Mark Zuckerberg Is Making Meta A Carbon Copy Of Twitter
Big tech is actively failing the American public. As an independent journalist, I will not stop fighting for everyone to get the unvarnished truth.
Mark Zuckerberg made a major announcement this morning: he is making Meta a carbon copy of Twitter. I wish I was kidding. This morning, Zuckerberg chose to announce sweeping changes to Facebook and Instagram, stating that the company will now formally end third-party fact checking of posts and instead replace fact checkers with community notes. If that sounds familiar to you, it’s because that change is exactly what Elon Musk did to Twitter. And now you have random Americans calling themselves journalists and spreading misinformation online.
But, that’s not all. Zuckerberg also announced that he will be lifting topic restrictions and will work with incoming President Donald Trump to end censorship around the world. The reason for these changes? According to Zuckerberg, the changes reflect the will of the voters during the 2024 election. Whether or not the voters voted for Donald Trump, they are going to be force fed the impacts. Zuckerberg’s announcement is exactly why we need to regulate big tech companies, whether Meta, Twitter, TikTok, or elsewhere. But, that’s a topic for another day.
Instead, I wanted to share with you that I am going to be heavily investing in building out this SubStack platform into a newsletter where you can come to for all the news updates you may have missed during the day. I will also be sharing my opinions on current events from the perspective of a Gen Z American.
For example, just today, you may have missed several stories including how Donald Trump filed an appeal with the New York appellate courts to delay his upcoming January 10th sentencing date. In addition, President Biden made a major environmental announcement that will prevent offshore drilling in key coastal areas across the United States. And finally, McDonalds is now rolling back its DEI policies after facing conservative backlash and is blaming it on the recent affirmative action Supreme Court decision.
As someone who believes in a genuine free press, I feel as though big tech companies and legacy media channels have failed us. It’s why I will continue to update you on here, and on my other social media platforms (yes even on Meta), because I believe that everyone deserves the unvarnished truth and that we have to play on every platform online, even on ones that aren’t friendly.
So, with that, I hope you will join me in this work and support the work that I will be doing over the next several years by becoming a paid subscriber here. Let’s support independent media in a time where we have everything against us.
See you soon,
Aaron
I have already cut back on my Facebook page. People and action. Don't mind cutting it back even more! All last year, very toxic, and emboldened the MAGA faithful.
It already is a carbon copy of Twitter. You can't believe anything you see on facebook
