I'll be Covering the Nation’s Largest Anti-Trump Protest this Weekend—Through the Eyes of Independent Media
The White House has cancelled events in anticipation of the protest.
A sweeping wave of resistance is set to flood streets across the United States this Saturday, as the “Hands Off!” movement mobilizes what could be the biggest single-day protest since Donald Trump returned to the presidency. With over 1,100 planned rallies, marches, and community events confirmed in all 50 states, organizers are preparing for a show of force aimed squarely at what they call an aggressive consolidation of power by the Trump administration.
I’ll be covering the protest live from Washington, D.C. as a credentialed journalist. From the crowd energy to speeches, spontaneous moments, and law enforcement presence, I’ll bring you an on-the-ground view of what unfolds.
My ability to do so is thanks to your support. My news will always be free, but with your support, I can do this full-time and work to build a larger apparatus. Consider subscribing today:
Billed not just as a response to political grievances but as a stand against what protestors are calling a “hostile takeover,” the movement has tapped into deep and diverse currents of frustration. The administration’s recent legal, economic, and social policies have drawn fire from a wide spectrum of Americans—activists, professionals, immigrants, labor organizers, and everyday citizens—many of whom say they feel directly threatened or disenfranchised.
“This is not just corruption. This is not just mismanagement,” reads a statement on the Hands Off! website. “This is a hostile takeover.”
As of midweek, nearly 250,000 people had RSVP’d to attend events nationwide, and the number continues to climb. The White House, anticipating mass mobilization in D.C., has already rescheduled public events—first lady Melania Trump announced that the Saturday garden tours have been pushed to Sunday.
