Today is March 13th and here is your evening news rundown. We are going to do a paid subscriber Q&A on Saturday around 7:30 PM EST, so stay tuned for that! If you want to support my work, click the button below and become a paid subscriber today:

With that, here is your rundown:

  • The Trump Administration deported a 10 year old girl recovering from brain cancer along with five of her siblings and her parents. The girl and four of her siblings are United States citizens while the parents are undocumented. Immigration authorities removed the young girl and her four American siblings from Texas, when their undocumented parents were deported to Mexico. Now, the family fears that the disruption in her medical care could have life-threatening consequences.

  • Today, S&P 500’s entered correction territory. This slide into correction territory happened at one of the fastest rates in history—marking the seventh-fastest drop since 1929, the year of the Great Depression crash, according to Bloomberg.

  • The Trump Administration suffered a major loss in court as a federal judge has ordered the immediate reinstatement of thousands of probationary employees previously fired by the administration. The ruling requires key federal agencies—including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Defense (DOD), the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of the Interior (DOI), and the Department of the Treasury—to reinstate all probationary employees who were terminated under the contested policy, effective immediately.

  • Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) has passed away, according to a statement from his office. He had been suffering from cancer.

  • We are now 24 hours away from a federal government shutdown and there does not appear to be any solutions in sight. New polling shows that most Americans would blame Donald Trump and the GOP for a shutdown.

  • Nearly two dozen Democratic attorneys general have filed a lawsuit today against the Trump administration, seeking to stop its efforts to drastically downsize the Department of Education.

  • Donald Trump is gearing up to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 in order to speed up the process of mass deportations. The law gives the president enhanced authority to remove undocumented immigrants. Trump is expected to announce the measure Friday. It has only been invoked three times in American history, most recently to detain Japanese immigrants during World War II.

  • The Trump administration is preparing to impose additional sanctions on Russia's oil, gas, and banking sectors to pressure Moscow into negotiating a peace agreement with Ukraine.

  • Tesla stock dropped 3% today in another loss for Elon Musk. Meanwhile, Tesla cautions that tariffs may drive up the cost of U.S. vehicle production, according to the Financial Times.

  • Donald Trump has expressed confidence that the United States will annex Greenland, stating, "I think that will happen," despite Denmark's firm stance that the territory is not for sale. In pursuit of this goal, Trump has not ruled out the use of military force.

  • Columbia University has expelled or suspended several students involved in last year's pro-Palestinian protests that led to the occupation of a campus building.

  • Elon Musk, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), made an unannounced visit to the National Security Agency (NSA) on Wednesday, meeting with NSA chief Gen. Timothy Haugh. This visit, Musk's first known engagement with an intelligence agency, focused on staff reductions and operational matters.

  • NBC News reports that the White House has instructed the military to develop plans for increasing troop presence in Panama to fulfill President Trump's objective of "reclaiming" the Panama Canal.

See you in the morning.
