A nationwide consumer blackout has begun today with hundreds of thousands of Americans participating in a boycott of major, big box retailers who have rolled back their internal DEI policies as a result of Donald Trump’s recent executive orders. According to the organizers of today’s boycott, there will be additional boycotts over the next two months with the following schedule:
March 7 - March 14: Amazon boycott
March 21 - March 28: Nestle boycott
April 7 - April 14: Walmart boycott
April 18: Economic blackout #2
April 21 - April 28: General Mills boycott
It remains to be seen whether boycotts like this one works, and as I get information, I will let you know.
Overnight, the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration conducted mass firings targeting over 800 employees who were on “probation.” One note: just because an employee is on “probation” does not mean that employee did something wrong. It just means that the employee was recently hired or promoted, and as a result, many senior meteorologists who help predict the weather have been terminated following recent promotions.
Donald Trump will sign an executive order that will make English the official language of the United States.
MAGA infighting is increasing as Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel notifying him that the FBI is hiding documents related to Jeffrey Epstein from the Department of Justice. Yesterday, MAGA influencers were invited to the White House expecting to receive new Epstein-related information. They were instead handed a binder with already publicly available evidence and files.
The Social Security Administration will soon face mass firings as well as an internal memo has instructed employees to consider early retirement programs amid a “mass reorganization” of the agency.
A federal court in California ruled that the Office of Personnel Management could not instruct agencies to conduct mass terminations. While agencies could conduct firings on their own, OPM is now forced to rescind instructions to conduct the mass firings. This will delay layoff efforts.
Donald Trump has announced that he will be imposing 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico starting on March 4th. He will also be imposing an additional 10% tariff on all Chinese goods on that same day.
President Zelensky is visiting Washington, D.C. today with the expectation that he will be meeting with Donald Trump in the White House and signing some sort of minerals deal with the United States. The details remain unknown.
Consumer confidence is at a three year low in America, jobless claims rise unexpectedly, and American spending is now at its lowest in three years.
See you this evening.
