I pray the military officers fulfill their oaths and do not follow immoral orders.

Karl Tho's avatar

They can only disobey "unlawful orders " the Republicans in congress will make anything "lawful " that brump wants. SMH the house is on fire and Americans are worried about if it's was legal to light the candle

Great point. Thx, Kari.

Them MUST not forget their OATH!

Defend against foreign And Domestic!

DEFEND THE PEOPLE

Sharon's avatar

That does not mean they can do a coup. We must get him out. Not them. If he won’t leave then they can remove him. It is a slippery slope at best. Do not expect the military to take him out for us.

NytSong's avatar

However, as we learned previously, "just following orders" is not a good enough defense. The only problem is the ICC what have to be involved.

Sharon's avatar

ICC would be wonderful. There are some things they could be interested in with El Salvador. Also if him and Elon rigged the election that would be another way. It is all so frustrating. Of course if our food becomes in short supply he will possibly have his congress turn on him. There is also the whistleblower thing going on as well. What the heck is going on there?

Robbin Schill's avatar

In this particular scenario, it's doubtful that the ICC would have any kind of jurisdiction unless there are specific acts of war that are performed by the US. Here's what the conditions for ICC involvement look like:

1. ICC's Jurisdiction:

The ICC primarily deals with the most serious crimes under international law, and its mandate is not to address acts of aggression between states.

NATO Article 5:

If the US were to attack Denmark or Greenland, a member of NATO, this would trigger Article 5, which outlines the principle of collective defense. This means other NATO members would be obligated to assist the attacked member.

2. No War Crimes:

An act of aggression, even if it involves military force, would not automatically be classified as a "war crime" as defined by the ICC. War crimes involve specific violations of the laws of war during armed conflict, not simply an act of aggression.

3. State Sovereignty:

International law generally respects the sovereignty of states, meaning that international bodies, like the ICC, have limited power to interfere in the actions of one state against another.

4. Other avenues for redress:

If the US were to commit a crime under international law during such an attack, there are other mechanisms, such as national courts or the UN Security Council, that might be used to hold them accountable.

In conclusion, while an attack on Denmark or Greenland would have serious political and military consequences, it would not automatically trigger the ICC's jurisdiction.

NytSong's avatar

This is why I said the only problem is that ICC would have to get involved. The problem being that they wouldn't get involved. I wasn't saying they were going to get involved just that the problem is that they would have to in order for there to be consequences.

Yes and wholly agreed with you. I had thought the reply would’ve gone to Sharon (the post just ahead of yours) instead of you. Sorry for the formatting.

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

Not just them but the non- commissioned military need to refuse, too.

Barbara's avatar

I pray for our military to do the right thing Greenland is or was a friend . Remember the oath since trump don’t know it hell he ran from a war .

Leighla's avatar

The guy has lost his damnnn mind!!

Janelle's avatar

Assuming he actually had one at some point.

Veronica Alleyne's avatar

hey, you can't miss what you never had

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

He just wants their minerals. Icebergs are melting and the minerals will become more accessible. Same as in 2017, when it comes to Trump follow the money. Musk wants power, Trump the money.

Ryan's avatar

The military can constitutionally refuse illegal orders. Hopefully we enough good ones left to do so if it comes to this.

Blue's avatar

I swear way more than I used to.

Shelia Long's avatar

Oh my, me too!’ I regularly day words I never allowed myself to even “ think” in the past. I o low my life has been shortened !

Veronica Alleyne's avatar

really, to me the most appalling thing about the guy is how little he actually had to do to drag us all down into the gutter with him, think about it all the conning, lying & fleecing & still they were champing at the bit for him to give them some more & then , there was that Jan. 6 stunt which by my estimation ought to have made him ineligible to run as a candidate for any public office ever again but, only in America can an outright traitor still be considered as appropriate for our nation's highest office & then, go on to win that seat I mean, the thing smacks of the utmost delusion & blithe celebration of a culture of casual cruelty as the philosophy we choose to conduct ourselves by, there isn't a thing to be proud of here

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

I know, this all really f’s with your mind. I am irritated that MAGAs go about business as usual like all is okay when I am consistently angry and agitated.

Veronica Alleyne's avatar

angry & agitated plays right into their hands because they as well as he are fully committed to chaos so, if you can get yourself there, focused, resolute & determined is the more productive tact to produce the results we want like our rule of law being applied equally to all instead of this some being more equal than others as has been traditional over our history & of course it's going to take a tremendous consciousness of will to break the spell & seriously attempt true fairness because it's like when you allow a little rot to remain soon the whole magilla will have to be trashed after a time & what is necessary even though many won't want to concede is the current privilege must needs be risked for the pursuit of greater gain, saving & shoring up our democracy if we're at all serious about retaining it

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

I understand what you are saying and what is and will be necessary to get to where we want to be with equality for all. But we could get there with less destruction, pain, and cruelty. Feeling helpless is not a place I care to be.

Blue's avatar

This nightmare we are living in makes his first term feel like an uncomfortable dream. Little did we know how bad things could get. And he is selling hats for 2028. Threatening Canada and Greenland and planning his Kim Jong Un military parade for his birthday.

We are our own worst enemy..I completely agree with that statement.

I have said since 2016 that we apparently were not aware of the underbelly of hate in this country. trump gave them permission to crawl out from under their rocks. It is so cultish they believe every word he speaks. I have trumpets in my family and not one of them NOT ONE is complaining about what is happening. It’s as though it’s a big celebration of gotcha and revenge.

I hope we survive this.

Sharon's avatar

Veronica I agree. This has been really a nightmare. We will learn from this if the United States survives.

Veronica Alleyne's avatar

well, since he is in there yet a second time even after all he's done openly in the past & present I wouldn't hold my breath on that, it's most unfortunate but, our electorate doesn't seem capable of learning from past or present mistakes so swaddled in hubris are they, it was obvious to me during Obama's administration what the compulsory ideals were that folks chose to hold onto over & above everything & anything else & even more cherished than any rights or liberties we collectively possessed & those two things though no one cares to admit the truth are racism & misogyny because just how else does one come to the conclusion that a criminal traitor, rapist & conman who is no longer allowed to operate a charity in his home state is an appropriate individual to consider as apt for the nation's highest office? again, I say we are our own worst enemy for allowing that addiction to hatred by this country's ruling class to guide every move & consideration finally to our detriment

Sal Teodoro's avatar

Fuck Trump. Good luck with that. The military is not going to go against the constitution. That’s just blatantly invading a sovereign nation.

Russell Bloom's avatar

I wonder if the people, the states or someone can start suing the agents that are

illegally disappearing people.

Sal Teodoro's avatar

Well, I don’t see why not. But then again, Kilmer Abrego Garcia is still in El Salvador and many others. The house Repubes are useless but the some in the Senate will start to get tired of Trumps bulls**t.

Ronnie Davis's avatar

The military better be prepared to turn on him and his administration. They are ruled by the constitution!

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

Oh yeah,Oklahoma is like my area. Today, I had a bizarre experience. My sister and I were at Lowes checking out. I was putting my bank card away as they were scanning her items and an infrared light appeared in the middle of my chest. I instantly perked up. My initial immediate thought was a gun pointed at me, lol. It was the register hand held scanner but it surprised me that I had that thought and reaction. It’s an area of multiple small towns and small minds but I am not expecting anyone to take me out, at least not yet. 😀

Sharon's avatar

We have to take him out. The military cannot do a coup. That is our job.

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

If I had the skill to do so I would sacrifice my life to try. His first time I always hoped that fbi, cia, black ops, or even interstellar being, would take him out. Yes, that is dark and not right, but…

Sharon's avatar

Yes that is dark. Most of us have probably felt that way at time. The only thing we can do is fight it the best we can within the constraints of our law. Impeachment will be what we have to work towards. We need the election to turn the tide for is. But we can always dream😉

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

Impeachment to remove him will take us winning both the House and Senate in the upcoming mid-terms and I don’t think that is mathematically possible. I see our only hope at this point is the courts holding. Basically, we are screwed. Buckle up and be ready for some tough times.

Sharon's avatar

Tough times may do more for us. We will see how bad it gets. When people have nothing they can get pretty upset. My kids can’t eat and we are gonna have a talk.

KnightowlA/K/A Jackie Gush's avatar

Yes, no doubt about that. I just think about who has all the guns, militia, bunkers, etc. I have experienced that from living in a MAGA dominated area for a few years, a town I was raised in, that they only care about themselves and theirs. I fear they will turn on liberals before Trump.

Lori's avatar

As an American I do not support this at all. We do not have the right. He is starting a needless war. He his so far gone. Wake up congress and do your job we need him out of office before we can not fix this

carpenter22's avatar

The statement is so inflammatory that I can only believe it's a distraction. He has other things on his mind and he's trying to use this as a cover.

Diana R's avatar

I may agree a bit with this, however, I pray that we do too. I can hear it, but it still too quiet!

True Californian's avatar

God, when will this torture be over.

Bjorkianrice's avatar

He needs to come get his boy. 🤬

Julie Clemente's avatar

We have survived all this time without Greenland, however if he does this I honestly think it will start a war with the US being the enemy! He needs to go!

Brandon Sipe's avatar

Take care of them like he “takes care” of his own people? 🙄

Lois Lyon's avatar

That was my first thought! And the people of Greenland can see how he's treating everyone in the US. They will know better.

Victoria Scroggins's avatar

I came to say doesn't he know they see how much he cherishes all of the American people. Hell no they are not going to want any of that nonsense. This would be like declaring war on all of our other NATO Ally's. We would be the aggressor and in the wrong.

IDPROBABLYBEJANINE's avatar

The military should fulfill their oaths and not follow the felons bidding!! This is against our every fiber and moral code!! I'm so sick of this shit everyday!! We don't need him in charge of anything. He's gonna start sending us to concentration camps and killing USA

Teresa's avatar

I pray our military leaders will stop this cold!

Sharon's avatar

They will not do a coup

Jen's avatar

Literally thought this was one of your old videos and then I saw it today and cried

Taya's avatar

Fuck no!!!! Greenland is part of denmark which is part of nato!!! GET THE WHITE CHRISTIAN NATIONALISTS out of the govt..

Publicity Princess's avatar

Why does he need Greenland?!?!? They’re our friends!!! 😭

t freitag's avatar

He wants to rape the island of its natural resources and keep all the money they bring in for his own greedy self.

Why else?

Sharon's avatar

Reminds me of putin. He want to do the same to Ukraine.

carpenter22's avatar

He wants their minerals and the access through the Arctic, which is prime and will be open for shipping.

IDPROBABLYBEJANINE's avatar

He's gonna destroy the US so the Rich dickless billionaires can live in Greenland.
