Donald Trump has Launched a War on the Free Press
Here's how you can fight back alongside me.
Imagine a world where:
Journalists are prosecuted for reporting on his corruption.
Independent media platforms are shut down or censored through intimidation and legal warfare.
Trump uses the federal government to suppress dissenting voices, just as he has promised.
This is not speculation. It is a reality Donald Trump is now promising. And if we do not act, he will deliver. As an independent journalist, I am fighting back. But, I cannot do it alone. My work is funded by you. My news will always be free, and your subscriptions will help ensure that remains:
Donald Trump has waged an all-out war against the media since January 20th. His attacks on journalists have gone beyond mere insults—they are a calculated effort to dismantle the press, silence dissent, and erode the very foundation of democracy.
This is not hyperbole. This is a reality that independent journalists like myself, along with mainstream media outlets, have been forced to confront firsthand. And with Trump now two months into his second term, his war on the press is intensifying.
The time to hold him accountable is now. If we don’t, the next chapter of his authoritarian playbook will be written in the blood of a free press.
Trump’s disdain for the media is not about “fake news” or so-called bias—it’s about control. He understands that a free and independent press is one of the last barriers standing between him and unchecked power. That’s why he has spent years branding journalists as the “enemy of the people,” rallying his supporters to despise the press, and laying the groundwork for a broader crackdown.
While Trump’s feud with corporate media giants like CNN and MSNBC grabs headlines, his assault on independent journalism is even more insidious. Independent journalists—those who lack the corporate legal teams and deep pockets of major outlets—are often the first to be silenced, harassed, or targeted.
We are the ones exposing his corruption, his business dealings, and the network of extremists propping up his political ambitions. And for that, we are met with relentless attacks from his supporters, online mobs, and right-wing operatives who want nothing more than to see independent voices crushed.
Trump doesn’t just want to discredit journalists—he wants to destroy us.
The pattern is clear: authoritarian leaders do not tolerate a free press. They attack it, discredit it, and ultimately dismantle it.
Trump’s war on the press is not just about journalists. It is about you. It is about whether truth still matters, whether facts still have value, and whether democracy can survive in the face of relentless authoritarian attacks.
We do not have the luxury of waiting. We do not have the privilege of complacency.
We must fight back. We must hold him accountable. Because if we don’t, there may come a time when the truth is no longer allowed to be told at all.
And that is a future we cannot afford.
If you believe in the power of journalism—if you believe in truth, accountability, and the role of a free press in democracy—then the time to act is now. Here’s what we must do:
Expose His Lies Relentlessly – Trump’s strategy thrives on disinformation. We must fight back with facts and expose every attempt he makes to distort reality.
Support Independent Journalism Like Your Democracy Depends on It—Because It Does – Corporate media will survive no matter what. Independent journalists will not unless people actively support their work through funding, sharing, and engagement.
Pressure Leaders to Defend Press Freedom – Every elected official, regardless of party, must be forced to take a stand. Silence in the face of fascism is complicity.
Refuse to Normalize His Attacks – The media must stop treating Trump’s authoritarian ambitions as “political strategy” and start calling them what they are: a direct threat to democracy.
Are you with me?
Please hear me out: remember how, back in the Occupy Wall Street movement, they made a makeshift “microphone” out of the people there? It occurs to me that everyone in this country is only a few acquaintances removed from each other. Desperate times call for desperate measures: if all else fails, how will news travel? The way it used to: by word of mouth.
We all have to start talking to people offline a lot more.
Absolutely Aaron! He’s a demented old man whom I think didn’t win the 2024 election that was rigged by a South African immigrant but I’m not one to spread conspiracy theories without facts. Project 2025 was written over the past couple of years and a blueprint for his return to power. We are with you 150%. I’m not living under no authoritarian regime and I’m sure no one here wants to either. 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸✊🏽✊🏽
