Yes some counties changed how primary voting works and there was a lot of confusion. They weren’t turned away. They were probably informed about where to go vote for the democrat ballot. Some counties have separate poll sites which is dumb.

When you go up to the table to show who you are, and they check you off with their records, which will show that you are a legitimately registered voter in that precinct. The next person at the table will ask whether you are a democrat or a republican, only in the primary election, and then you will be handed the appropriate primary ballot.
I have never heard of a machine which is stipulated by party until now. Our courthouse has had computers for voting, but in a general election, as opposed to a primary election, there would be no stipulation. At least that is the way I’m considering it. Thank goodness we get a paper ballot, and then we just step into a booth or station to vote.
Did she mean ballots? In the primary, we declare our party. That is why done people do not vote in a primary election. A voter must declare the party in order to receive the correct ballot with the people listed for that party. It is not a machine.
Or maybe it is computerized there by machine. If that is the case, maybe there is a longer line of democrats because there are fewer machines containing that ballot, and some democrats could not get to a machine in the time the poll was open. Recently in my state, I called the state Board of Elections due to a question about a possibly bogus message I had received. I did learn that some people had been sending out polling information and. I suspect on purpose, telling people the wrong places were for the location of their voting poles. The election board workers call the people to stop the people who were sending wrong information. I wonder if that’s what happened in Texas.
Judy, I am watching it live and what you described is what they also stated. Now, the Texas Supreme Court is overruling the lower court that granted Dallas County the right to stay open until 9:00 pm because hundreds of voters went to the wrong site.
Linda, thank you for the update. I do not have television so this helps a lot! Every person who was sent to the wrong polling place must be allowed to vote.
In the future, as well as now, even though the polls there are closed, everyone should double check at their county courthouse to know exactly where their polling places are. Even if it has always been in one place, it is important to check in case it has been moved.
Perhaps this incidence will lead to more early voting in the future. I am just sick for all of the people who did not get to vote and to have their votes count. Something needs to be done to make up for it and to let them be able to vote because they did try!

My understanding is Texas AG Ken Paxton filed and objection to judge order and Republican State Supreme Court has paused the lower judges order to extend the polls open until 9pm. She's filing an objection and we won't know who wins until that is completely decided.

One of TRUMPS largest financial supporters ! Something definitely seems...off.

They can see who you are voting for. and how are independents to vote if an independent is running? a third machine? Or if an independent wants to write in a candidate? they have to put it in a democrat or republican machine? and how do you vote if you vote for president (for example) one way, and other officials on the ballto another way? sounds confusing to me.... and very illegal.

Yes some counties changed how primary voting works and there was a lot of confusion. They weren’t turned away. They were probably informed about where to go vote for the democrat ballot. Some counties have separate poll sites which is dumb.

None of that sounds normal. So what do they ask you when you’re at the door to go in? Are you a republican or a democrat? You say a democrat OK you go over here to vote you vote on these machines, like these are special machines they’re fixed just for you
When you go up to the table to show who you are, and they check you off with their records, which will show that you are a legitimately registered voter in that precinct. The next person at the table will ask whether you are a democrat or a republican, only in the primary election, and then you will be handed the appropriate primary ballot.
I have never heard of a machine which is stipulated by party until now. Our courthouse has had computers for voting, but in a general election, as opposed to a primary election, there would be no stipulation. At least that is the way I’m considering it. Thank goodness we get a paper ballot, and then we just step into a booth or station to vote.

Did she mean ballots? In the primary, we declare our party. That is why done people do not vote in a primary election. A voter must declare the party in order to receive the correct ballot with the people listed for that party. It is not a machine.
Or maybe it is computerized there by machine. If that is the case, maybe there is a longer line of democrats because there are fewer machines containing that ballot, and some democrats could not get to a machine in the time the poll was open. That still makes no sense. If it is the case, they must remain open or provide for each democrat who wants to vote. I’ll be interested to know how it is. I always choose a paper ballot.

Recently in my state, I called the state Board of Elections due to a question about a possibly bogus message I had received. I did learn that some people had been sending out polling information and. I suspect on purpose, telling people the wrong places were for the location of their voting poles. The election board workers call the people to stop the people who were sending wrong information. I wonder if that’s what happened in Texas.
Judy, I am watching it live and what you described is what they also stated. Now, the Texas Supreme Court is overruling the lower court that granted Dallas County the right to stay open until 9:00 pm because hundreds of voters went to the wrong site.
Linda, thank you for the update. I do not have television so this helps a lot! Every person who was sent to the wrong polling place must be allowed to vote.
In the future, as well as now, even though the polls there are closed, everyone should double check at their county courthouse to know exactly where their polling places are. Even if it has always been in one place, it is important to check in case it has been moved.
Perhaps this incidence will lead to more early voting in the future. I am just sick for all of the people who did not get to vote and to have their votes count. Something needs to be done to make up for it and to let them be able to vote because they did try!
(I need to get some sleep so I will be around to vote when it is our state’s turn to vote and for a busy early morning. Intermittent dozing keeps me up much later, but this is such a concern.)

Linda, your decision sounds wise. I doubt that they could do that in a small area, but voting very early in the day always helps in case anything unexpected should arise. Some people do not have much choice.
