Right now, more people are losing on all sides. And trauma can last a lifetime. Part of our problem as a country - is we never healed the trauma of slavery and the Civil War. We never healed the genocide of the Native Americans. We refuse to even as a Nation acknowledge the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. In all of these cases great harm was done and millions were traumatized - their sacrifices should not be paved over with a "happily ever after" good guys win - this just leads to the unacknowledged harm/trauma metastasizing into people feeling unheard, invisible and enraged.

Having lived in areas with a lot of Mexicans, growing up with them, my father employing them in his place of business. Being a daughter of an immigrant from the Philippines, I have seen how hardworking immigrants are and the fact that they are undocumented doesn't mean anything to me. They are all good people, who want nothing but to provide for their families and to make sure that their children grow up understanding the opportunities that they have. Every citizen, wrongly arrested or detained, should be filing a civil rights lawsuit. It might be useful to ask ACLU if a class action would be an appropriate way forward. This is racial profiling, plain and simple. These people want to expel anyone of color and anyone not Christian from this country. There really is no other way to read this.

That's probably true of some of them. I wouldn't say unequivocally that every ICE agent is a Gestapo type but ,rather, family guys trying to make a living and provide for their families , but, I may wrong in that assessment . I hope that there are some good people in ICE and see the error in some of the current policies and will work from inside to correct it.

America has always been great, but, this administration is an aberration of an America that they see as predominately white powered and thus more like the founding fathers who were all white and believed that the inalienable rights of all men ( who were not black or red or those of whom were women ) belonged to them only. The legacy of the last 75 years hasn't been perfect but it was always active in trying to insure equal rights for everyone and a more perfect union for our country as well as a better world for everyone within the global endeavor that has helped so many others outside of our own country.
