1) The Economy Is Booming After Another Strong Jobs Report
Happy Jobs day! This morning's economic report showed, yet again, a robust American economy led by the Biden Administration. The economy added another new 275,000 jobs in the month of February as the hiring boom continues in America. This number is up from the 229,000 jobs added by the economy in February and rivals the 290,000 jobs added in February.
In addition, the unemployment rate came in at 3.9% which marks two years of the unemployment rate being below 4%. This is in stark contrast to the country President Biden inherited where unemployment ran rampant during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, wages continued to rise relative to inflation at 4.3% with inflation being at just 3.1%, much lower than the inflation rate Biden inherited from his predecessor. All in all, the Biden Administration's policies continue to work to lower costs for American families and to create more jobs.
2) Biden Announces Emergency Mission To Surge Aid Into Gaza
President Biden has announced an emergency mission by the United States military to build a temporary seaport in Gaza to allow for the surge of humanitarian aid into the enclave. The first shipments of aid would enter via Cyprus and flow directly to Palestinian civilians living in the Gaza Strip.
This is a significant move, one that would benefit Palestinian civilians currently facing a possible humanitarian crisis due to Hamas' terrorist actions on October 7th. While Israel and Hamas continue to negotiate over a possible temporary ceasefire that would allow aid to enter the enclave via the Rafah border crossing, the United States will not wait to provide aid to civilians and will build the port immediately.
The US has recently initiated air-drops of food and supplies to people in Gaza, but the temporary port would all aid to be transferred much more efficiently.
3) Sweden Officially Joins NATO
Sweden has officially become the 32nd country to join NATO, following Finland's accession last year. Sweden received the green light to join the alliance after months of negotiation with countries like Turkey and Hungary which had previously been opposed to Sweden's accession. A ceremony will be held at NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday where Sweden's flag will be risen alongside other NATO allies. The official depository notification making Sweden's accession official can be found below:
Following the news, Sweden's Prime Minister issued the following statement:
Sweden is now a NATO member. Thank you all Allies for welcoming us as the 32nd member. We will strive for unity, solidarity and burden-sharing, and will fully adhere to the Washington Treaty values: freedom, democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law. Stronger together.
4) Mike Johnson Questions The Legality Of IVF Treatments
Speaker Mike Johnson was recently asked about his thoughts on IVF treatments, specifically whether Johnson, who believes life begins at conception, considers embryos destroyed during the IVF process to be murder. His answer was stunning. Johnson stated that IVF is "something that we've got to grapple with. It’s a brave new world. IVF’s only been invented in the early 1970s." Watch the answer for yourself:
5) Biden Campaign Has Best Online Fundraising Hours Following State Of The Union
The Biden campaign announced that it had its best night of online fundraising since launching the President's reelection campaign. During the 9 PM, 10 PM, and 11 PM hours, the campaign said that it had received more donations that in any prior hour during the reelection campaign. This news comes after the President's campaign raised over $1.5 million in the 24 hours following Super Tuesday, which was its highest single day haul in the reelection cycle thus far.
This is no surprise. The President's State of the Union speech showed donors from across America that he was ready to fight for them. The speech was one of the most important one of the Biden Presidency thus far, and it is clear that he delivered. Suffice to say, the campaign's momentum is stronger than ever.
