Donald Trump threatened NBC. I won't back down if he comes after me. I'm not afraid.

As an independent journalist, I'm not afraid.

Donald Trump used Truth Social to attack comedian Seth Meyers, NBC, and Comcast. Trump accused the network of spreading political propaganda, called Meyers “Marble Mouth Meyers” and railed against NBC as a “truly bad group of people.” Trump further attacked Comcast, the parent company of NBC and MSNBC, accusing it of pushing "in-kind contributions" to the Democratic Party and said it should “pay a big price.”

Attacks against media companies are increasing as January 20th approaches. Trump’s new FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr, has sent a letter threatening ABC News and other outlets with enforcement actions. ABC News has already paid a $15 million settlement. It was shameful. Unlike ABC News, I wouldn’t have paid that settlement, and I won’t capitulate to Trump’s attacks on the free press. In 2022, I opened a TikTok account to provide accurate, timely news updates about my family in Ukraine, feeling legacy media was not doing enough. Since then, I have continued providing timely, accurate coverage of current events, domestic and international, on all of my social media platforms. As a result, my TikTok has now gained more than 1.6 million followers, and I have more than 2 million followers across all my platforms.

Many folks ask me why I do this work, and the answer is simple: there aren’t enough young people in media. Legacy media has failed young Americans, and Americans generally, by not elevating young voices, while simultaneously elevating opinionated and biased talking heads to deliver the “news.” It’s not right, and I am working to try to change that.
