and tell them God is watching them, but that's merely efforts at crowd control; the facts remain impassively the same. We have hard choices, adjustments, problems to solve. This other just wastes our time.

What’s happening is on purpose with Project 2025 (and Putin?). Trump is distracting us while they’re behind the scenes plotting. Congress needs to invoke Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution: The President, Vice President, and all civil officers can be removed from office for conviction of treason, bribery or other high crimes.

Unfortunately, it seems his mental state will have to get even worse (malignant narcissism and early dementia-probably good deal of frontal lobe atrophy) for the 20 Republican Senators needed to convict for impeachment, which is a slow process, involving several steps. And Amendment 25 requires a majority of cabinet members, who then have to advise Congress to remove him; and he can appeal their statement. Again a rather difficult process, requiring behavior shocking Republicans enough to consider country over party and their positions. Trump controls Republican party apparatus, so they depend on him for much of financing of their campaigns.
And, of course, if he is removed, we have J.D. Vance.
They need to get to the point of invoking Article 2, Section 4 to get rid of all of them, not just Trump because yes we’ll get Vance. Thank you for a more realistic appraisal. I agree. As a Democrat I cannot possibly imagine having helped all the vile things that have gotten promoted in the last decade. We are dismayed that anyone would agree with some of the more extreme viewpoints, outright lies, desperate mis-characterizations, and relentless blaming. We understand much of it has been 'stoked', intentionally spread knowing it was incorrect, by those most desperate to 'mold' public opinion. We are amazed at how many are willing to be 'molded.' But this is not new in human history. We find that these things get purposely performed for a reason, and people get caught up in it and are thus more apt to do what the people trying to control outcome want.
I think that is an unfortunate thought.. All this blaming! Don't you know, every group has something they want, something they fear, something they say they believe and something they refuse to even think about. In the final analysis, those things are pretty much the same: wants= usually something essential like food or safety; fears= something threatening, or they believe is, to annihilate them; something they (may say) they believe= something that eases the fear of death comforts them/makes them feel special to a deity's protection; and something they refuse to even think about= that all these things are basically EVERYONE's wants, fears, beliefs, and unthinkables!
