U know…. I just can’t any more. I’m gonna have to try to take at least a day off media. My stomach is always a mess nowadays and I’m very worried. Idk from month to month whether or not my SSI will come in. So far, I’ve been fortunate but there’s no telling when it will cease.

I feel you. Also on disability Ss and worried. I have to back off for a few hours everyday. It's overwhelming.

I actually backed off the first time in November from election night until mid January! I watched no big news channels deleted Twitter went off TikTok then when TikTok was in the ban my TikTok disappeared off my phone for weeks! I basically go off everything for a day or two weekly! It is heartbreaking to see people I have known for years get so wrapped up in Trumps lies and hatred!

I am with all commenters who have had enough of MSM sane-washing the rapey traitor felon. Since the election I tune in to watch the weather/traffic and whatever local news for the day and maybe Dodgers/Lakers updates. But then the “news“ comes on with the station bobble head announcing breathlessly the latest maladministration travesty and I flip the channel immediately. Just can’t watch or listen to the fact free BS, let alone waiting for factual reporting or explanation of the consequences of these regressive and punitive policies. So all these bobble heads and their corporate masters have failed the American people spectacularly.

Yes but there are many to blame rich old disgusting white money hungry scumbags who hate the poor disabled veterans women! I blame them and white males who have done nothing with their lives and blame others and take no accountability! People who have a deep seeded hatred for people who are not white straight males! I also have a deep hatred for men like Trump who make fun of the disabled and actually want them unalived because they contribute nothing to society, I have a disabled sister!

I still watch Jen Psaki and Rachel but not the evening news, total drama or bs.

Hootie63's avatar

It is actually good to take time away from all this chaos! I have and it does help sometimes it is a bit overwhelming when you come back but being away gives a different perspective! I know exactly how you feel!! But do take the time away!!

Certainly take care of you first!! Take the mental break.

Consider checking in with your mental health team.

I’ve been doing the same and my PTSD meds were just increased a bit. 😞

Donald’s brain is deteriorating before our eyes and no one in succession is any better!

As his mental state is quickly declining he’s trying to drive us all into depression & insanity so we can be like him. Some weird version of Stockholm syndrome lol. Find a reason to smile and keep hunting the good stuff! 💙

Definitely! I just looked it up, and it says that the president, vice president, and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office upon impeachment and conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. The Constitution grants Congress the authority to impeach and remove them. We just have to make enough ruckus to wake up the members of Congress.

Do you have a picture of the tattoo? I will go get it just in spite of this dumb sh*t going on.

Nice. Bullies run when people stop being afraid.

But if you’ve never had to deal with authority figures practicing abuses of that power on you, please make sure you’re ready for that fallout first. It could get very intense.

Alex A's avatar

I definitely understand that it could get very bad very quickly. Sometimes regardless of the pain endured it’s worth standing up.

River's avatar

Yeah ^_^ I think we’re somewhat alike. Better to suffer a little for the sake of good than to live in peace enabling evil.

Warrior4Justice's avatar

I totally feel you Alex! I have a wildly radical part of me...but please know that you are needed, we need you in this fight. I ask myslef if the radical move I want to take will actually serve the purpose, will still be a strong statement while most of all, keep me in the fight so my comrades can continue to depend on me. We need every one of us!

The deportation of people based on tattoos is something that sounds like it should be in one of those magazines at the grocery stores. How has he not been impeached yet!?

I swear every time I see something new with this regime my first thought is we’re all going to die. This is madness.

I found out the other day that Trump is telling his people that immigrants are being released from mental health facilities and coming into our country, but in reality he doesn’t understand the term seeking asylum. He is not very bright. I almost fell on the floor laughing. However, at the same time- he is putting further strain on the stigma of mental health epidemic we have in the US.

Shannon Bennett's avatar

I heard the same thing. He is just so ignorant.

Help! I'm Alive:'s avatar

Just like the trans mice- I truly believe he didn’t read transgenic right off the teleprompter and the administration tried to pull studies relating it to trans mice but they still didn’t relate 🤣 it’s funny how much MAGA defends him. I wonder if there are any MAGA medical creators out there debunking that one to them because they sure as shit aren’t watching scientific videos.

Hootie63's avatar

It is amazing how people could actually deep down believe such stupidity! Or do they just hate our country and Democrats so much that they go along with all his lies so he starts a war or detaining Americans who are not maggots and or republicans? I am sure there are some so uneducated and stupid that they believe that shit!

Warrior4Justice's avatar

They get very different info than we do Kelly. I have a sister in law, and when we compare where and what kinds of info we have received, its worlds apart!

Two very large, very different echo chambers. A lot of the high viewed platforms are right winged.

Maybe he understands, yet relies on the stupid people who won’t.

When do you think the Trump‘s administration is gonna come after reporters like you to silence you?

ladtodt's avatar

I've been worried about that too.

Lauren K's avatar

Every past President and Vice President including Bush, Cheney and Pence need to take a united front and speak out! This would be the most powerfully thing for both sides. They are all acting like cowards.

Leslye's avatar

Aaron how do you do this every day without getting sick. I appreciate your hard work and dedication. This is just getting worse and worse every day. This guy is on a revenge tour for the next four years. It’s disgusting

Schere's avatar

Once again I'm left speechless just when I think things can't get any worse...

Alex's avatar

Aaron, thank you so much for your hard work.

The insanity continues. What is the thought behind gutting social security?? Without it people will not be able to pay their bills then what?? Are they going to imprison all the elderly??

Abbie's avatar

It's the same thought process they had with covid. The elderly are no longer contributing to the workforce and are therefore a "burden on society" (I'm sick just typing that). They don't plan to imprison them. The intent is to tell the elderly "let them eat cake".

Murray Smart's avatar

First they came for.......... Every day Trump and his administration grow more and more out of control and totally against all they America stands for. They are doing whatever the hell THEY want to do and to hell with the U.S. and it's Constitution.

I love you Aaron, but can you please not limit your focus of the Social Security cuts to Seniors? It’s not. I am a person who received SSDI and has since 2013. This affects retirees and SSDI recipients. As someone who is very competent in the system and has had to deal with my benefits being shut off by accident by a clerical error, I can GUARANTEE you, that the only way to deal with things is by phone. I was living abroad at the time, and the Embassy made me call the American 1-800 line to get help. You couldn’t go to the Embassy because no one there knew what they were doing because they technically were not SSA employees. Obviously, I was unable to go to the SSA office where the clerical error took place because it was in Seattle and I was in Spain. SS recipients abroad won’t be able to do this, if a mistake like mine happens, especially in more remote countries. Also, the phone is integral for disabled people to report income changes if they are working. We cannot do that online. They make us call. AFTER we call and tell them the changes, they will send us a questionnaire. We also have to call to change our direct deposit. This also cannot be done online. The website is effectively useless, unless you want to just print off your award letter, order a new Medicare card, or SS card. It’s more to print off your info. The worst is that you cannot just GO to a an SSA office if you live in a large city. Most will require that you make an appointment. To do this you need to…you guessed it, call and make one. Again, this cannot be done online. This is not to say that you can’t do it at all places, but most places you have to be there hours before it opens or they will turn you away because there are simply too many people. The lines go around the block. Waiting in line 6 hours for a simple question when you can barely stand is cruel and unnecessary. It’s cruel enough to make us wait on hold on the phone for 3 hours. Yes, that is the normal wait time.

Sending letters is an option, but it is archaic, inefficient, and when the SSA wants their money back, they will just take it. For people like me who rely on this monthly payment, if the SSA accidentally takes the money back before I have a chance to report something, they will auto-deduct if from my bank account and THEN give it back in a future payment if there was a mistake. It isn’t just the next month either. Sending a letter takes a long time and if the entire population, including Seniors is doing that, many will not have any money for months at a time. This is clearly eugenics and I will not say otherwise.

But please, do not forget about the disabled who require Social Security. Many of them rely on the phone. Many cannot drive and get to centers. Many cannot begin the navigate the idea of writing a letter. They will lose their benefits.

Stand 4 Democracy's avatar

Yes, I have also experienced at least 3hr hold and was still unable to reach anyone by phone. Had to call back several times and be on hold for hours - just like for SNAP or Medicaid - just to set an appointment, just so I could talk to someone about getting a replacement ss card (I lost mine after having my original card for 53yrs and the system won't allow me to do it online). I can't imagine the hell it's going to be for disability.

They've also cut ss staff in half which means the remaining employees will have their case loads double or triple, so getting a response could take months for a letter. And you know Trump/Musk aren't gutting ss staff with any reason or discernment, they're just going in with a chainsaw like they have with every other dept., likely cutting essential workers in the process (hello bird flu, hello nuclear monitoring). So it will be even harder to get anything processed. And probably impossible to reach anyone by phone to schedule an appt.

I also believe this is eugenics. First, they're trying to haze vulnerable populations that simply don't have the stamina to jump through even more hoops than usual, hoping they just give up. So they go without critical resources, bc those people can't "contribute" to society (ie - be a worker cog in billionaires' companies). Second, Musk and his family are White Supremacists, he was raised believing in this, so this is undoubtedly about culling the elderly, weak, ill, poor, etc. Again, anyone who can't work to line billionaires' pockets is expendable.

Point of interest, when the Nazis began culling people they began with the disabled.

Yinzer In Spain's avatar

Maybe they can’t throw us in cattle cars, but they can gut our only way of surviving capitalism right now- with SS, Medicaid, and SNAP. I am on all three. I tried working and technically I can, but I can’t do anything else. I can’t take care of my home. I can barely take a shower. I collapse when I get home and my weekends are just me sleeping. I have no energy and my illness flares up so badly I cry. I have no energy to enjoy life or even see people. It’s a miserable existence and the private health insurance you get sucks up so much money that in the end, I usually make less than what I make on SS, after I pay for all of my treatments. SSDI lets me live with some dignity, albeit in poverty. That’s the thing, though, they don’t want people living in dignity in poverty. They want us to suffer. They don’t want us to be able to enjoy life while being disabled or elderly. How dare we have time to enjoy life or not suffer completely? How dare I not completely destroy myself working? How dare I allow myself to choose if and when I work so that I don’t literally kill myself? Nah. That’s not how it works. Poor people must work no matter what and if they don’t, then they aren’t useful. And if we lose are homes, it’s illegal and we can just go for private prisons where we will at least make them money somehow…and I’m sure we won’t get any medical care there.
